About the National Examining Board for Dental Nurses

NEBDN, the National Examining Board for Dental Nurses, stands as a cornerstone in the realm of dental nurse education and training, boasting a rich history dating back to 1943. As both a registered charity and a Company Limited by Guarantee, NEBDN has been steadfast in its commitment to providing a diverse array of well-established qualifications for dental nurses throughout the United Kingdom.

About the role.

Joining the National Examining Board for Dental Nurses (NEBDN) as a Trustee offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the advancement of dental nurse education and future qualifications. The role of the Chair of the Finance and Business Effectiveness Committee involves guiding the organisation’s strategic direction and ensuring its compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

You will be part of the governance and strategic oversight of NEBDN, participating in board meetings, and chairing subcommittees focused on finance, governance and education standards. You will provide financial oversight, participating in decisions regarding investments and resource allocation to maintain the organisation’s financial stability, uphold its values and drive its mission forward.

As a Trustee, you must be committed to the NEBDN’s vision and values, and understand the significant impact you will have on the future of dental nursing by influencing policies, ensuring high standards in education and assessments, and supporting the professional development of dental nurses across the UK.

Who we are looking for.

The ideal candidate will possess a blend of strategic vision, governance experience, and a deep commitment to advancing dental nurse education. Essential qualities include strong analytical skills, the ability to think critically, and a collaborative approach to working with other Board members. Experience in the healthcare or education sectors, particularly in roles involving oversight and regulatory compliance, will be highly beneficial. Additionally, candidates should possess a solid understanding of financial management to support the organisation’s financial stability and strategic growth. While experience in investment decisions is advantageous, it is not essential.

Excellent communication skills, integrity and a passion for the NEBDN’s mission are crucial, ensuring that the candidate can effectively advocate for high standards in dental nurse training and support the professional growth of dental nurses nationwide. The candidate should also be innovative, forward-thinking, and capable of taking a balanced approach to decision-making, with the ability to actively listen and involve others in the process. A positive and engaging demeanour that fits well with a friendly and principled board culture is essential.
