Discipleship Ambassador (Voluntary part-time)
ETS is a small but growing UK based Christian charity, which is looking to expand its discipleship and evangelism training throughout the UK and the English-speaking nations.
We are looking for a person of faith who can identify with our aims; a mature Christian who is comfortable in networking with Church leaders. Although this is a voluntary position, we anticipate that this role may be salaried at some point in the future.
As an ETS Ambassador, you will be our first contact to many pastors and leaders in both the UK and to other English-speaking nations. Therefore, your main role is to open doors and to reflect our passion and ability to make disciples of all nations, through our unique one-day training and manuals. Once the door of opportunity has been opened, we can take over and explain in more detail.
As our ETS Ambassador, your role will involve reaching out to churches to promote our discipleship and evangelism training. This will be by targeted emails, letters, and phone calls, which will be backed up and supported by our Admin and Fundraising Officers.
ETS is based in Peterborough, and we expect any applicant to work from home/remote (hybrid) along with attending meetings over zoom. We will only interview applicants who are UK based. There may be occasional team meetings at Allia Business Centre, Peterborough, but traveling costs will be reimbursed, along with phone calls and other approved expenses.
Salary: This is a voluntary role and you are expected to pay your own taxes (if applicable)
Hours of work: This is a part-time role and we will negotiate the hours per month, but these can be carried out at different times during the week.
We would require a commitment of three months, with the possibility of extension.
Safeguarding: Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory DBS check.

Following the decisions of the 2023 Conference, the Methodist Church seeks to appoint additional members for its Nominations Committee.
The purpose, role and remit of the Nominations Committee are set out in the report on Oversight and Trusteeship to the 2023 Conference. The Committee exists to ensure that the nominations which are made to the Conference or the Methodist Council (from 2024, the Connexional Council) for appointment to the Connexional Council, the Missions Committee, the Ministries Committee, the Resourcing Committee and any other bodies the Conference or Council refers to it are brought as a result of processes which conform to the requirements for the body concerned and in accordance with the church’s principles for Justice, Dignity and Solidarity.
Members of the Committee are appointed annually by the Conference and would usually serve for a period of four years.
The Nomination Committee has four main responsibilities:
- To scrutinise and to sign off the (volunteer) role descriptors for a member of the Connexional Council or one of the committees in order that a seat could be advertised.
- To agree that the process of recruitment for a particular role has been followed correctly and in line with HR recruitment policies and the JDS strategy.
- To work with the chairs of the bodies concerned on a periodic review of those appointed to such bodies to ensure that the committees continue to function appropriately. The Nomination Committee will also advise the Connexional Council on matters concerned with training of those appointed to such bodies.
- To bring nominations with reasoned statements to the Conference or Connexional Council as required in each case.
Expectations
- Attendance at monthly meetings. The committee meets online and usually for no longer than an hour each month
- Willingness able to read and comment on draft paperwork for recruitment processes.
- Willingness to respond promptly to e-mail communications to sign off paperwork between meetings as necessary.
- Willingness to share particular expertise and experience in the fields of recruiting, discernment and EDI.
- Willingness to serve on interview panels or participate in other ways in a discernment process.
The Committee requires a range of experience and expertise, including the knowledge of HR, recruitment and discernment processes; experience of serving on connexional committees in the Methodist Church; understanding of protected characteristics and the diverse gifts that potential candidates for roles might offer.

Each centre has a local management committee. We meet a minimum 4 times a year. Our assets exceed £4 million & the Company made a surplus of £36,600 last year. The Trust's deficit was £20,000.
What are we looking for?
The Chair is a trustee of the Othona Community Trust and a Director of the Othona Community Company and both organisations enjoy working together as a team on behalf of the whole Community to operate the two centres. As chair you will be leading a board of Trustees (some of whom are Link Trustees for the centres).
Alongside your understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship, and commitment to voluntary public service you must be willing to uphold Othona’s inclusive Christian ethos; to think strategically and creatively; and lead the trustees forward, contributing your skills to our team.
If you have any of these experiences it would be great:
- Previous Trustee or board experience or similar e.g. school governor
- Strategic understanding of management in residential settings and/or the hospitality sector
- Ability to understand basic financial data and read spreadsheets.
- Experience of working within Charity Commission guidelines

In late 2023, the Cathedral adopted a new governance structure under the Cathedrals Measure 2021 and became a registered charity with the Charity Commission in March 2024.The new Chapter must consist of between nine and twelve members and is led by the Dean as Chair. You could be part of our exciting pilot project as a volunteer Parish Nurse offering life-transforming whole-person healthcare, working alongside Chaplains, Complex Needs and Housing Support Workers.
As a YMCA Parish Nurse you would:
- Help service users identify issues and self-manage their wellbeing so they flourish in body, mind and spirit. This might be 1:2:1 or in a group setting.
- Signpost, support, and provide information and reassurance enabling service users to access NHS and other professional or community support as well as internal support from YMCA colleagues and projects.
- Offer spiritual care from a Christian perspective, such as prayer or acts of worship
- Be instrumental in supporting the project develop in this pilot phase
Training for this role is provided by PNMUK as part of their on-going programme of support and personal development for Parish Nursing nationally. The next course is 15-17th November with follow-up online sessions.

Kinross-shire Youth Enterprise (KYTHE) is a non-profit organisation providing dynamic Christian youthwork a dedicated to empowering the young people in Kinross-shire to reach their full potential. KYTHE firmly believes in the strength of community partnerships, working together with local schools, churches, and government bodies to deliver life enhancing services to the youth of the area. Their comprehensive offerings include drop-in sessions, youth band activities, arts workshops, various holiday activities and outings, just to name a few.

The Role of Trustee:
As a Trustee, you will play a vital role in ensuring KYTHE achieve its core purpose of Transforming Young Lives across Kinross-shire and its surrounding areas. This involves ensuring that the organisation operates safely and effectively, adhering to legal requirements and charity law while maintaining a focus on the best interests of KYTHE and its beneficiaries – the young people. Trustees are responsible for approving operational strategies and policies, monitoring their implementation, and providing financial oversight by reviewing budgets and financial statements, and managing risks. You’ll offer both support and challenge to the Management Committee, stay informed about changes in KYTHE's operating environment, and actively contribute to governance reviews. Additionally, Trustees play a vital role in promoting KYTHE's objectives, aims, and reputation through the application of their skills, expertise, knowledge, and networks.
They are particularly interested in those who come from a background in one of the following areas: legal (with expertise in charity law), HR, communications and marketing, youth work/children’s services with an understanding of current issues and policies, property/estates management and fundraising.
You should demonstrate a capacity for creative and strategic thinking, exercising independent judgement effectively within the Board. Strong communication skills and active participation in discussions are essential, as is a strong personal commitment to KYTHE’s mission and promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion. KYTHE is a Christian organisation, therefore applicants must identify with and have the capability to lead according to KYTHE’s Christian values.
Time Commitment:
Board meetings are held in person, and occasionally remotely, with a minimum of four formal meetings per year with additional time required for attending annual events held by KYTHE. The estimated time of commitment per month is between 7- 14 hours per month, but this may vary as KYTHE continue to grow.
The term of office is three years, with an option to extend for another term.
