Job description

We are converting Warm Wales from a CIC to a charity to open up new opportunities and ensure the organisation structure underpins it’s mission. Our Board of Trustees is currently a small one of 4; we would love to expand our number to include people with a wide range of business experience in order to support us. This is a voluntary role but not an overly demanding one, we meet once a quarter and are very conscious of our colleagues' valuable time.

The Board of Trustees are keen to recruit new trustees to help us grow and develop and we are keen to recruit new trustees who have any of the following skills and experience:

  • Third sector or charity organisations
  • Marketing, PR, or communications
  • Risk management
  • Welsh language speakers or learners

Experience of previous Trusteeship would be advantageous but not necessary, we can assist with training.

What difference will you make?

You will strengthen and diversify our Trustee Board; you will bring your wealth of knowledge and experience to help and support us, your input will be invaluable in pushing our plans forward and you will be working with some of the most enthusiastic people in the voluntary sector.

The general responsibilities of trustees:

• Ensure that Warm Wales complies with its governing document, charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations.

• Ensure that Warm Wales pursues its objects as defined in its governing document.

• Ensure Warm Wales applies its resources exclusively in pursuance of its objects.

• Contribute actively to the Board of Trustees' role in giving firm strategic direction to Warm Wales, setting overall policy, defining goals and setting targets, and evaluating performance against agreed targets.

• Seek to ensure the financial stability of Warm Wales.

In addition to these statutory duties, each Trustee should use any specific skills, knowledge or experience they have to help the Board of Trustees reach sound decisions. This may involve scrutinising board papers, leading discussions, focusing on key issues, providing guidance on new initiatives or any other issues in which the Trustee has specialist expertise.

Terms of appointment

The initial term is 3 years including an inital co-option period of 6 months as a trial period and if we then agree to continue, a further 2 years and 6 months.

The Trustees meet four times each year as a Board. These meetings are held during the working day in our Port Talbot office but Trustees who are further afield may join online.

The interview process will involve current Board members so you will have the opportunity to meet some of the people with whom you could be working in the future.

Trusteeship is a voluntary, unpaid role, but if you possess the energy and skills to make a real contribution to tackling fuel poverty which often hits the most vlnerable members of society, you will find the work extremely rewarding.

If you want to make a difference and you share our ambitions and aspirations please apply to become a Trustee. You will be warmly welcomed.  If you are interested in applying to join our board, please send us your CV.
