Volunteer Coach
The Access Project supports pupils from under-resourced backgrounds to access top universities. We are looking for individuals with the willingness to coach a young person aged 16-18, online, one hour a month from January 2025 to June 2025 to support them with their skills building.
What’s involved?
•Coach a young person through our key skills building programme, designed to help them to realise their potential and be ready for their future. These key skills include: communication, problem solving, collaboration and organisation.
•Work with a motivated and ambitious young person, during their future defining years.
•Build transferable skills, experience and knowledge through ongoing training and development as part of the role.
•Students supported by The Access Project are 50% more likely to attend top universities than their comparable peers.
No prior coaching or mentoring experience is necessary, we provide a full comprehensive training and induction programme to help you build the confidence to be the best volunteer you can be.
Interested? You’ll need to:
· Be able to spare one hour a month over the next six months to coach (starting January 2025), plus reasonable preparation time ahead of each session.
· Be prepared to undertake an enhanced DBS check (criminal records check) and provide two references (personal or professional).
How does it work?
1. Sign up on our website.
2. Sign up to any of our 2 hour training sessions over October and November. T, there are various dates so you can find one that suits you: During this session you’ll learn everything you need to know about the skills coaching, our purpose designed programme, and the support you will receive to be the best volunteer you can be.
3. You’ll complete a DBS check (criminal records check) and an online safeguarding course.
4. We’ll propose a ‘smart match’ between you and a young person who will benefit from your experience.
