About us
Who we are
Founded in 2009, Equality Trust’s vision is simple - for everyone to have a good life. Our mission is to challenge concentrations of income, wealth and power in order to achieve this. We gather evidence; build coalitions for change across people, organisations and communities; campaign, and support others to do so.
Our research continues to show that countries with high levels of income inequality do worse on a number of measures - including action on the climate crisis and support for the far right, alongside a wide range of social harms.
We learn from and amplify the lived and living experience of the people and communities affected by inequalities; seek out new and alternative models of power and equity which can help shift UK society to greater equality.
We share our evidence by providing accessible and relevant information; running events and delivering training. We lobby people who have the power to inform decision-making and act to reduce inequality.
We widen the net of who gets to reimagine and design our economic future; we co-lead the long running campaign on the socio-economic duty (SED) and we work across coalitions who share our aims - including on progressive taxation, pay gaps and anti austerity campaigns.
