WE ARE SEEKING AN AMAZING PERSON TO HELP US DELIVER AND GROW A SERVICE FOR YOUNG PEOPLE AGED 13 – 19 WHO ARE PART OF THE LGBTQ+ COMMUNITY

 

We are looking for a very special person to join our amazing youth work team in Streatham. Working with young people aged 13 – 19 you will run a weekly youth club on Thursday evenings, aimed at supporting them to grow in resilience, confidence and self-esteem. Using a range of methods including mentoring, coaching, peer mentoring, creativity, and the arts you will support young people to reach their full potential and be the best they can be. You will have a good understanding of the issues effecting young people from the LGBTQI+ community and be aware of other services that might be available to them.

You will seek to work in partnership with other local youth organisations, these will include LGBTQ+ groups and all-inclusive groups.

Colours and friends will have monthly events including trips out. Some on the weekends.

 

 

You are creative, energetic and a great communicator.

Job Purpose:

 

To run a project for young people aged 13 – 19 who identify with the LGBTQ+ community

 

• Plan and deliver engaging activities

• Work with our partners on the promotion or organisation of workshops and events

• Help young people to express themselves

• Help young people to develop confidence

• Communicate with young people and be a role model

• Support young people access other support or clinical services

• Provide additional 1-2-1 or family support

• Build partnerships with other professional services such as schools and GPs

• Consult with young people on what additional services they need and help us to create them

• Attending management meetings

• Monitoring and evaluation

 

 

 

The post holder must comply with Streatham Youth and Community Trusts health and safety policy and is required: -

 

• To take reasonable care for their own health and safety at work and of those who may be affected by their actions or by their omissions

• To cooperate with their line manager and senior management, to work safely, to comply with health and safety instructions and information and undertake appropriate health and safety training as required

• Not to intentionally or recklessly interfere with or misuse anything provided in the interests of health, safety and welfare

• To report to their manager any health and safety concerns, hazardous condition or defect in the health and safety arrangements.

 

Any further Health and Safety responsibilities relevant to this post will be set out in the offer letter and employee handbook

 

The post holder must comply with Streatham Youth and Community Trusts Safeguarding policies for safeguarding children and safeguarding adults and is required:-

 

• To ensure they are aware of the signs that may suggest a child or vulnerable adult is being abused or neglected

• To report to their manager, or other appropriate manager, any concerns they may have that suggest that a child or vulnerable adult may be being abused or neglected immediately

 

Any further Safeguarding Board responsibilities relevant to this post will be set out in the offer letter and employee handbook

 

Post holders will be accountable for carrying out all duties and responsibilities with due regard to the Streatham Youth and Community Trusts Equality Policy.
