About the role

The Visits Abroad Process Team Leader plays a key role in overseeing and enhancing the Visits Abroad process for UK Scouts. This role will focus on reviewing and improving the Visits Abroad process, meets external standards, ensuring it is effectively embedded into the new membership system, and providing support for Local Counties and Regions. Additionally, the role will include maintaining and updating the Visits Abroad webpage, leading data analysis and metrics for better decision-making, and facilitating forums to support ongoing development. The Team Lead will also hold the position of UK Visits Abroad National Recommender, ensuring that all visits meet the necessary requirements.

This role is essential in ensuring that UK Scouts have a streamlined and well-supported process for planning and conducting international visits while maintaining high standards of safety, safeguarding, and best practice.

Key tasks

  • Lead the review and refinement of the Visits Abroad process, ensuring it meets the needs of UK Scouting.
  • Maintain and enhance the Visits Abroad webpage, ensuring it remains an up-to-date and useful resource.
  • Ensure the Visits Abroad process is effectively integrated into the new membership system, working closely with development teams.
  • Manage and oversee Visits Abroad data mapping, improving how information is tracked and reported.
  • Recommend and support the creation of Visits Abroad support forums, helping leaders and teams share best practices and guidance.
  • Identify gaps in Visits Abroad Recommender and Visits Abroad Approver cover.
  • Hold the role of National Recommender for Visits Abroad, ensuring a thorough and consistent approval process.
  • Provide guidance and training for leaders planning international trips, ensuring compliance with policies and best practices.
  • Work closely with the UK International Team and other relevant stakeholders to align the Visits Abroad process with other international Scouting initiatives.
  • Ensure that safety, safeguarding, and risk assessment considerations are embedded within the Visits Abroad process.
  • Promote awareness of the Visits Abroad process within UK Scouting, including representation at events and through digital communications.
