Job description

About Us

Headway East London is a charity supporting people affected by brain injury. Working across 13 London boroughs we offer specialist support and services for survivors and their families. We offer therapies, advocacy, family support and community support work alongside our day service: a community venue where people can make the most of their abilities and interests. We also promote awareness and understanding of brain injury by providing information to the public, and offering training to university students, professionals and businesses. Our vision is to build a community where people with brain injury are valued, respected and able to fulfil their potential

About the role

We are looking for a Marketing Volunteer to support us to develop a promotional strategy for our new documentary film, The Magic of Chaos – a 20-minute short film about Headway East London, directed by award-winning director Kit Vincent in collaboration with our community of members and staff.

The film follows the journeys of four Londoners – Yoki, Dave, Margie and Marie-Claire – and through their stories, offers a powerful glimpse into Headway East London, a place where the transformative power of art, music, food and above all community bring light to lives forever changed by brain injury.

This role would suit someone who has experience in communications, PR and marketing, has a passion for film and social causes.

Main Duties

We are looking for someone with experience in promoting digital content to support us in developing a strategy for sharing and promoting this inspirational film far and wide, so we can raise awareness about brain injury and the services we provide.

We are looking for a volunteer to give practical advice and support in one or more of these areas:

·       Planning release strategies for each platform, with target audiences and goals

·       Designing a social media campaign (e.g. launch on TikTok) and tools to track engagement

·       Researching and creating content for online communities – bloggers, influencers, Facebook groups – to share with their networks

·       Researching film festivals and awards to submit applications, initiate relationships with film curators and programmers

·       Creating a press kit for the film to send out to media contacts

·       Supporting a broader awareness-raising campaign around the film, including sending to local MPs in boroughs we support members from.

Commitment

The role requires a minimum commitment of at least 1 month, working with our Public Engagement & Communications team for 2-3 hours per week during our working hours (Monday-Friday, 9am-4.30pm).

Selection

The deadline to apply is Monday 14th October 2024 at 10am. The selection process is as follows:

·       Fill out a short application form.

·       Applicants will be invited for an informal interview.

·       A start date will be agreed with the successful applicant, pending references
