Job description

For over 30 years, Heart of BS13 has been working to address health inequalities in Hartcliffe and Withywood in South Bristol, which ranks among the 10% most deprived communities in the UK. We are breaking the cycle of transgenerational poverty our community faces by joining the dots between employment, health, and climate action, taking important steps to reduce poverty, improve health, create training and employment opportunities in the green economy, and empower our residents to have a voice in addressing the climate crisis.

We have set up several social enterprises to help fund our work and allow us to become less grant-reliant, which include a sustainable flower farm and floristry, a frozen ready meals enterprise, a composting/food waste collections business, and venue hire of our unique outdoor space.

Your role
As Treasurer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the financial health and sustainability of Heart of BS13. Your responsibilities will include:

- Supporting financial planning, budgeting, and reporting

- Managing financial risks and ensuring compliance with charity regulations

- Providing guidance on fundraising strategies and diversifying income streams

- Collaborating with the CEO, trustees and staff to make strategic financial decisions

- Supporting the organisation’s long-term financial sustainability and growth

Expertise
We are seeking someone with:

- good knowledge of the charity sector, financial management, and funding mechanisms

- experience in financial planning, budgeting, and financial reporting

- strong analytical and problem-solving skills

- the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders and work collaboratively as part of a team

- commitment to the mission and values of Heart of BS13
