At the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust we believe that the best way for people to understand and connect to wetlands is to experience them so we bring awe-inspiring nature up close.  You will be directly involved in shaping our visitors’ unforgettable experiences through your warm welcome, your interaction with them and the information that you provide.  We need friendly, outgoing people to help with the canoe safari operation, ensuring that our visitors feel part of something amazing.

The role may include providing health and safety talks, fitting visitors in buoyancy aids and helping them in and out of canoes, or you may undertake tours on our electric boat.

By providing an excellent visitor experience as a member of the Welcome and Information Team, you will be encouraging our visitors to make the most of their visit to Martin Mere centre, and to understand and support our work to save wetlands for wildlife and people. The role will include:

• Acting as the first point of contact for all visitors to Martin Mere, providing them with a warm welcome along with appropriate information to aid their visit.
• Conducting specific talks to the public – scripts and training are provided.
• Conducting activities such as opening the moth traps and using props to actively engage with visitors
• Conducting guided walks of the grounds and the reserve when required – training is provided.

Are you green-fingered and have time to help nurture wildflowers for the community?

The Wetland Wildflower Project aims to grow and distribute meadow plants of local provenance to enhance the wildflower diversity of local community projects, as well as the grounds and reserve areas at WWT Slimbridge.  We will grow these plants in a recently refurbished polytunnel at Slimbridge.

Floodplain meadows are not only beautiful, but these rare, species-rich plant communities are part of the heritage of the Severn Vale.  Floodplain meadows can store more carbon than woodlands, are incredibly biodiverse and can help mitigate flooding. Unfortunately, today just over 1000ha remain in England and Wales.

To help our efforts to restore floodplain meadows and other wet grasslands in the Severn Vale, we are looking for volunteers to assist with growing wildflower plug plants in our polytunnel.

This is a great role for those who will enjoy this hands-on work behind the scenes, whilst playing a role in saving wetlands for wildlife and people.  

Tasks will include:

• Receiving simple training on the methods and essential health & safety
• Caring for plug plants e.g. weeding, hand watering, potting on plants for sale in shop and watering and replacing these, as required
• Seed collecting  and looking for pests and diseases
• Preparing plants for orders
• Ensuring optimal growing conditions in the polytunnel e.g. raising /lowering sides of tunnel, adapting automatic watering regime
• Some general maintenance, as needed, including moving trays and keeping work areas clean and safe
• Updating records, e.g. of any problems/loss of plants/transfer of plants
• Planting out plugs, as and when required 
• Supporting attendance at plant sales and fairs, as agreed

This role is vital to the work of FareShare Merseyside. You will be preparing and cooking meals for our volunteers and staff, cleaning down the kitchen, and adhering to allergen, HACCP, and other compliance checks.

For the role of the Volunteer Kitchen Lead/ Chef, a background in food is essential. If you have experience leading a small team, and adhering to food hygiene, you would be a great fit for this role.

What will I be doing?

• Learning how to use our internal Warehouse systems to ‘book out’ food, ensuring a good level of stock is available at all time.
• Planning, creating, and cooking meals from surplus food for volunteer and staff lunches.
• Carrying out routine kitchen cleaning, health and safety checks, and completing all relevant paperwork.
• Assisting with one-off corporate or fundraising events.
• Representing FareShare in a courteous and professional manner at all times.

What we need you to be:

• Minimum of 18 years old
• Experience cooking for large numbers of people
• Passionate about food and saving surplus food from going to waste
• Inventive in the kitchen and able to cook for all dietary requirements
• Positive, friendly and personable, able to interact well with different people 
• Good with numbers, identifying different foods, writing clearly  
• Able to work effectively and use your initiative in a fast-paced environment 
• Able to work well in a team and on your own   
• Able to follow FareShare’s policies & procedures

Volunteers are integral to the running of our Washington Wetland Centre. By working as part of the Maintenance team, you will help us ensure the Centre is looking at its very best and looking spick and span by keeping the facilities in excellent condition, so we can continue to provide our visitors with a great day out and showcase our work to save wetlands for wildlife and people. 

You will mainly be volunteering to assist with painting and decorating around the Centre and the occasional work in up keeping other buildings / hides as required. Tasks may include the following: 

• Preparation and painting / varnishing of wooden door frames, doors, tables and windows.
• Preparation and painting of buildings (internal and external), structures and other areas
• Occasional sanding down and repainting of benches
• Painting and treating of fences
• Sanding and painting metal work

Cameron's Cottage is a outdoor nature education centre for children and young people, based at RSPB Franchises Lodge on the edge of the New Forest. The Cottage has capacity to sleep up to 19, and welcomes both day visiting groups and those coming for a residential stay. RSPB staff lead the groups in a range of different activities, including nature walks, team building games, wildlife surveys, conservation tasks, mindfulness walks and so much more!

We are looking for someone in Dorset/Hampshire/Wiltshire area interested in helping us shout about Cameron's Cottage, share how young people can connect with nature and encourage young people to visit Cameron's Cottage .

What might this look like?

• Attending fairs or shows alongside/on behalf of the Cameron's Cottage team

• Using your social media platform and Cameron's Cottage social media pages to be a visible advocate for Cameron's Cottage to boost interaction by young people

• Share ways of how young people can get connected into their local green space, and create content or resources to facilitate this.

• Help the Cameron's Cottage team improve their offer, particularly activities, to be more inclusive and interesting to young people.

• in any other innovative ideas to help Cameron's Cottage meet its targets to connect a diverse range of young people with nature

Treasurer (Trustee) - CPRE Oxfordshire

We’re passionate about making the countryside in Oxfordshire a better place for everyone to enjoy. Our vibrant team of volunteers inspire people to care for the countryside and enjoy the benefits it brings wherever they live.

With your support we can do even more! As treasurer you’ll have an essential role in planning and accounting for our finances to ensure the long-term sustainability of our charity you will also be a member of the CPRE Oxfordshire’s Board of Trustees.

Our friendly team will provide you with training and support to develop in your role. You’ll gain valuable skills and experience in the financial management of a charity.

As treasurer you’ll ensure our financial affairs are conducted within legal requirements and good practice. You’ll work closely with the team to oversee the financial sustainability and development of our charity.

We’re ideally looking for volunteers with experience in financial management and a passion for environmental and countryside issues.

As a guide, we anticipate this voluntary role will take 3-4 hours per week. The Board of Trustees meets 3 times a year plus an AGM (normally a Saturday in June/July). There are 3 additional Operational management meetings a year that you would be required to attend.

What you will be doing:

· Keeping accurate records of income and expenditure in line with legal regulation.

· ​ Helping us to set an annual budget and periodically produce an updated rolling five yearly financial plan which will help assess the future viability of the charity

· Regularly reviewing the reserves policy considering the latest Charity Commission guidance, seek approval from trustees for any amendments

· Providing advice to trustees on investments when the level of reserves exceeds 12 months of expenditure considering latest Charity Commission guidance

· Being a signatory for cheque payments, reimbursing invoices, paying monthly staff salaries and expenses

·  Preparing financial reports and appoint auditors annually to independently audit and inspect the accounts

· Ensuring that the final accounts are produced in accordance with the Charities Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP) and that funds are correctly identified. The chair's annual report must be in accordance with SORP

· Working with the charity’s secretary ensure that the approved annual and audited accounts are presented to Companies House on time

· Summarising a set of accounts to be presented at the AGM. 

·  Leading the annual review of finance policies and procedures advising trustees of any changes

· Acting as the lead contact for both the charity’s bank and CCLA Investment Management Limited.  Ensure that the mandates for both organisations reflect the latest finance procedures

· Regularly review cash flow and ensure that funds are available in the current bank account to meet day to day activities

·  Updating National CPRE about our charity finances

· Assisting with funding applications and accounting for external funding

· Where relevant, ensuring employment regulations are met e.g. staff salaries, pensions.  Advise chair and seek approval from trustees on the annual pay award for staff

·  Safeguarding the good name and values of our charity

· We ask that a treasurer is willing to become a trustee of the charity and a member of CPRE

The skills you need:

· A commitment to CPRE policies, brand, campaigns and initiatives

·  Ability to keep accurate records and confidence in handling finances

·  Experience of setting and managing budgets

· Experience in financial software and spread sheets

· Experience of forward planning income and expenditure

· Be able to provide financial updates and present information in an understandable way

The Trafford Centre Foundation is a new charitable grant-making trust undergoing formation and approval. In the coming few months, the Foundation is aiming to distribute funding received from the Trafford Centre’s owners, employees, brand partners and visitors to support communities within the North-West.

The Foundation is a key pillar of For Our Future, the Trafford Centre ESG programme, and is being established as part of a wider commitment of the owners of The Trafford Centre to positively support the Greater Manchester community and to work with partners, suppliers and key stakeholders to reduce our environmental impact.

The Charity looking for two additional Trustees with one acting as the Chair of the Trustee Board. The role of Chair is a key leadership role and provides the successful candidate with an opportunity to help curate the strategic aspirations of the Foundation and through leadership of the trustees deliver on the Foundation’s mission and goals. The Chair will work closely with trustees, to create a culture of excellence and accountability.

The organisation is purely grant awarding with no direct operations. The second role of an Independent Trustee is to work with the appointed board to deliver on the Foundation’s mission.

Trustees must be over 18 and must not have been disqualified under the Charities Act 2011 from acting as a trustee of a charity.

Applicants must be entirely independent of the Trafford Centre Limited and the onsite management team including suppliers, consultants and professional advisors.

Responsibilities of the Chair:

• Ensure trustees meet all legal obligations and responsibilities in accordance with charity law and governance best practices.
• Promote The Trafford Centre Foundation's strategic goals and work to develop trustee meeting agendas that support these objectives.
• Promote an inclusive and collaborative atmosphere across the Foundation.
• Uphold high standards across all areas of the Foundation’s operations, ensuring alignment with its values and goals.
• Maintain a well-planned board meetings calendar to oversee grant award operations.Chair board meetings effectively, ensuring agendas, reports, and minutes are prepared, circulated, and followed up on efficiently.Ensure timely review and approval of policies and procedures.
• Facilitate trustee involvement in all procedures of the Foundation.
• Collaborate with the delivery team to conduct regular governance reviews, ensuring the board’s size, composition, and skills are fit for purpose.
• Stay informed about the Foundation’s key risks and ensure these are reviewed and addressed regularly.
• Foster active participation from trustees in discussions and decision-making processes.

Responsibilities of all Trustees

• To set and maintain the Foundation’s vision, mission and values.
• To ensure compliance with the articles of association, charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations.
• To maintain proper financial control and ensure the Foundation applies its resources exclusively in line with its objectives.
• To monitor the implementation of internal policies and procedures. These include equity and diversity as well as safeguarding.
• To ensure that risk assessments for all aspects of the business are carried out.
• To maintain effective board performance and ensure the productive and efficient administration of the charity including funding and insurance.
• To promote the Foundation and act in the best interests of the charity, never in the interests of yourself or another organisation.

Essential Experience and Skills:

• Leadership & Governance: An ability to provide strategic direction, oversee governance and ensure compliance with the Foundation's objectives and procedures.
• Decision Making: Strong judgement to assess funding priorities and approve grants responsibly.
• Financial Acumen: Understanding of financial management, budgeting and risk assessment.
• Communication & Influence: Excellent communication skills to engage trustees, stakeholders and founders.
• Ethical & Values Driven Approach: A commitment to transparency, accountability and the Foundation's mission.

Role Location: Quarterly Board meetings are held in person, where possible, at the Trafford Centre in Manchester. Any additional board meetings will generally in person at Trafford Centre with an ability to attend virtually if required from time to time.

Duration of Board Appointments: The term of appointment is three years and you may be re-appointed for a second term subject to the continuing relevance of your skills and contribution.

Remuneration: This is a voluntary position. However, reasonable expenses incurred in the role of Chair and Trustee will be reimbursed.

We need someone to lead a group of enthusiastic people who are passionate about supporting the RSPB and exploring local wildlife. The group runs a full programme of activities, from outdoor walks and indoor talks to fundraising events. As the group leader, you will primarily lead the group and oversee things. You will be part of a friendly and helpful committee that share the same vision of bringing people closer to nature. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to use your leadership skills to make a valuable contribution to the work of the RSPB.
