About Us

The Child Beale Trust is the registered charity behind Beale Wildlife Park, a unique 350-acre estate on the banks of the River Thames. We combine recreation, wildlife conservation and education to create a meaningful and memorable experience for our visitors.

We are at an exciting stage of development and are seeking a new Chair of the Board of Trustees to help guide our strategic direction, support effective governance, and champion our charitable aims.

The Role

As Chair of the Board, you will lead a passionate and skilled group of trustees. You will work closely with the CEO, acting as a critical ambassador for the Trust. Your leadership will help ensure we meet our charitable objectives, maintain financial stability, and deliver long-term impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership to the Board of Trustees and ensure effective governance
  • Chair board meetings and support subcommittees as needed
  • Act as a sounding board and support to the CEO
  • Represent the Trust at public functions and with key stakeholders
  • Ensure the Board fulfils its duties in line with the Charity Commission’s guidance

About You

We are looking for someone with:

  • Previous board or leadership experience
  • Strong strategic thinking and the ability to lead a diverse group
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills
  • An understanding of charity governance and the role of a trustee
  • A commitment to our mission, values, and the long-term success of the charity

Why Join Us?

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a lasting difference to a unique charity that enriches lives through wildlife, learning, and green space. As Chair, you’ll help shape the future of one of Berkshire’s most cherished visitor attractions and conservation sites.

*Please note, this is a voluntary position with no renumeration*
