The Organisation:

Saint Catherine’s Hospice stands as a beacon of compassion and excellence in palliative care dedicated to supporting individuals and families facing life-limiting illnesses. Located in a serene and beautiful environment, the hospice offers a sanctuary where patients receive not only expert medical care but also emotional and spiritual support. Their comprehensive services include pain and symptom management, holistic therapies, and end-of-life care, all designed to ensure that every patient lives as fully and comfortably as possible.

The heart of Saint Catherine’s Hospice lies in their unwavering commitment to their values and mission. They believe in treating each patient with the utmost dignity and respect, providing personalised care that honours their individual needs and wishes. Saint Catherine’s mission is to enhance the quality of life for those they care for, offering a compassionate and supportive community where patients and their families can find solace and strength during challenging times. They strive to create an environment where love, kindness, and empathy are at the forefront of everything they do.

Working at Saint Catherine’s Hospice means becoming part of a dedicated and passionate team that values collaboration and creativity. Staff members are encouraged to think outside the box, bringing innovative solutions to the unique challenges faced by their patients. The supportive team atmosphere fosters a sense of belonging and mutual respect, ensuring that every team member feels values and empowered to make a difference. The beautiful location provides a peaceful and inspiring setting, enhancing the well-being of staff and patients.

The Role:

We seek both senior executives and "rising stars"—individuals aiming to use this role for career development. Ideally, candidates will possess skills in legal, business, marketing, education, and income generation. The organisation values individuals with a network of contacts who can add significant value.

More important than anything else is the candidate’s enthusiasm and commitment to the hospice. This role is about more than just attending meetings—it's about being part of something truly extraordinary and being willing to dedicate the necessary time and effort, including attending key events.

Goals include achieving financial independence, reducing reliance on NHS funding, shifting towards community-based service delivery, and fostering innovation. Saint Catherine’s aims to offer essential services to communities, develop strategic approaches to drive progress, challenge current thinking, introduce new ideas, and secure its future.

A trustee of Saint Catherine’s must be committed to the mission and values of the organisation and possess a clear understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities, and liabilities associated with trusteeship. Essential qualities include integrity, strategic vision, creative thinking, and good independent judgement. Trustees must also work effectively as part of a team, have strong communication and interpersonal skills, and maintain impartiality, fairness, and confidentiality. While experience at a senior management level or within a board in charitable, public, or commercial sectors is desirable, it is not essential.
