Job description
Home-Start Camden and Islington is a registered charity committed to promoting the welfare of families with at least one child under five years of age. Supported by dedicated and experienced staff, our family support volunteers offer regular support, friendship, and practical help to families under stress in their own homes, helping to prevent family crisis and breakdown.
Commitment: 1 day per week Tuesday or Wednesday from 9.30am until 4pm
Responsible for: Supporting the Home-Start Camden and Islington Staff with general office administration and social media tasks.
Location: Home-Start Camden and Islington Office, 7 Dowdney Close, Kentish Town, NW5 2BP
Core Responsibilities:
- Support the Operations Manager with all administrative tasks as directed.
- Monitor our general enquiries inbox, maintaining confidentiality at all times and responding to enquiries in a timely manner.
- Create content to be attractive, informative and inclusive.
- Post across Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn to promote the organisation.
- Processing new referrals by passing the information from new enquiries to the appropriate staff members.
- Supporting the wider staff team with digital tasks.
- Answering the office phone, dealing with enquiries where possible and passing messages to the appropriate parties in an efficient manner.
- Form key relationships with organisations, influencers and brands.
- Create new ideas to make the best use of our social media to improve our engagement with families we support, and existing and potential volunteers.
- Maintain strict GDPR and confidentiality practices at all times.
- Monitor and report on the engagement rates of each post/platform to inform our messaging.
- Shredding confidential paperwork, photocopying, and scanning as needed.
- Greeting visitor to the office, ensuring they are comfortable and feel welcomed.
- Setting up the meeting room for various events, conferences, and training days.
- Distributing flyers and posters to increase family referrals and volunteer recruitment across community spaces in Camden and Islington.
- Shopping for refreshments and other one-off items as needed.
- Organising donations and office space.
- Updating official Home-Start Camden and Islington correspondence forms to reflect the correct contact information etc. Additional Responsibilities based on volunteer’s interests and skills.
- Designing posters for events using pre-set templates on Canva.
Person Specification
- A good understanding of the best practice for maximum social media engagement (ie: best time of day to post, how to write comments and captions that will gain engagement) and a willingness to learn more about this
- Awareness of latest social media trends and etiquettes
- Proactive and excited to take on their own project
- Creativity and Canva skills
- A keen interest in social media
- An interest in our work with families in crisis
- Strong communication skills
