Job description

As an Assistant Speed Skate Coach (Volunteer), you will assist in supporting the Speed Skate Coach in delivering training sessions for athletes. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in coaching and help develop skaters of various levels, supporting them as they work towards their personal and competitive goals. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Assist in planning and delivering speed skating training sessions. 

  • Provide one-on-one or small group support during training. 

  • Help athletes develop their skating technique, speed, and endurance. 

  • Support the monitoring and tracking of participant progress. 

  • Assist with setting up and maintaining equipment before and after sessions. 

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants during practice. 

  • Create an encouraging and positive environment for skaters. 

  • Foster teamwork, good sportsmanship, and motivation. 

Skills & Qualifications 

  • Passion for speed skating and supporting athletes’ growth. 

  • Previous experience in speed skating or coaching (desirable). 

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills. 

  • Ability to work with skaters of different skill levels. 

  • Enthusiastic, patient, and able to motivate others. 

  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail. 

  • First aid qualification (desirable). 

Commitment 

  • Minimum 15 hours per week, with flexible hours.
