Trustee Treasurer for Community and Foodbank Charity
Hope Nottingham is a Christian Charity who welcomes those of any or no faith. Our vision is to inspire and grow communities of hope where poverty of resources, relationships and spirit are met through local people volunteering.
We began as a small drop in café with a dozen volunteers in 2010 and have now grown to encompass 14 foodbanks supporting communities across the Nottingham area, with main hubs in Beeston and Carlton, seeking to offer holistic and life-changing support for hundreds of people. This includes community cafes, meals, friendship and art groups, job clubs, ESOL and literacy groups, foodclubs, faith based activities and an allotment. We currently have 370 registered volunteers who in the last reporting year gave almost 30,000 hours of their time and skills. We hold the East and West Nottingham Trussell Franchise, issuing c10,000 food parcels a year and partner with various churches and organisations including Citizens Advice Bureau.
We are already blessed with an already strong Board of Trustees with experience across general charity leadership, HR, and project management. Our current Treasurer steps down shortly and we wish to recruit a new Treasurer with suitable qualifications and/or financial experience. This role will be supported by our Chair and existing Assistant Treasurer, as well as working closely with our CEO.
Key responsibilities of our Treasurer are :
- Providing financial oversight and governance, ensuring our financial policies and procedures safeguard and build on our financial resources
- Overseeing our annual budgeting, forecasting and regular reporting Helping communicate our financial position and financial duties and responsibilities to the Board to assist with decision making
- Supporting our fundraising including helping identify income streams
- Supporting our Independent Annual audit and signing off our accounts
You should ideally hold a financial qualification and/or have experience in a Treasurer or Senior financial role. The role will require an Enhanced DBS check (arranged by us), references and usual trustee eligibility checks. Terms are for 3 years to a maximum of 3 terms.
