Job description

Are you an experienced bid writer looking for an opportunity to make a real impact? Legasee, a charity dedicated to preserving and sharing the stories of British military veterans, is seeking a Volunteer Bid Writer to help secure funding and support the next phase of our mission.

About Legasee

Legasee Educational Trust is committed to capturing and preserving the lived experiences of British military veterans. Our extensive digital archive contains hundreds of in-depth filmed interviews, providing an invaluable resource for historians, educators, and the wider public. We are now entering an exciting phase of development—expanding our archive’s educational reach while continuing to record new stories that highlight the service and sacrifice of veterans.

To deliver on these opportunities, we need funding. That’s where you come in.

The Role

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented volunteer to:

  • Research and identify suitable funding opportunities.
  • Write compelling funding proposals aligned with our projects and potential partner organisations.
  • Prepare and submit high-quality grant applications in a timely manner.
  • Build relationships with funders and contribute to the charity’s long-term sustainability.
  • Collaborate with our small, friendly team to shape our funding strategy.

What We’re Looking For

  • Prior experience in bid writing, fundraising, or grant applications (helpful but not essential).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong research and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • A collaborative approach to teamwork and relationship-building.

What You’ll Gain

  • A chance to develop your skills and demonstrate success in fundraising.
  • The opportunity to make a tangible impact—your work will directly support our ability to continue capturing and sharing veterans’ stories.
  • A flexible and supportive volunteer experience with a passionate team.

If you’re excited by the opportunity to use your skills to help Legasee thrive, we’d love to hear from you.
