Join the Oxfam community
At Oxfam Northern Hub in Batley, we sell donated clothing, textiles and accessories through a number of online platforms. We focus on showcasing our most fabulous donations; from on trend high street to designer labels and vintage pieces.
Become a Online Hub Volunteer
As an Online Hub Volunteer you can help with whatever part of the business that interests you. We will give you all the training and support you need so you will develop your skills as part of our team. You don’t need to have any experience – we’ve got you covered. You can also get some lunch and travel costs too. Whatever you need, we’re here to help.
Build your CV, skills, and confidence by volunteering at our fantastic online hub.
You can try a bit of everything or specialise in key areas:
Upcycling & garment repair: Make the most out of each donation! You’ll be responsible for hanging and steaming clothing and homewares, identifying damaged items and if you’re handy with a needle and thread, helping out with basic repairs.
Photography: Showcase the amazing donations we receive! You’ll be responsible for photographing and editing, ready for listing for sale online.
Online Shop Lister: You’ll create accurate, exciting, and consistent listings, pricing stock, measuring garments and uploading this information to our online listing programme. You will be given the opportunity to specialise in areas such as Womenswear, Menswear, Kids and Homeware.
Warehouse Operative: Your role is essential in giving the best possible customer service. You’ll be responsible for picking items that have sold, packing then sending them to their new home.
Social media: This volunteer role uses photography to showcase the vibrant happenings at the Oxfam Batley Hub. Highlighting unique items and fantastic displays to create engaging content, raise the Hubs presence whilst promoting items on the online shop and attracting other volunteers.
Book Lister: This role is great for those who love books. You would evaluate the condition and value of the donated books, research their history, and identify first editions and signed copies.
Music sorter: Similar to the book lister role, our music sorter would review and sort the many types of music that has been donated into types, genres and conditions. This is a great role for those who have a knowledge and interest in music.
Festival Warehouse volunteer: Gain experience in logistics and warehouse organisation with our Festival Shop as they plan, create, audit stock and props in the warehouse before loading vans and wagons for festivals all over the country
Jewellery volunteer: Calling all magpies – we are looking for someone to mend and create new treasures from our jewellery donations to be sold at our Festival Shops.
Festivals and events: If you are creative and into fashion, festival style, vintage clothing, sustainability, textiles then this is the team for you. Come and join us getting organised for next years festivals. This could be making or repairing props, recycling, and upcycling donated goods or even producing mood boards for the relevant festival.
Festival stewards: Oxfam Festival Volunteering is a fantastic way to attend your favourite festivals for free. To see some amazing acts. And make new friends. All while supporting Oxfam's work to end poverty around the world. You can choose to be a steward and provide directions to the festival-going public, check wristbands, or patrol campsites and arenas. Expressions of interest are open on our website.
