Volunteer Fundraising team leader

Our fundraising team leaders have the exciting and varied role of inspiring our fundraising volunteers to plan and deliver local fundraising events. Using their passion and imagination, they oversee a small team of fundraising volunteers who come together to raise the vital funds needed to cover costs such as veterinary bills and food. Our fundraising team leaders support their team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure our volunteers are happy, confident and supported.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work closely with the counselling administrative team and the counselling manager.

About the role

The Ascent Counselling Service is a specialist therapeutic support service for women and girls aged 16 and over, who have experienced domestic and/or sexual abuse by an intimate partner or family member. This can include physical, emotional, psychological, sexual and financial abuse, coercive control, harassment, stalking and other harmful practices, such as FGM and honour-based violence.

Our counselling service is delivered as part of the Ascent Advice and Counselling partnership. Our counsellors create a safe space for survivors to explore the impact of abuse on their lives, help them to recover from the long-term impact and support them to make positive changes for themselves.

This opportunity is ideal for someone looking to gain experience in administration within a busy counselling team. The role will involve a range of administrative tasks such as:

• Data entry in our case management system
• Booking assessments/sessions appointments
• Sending appointment reminders to clients
• Gathering feedback, as well as other tasks as and when required.

Who are we looking for?

No formal qualifications are required for this role. We are looking for volunteers who have:

• Good administrative skills, including proficient use of Zoom/Microsoft Teams, Microsoft packages and Outlook
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Good organisational skills
• Good understanding of confidentiality and professional boundaries.
• An understanding of the issues faced by survivors and a desire to build on this.
• An understanding of professional boundaries and confidentiality
• Good listening skills and an empathic, non-judgemental approach.

If you're looking to meet new people and make a real difference in your local community, this role is for you. Leading the support group in North Walsham and Alysham, you'll help people affected by Parkinson's to draw on invaluable support from their peers. 

We are looking for a coordinator to organise the running the group. Thie role involves booking meeting venue and organising speakers and activities along with the other group volunteers.

We’re looking for people who like being part of a team and want to make a difference. Would you like a flexible role, where much of it can be done from home at a time that suits you? This role supports the financial administration of the Branch and includes paying invoices and volunteer expenses. 

Previous book -keeping experience is not essential as all financial forms are provided and are simple to use. You will be supported by local staff contact and Branch committee. 

This role is flexible to fit around you but makes a huge differnece to Parkinsons community as it enables the Branch to provide much needed activities and fundraising.

GENERAL ASSISTANT

RSPCA OXFORDSHIRE

Do you want to make a difference to the lives of animals in Oxfordshire? This is a hands-on role doing all sorts of varied tasks from rescuing a pigeon to answering the phone. 

Overview of opportunity

As a Volunteer General Assistant, you would provide support to the Operations Manager in a range of roles. It might be dropping off a cat trap, collecting an injured animal and taking it to the vet or a wildlife sanctuary to answering the phone and administration. This is a varied role that enables you to learn all about the rehabilitation and rehoming of animals and the lovely people who choose to adopt from the RSPCA. 

About the RSPCA OXFORDSHIRE Branch

The Oxfordshire RSPCA was founded in 1875, we have been saving animals for 150 years and are proud to be part of the oldest welfare charity around. It has always been our vision to live in a world where all animals are respected and treated with compassion, so our volunteers and employees work tirelessly to ensure that all animals can live free from pain and suffering.

The OXFORDSHIRE Branch is an independent and registered charity looking after animals in our local area. Much of the animal welfare work of RSPCA is carried out through local branches, which is run by volunteers who have the support of the National Society of RSPCA.

The main activity of our branch is to rescue and rehabilitate animals the Inspectors rescued from cruelty and neglect.

Volunteer General Assistant responsibilities

•  Rescuing injured wildlife – training will be given
•  Setting cat traps, collecting cats and transportation
•  Answering the phone
• Collecting donated food
• Completion of adoption paperwork
•  Updating and maintaining the Animal Shelter Manager database
•  Follow up contact with adopters’ post-adoption
• Making up adoption/foster packs

Our voluntary roles are subject to an informal interview and trial period. We will ask you to provide contact details for two referees, and dependant on the position, you may need to sign an agreement and undergo specific training before starting the role.

We are SUNSHINE, an inspiring brand new start-up grassroots social isolation charity with a mission to make a BIG impact. Our aim is to bring people together, spread happiness, and nurture community spirit through initiatives that build relationships, enhance wellbeing, and transform lives. We focus on supporting those at risk and living in social isolation, ensuring they have access to our support when they need it most.

We're at the beginning of our journey as a start-up and currently an unregistered charity, working towards our charity status within the next 2-3 months.

We’re seeking a volunteer to take on the essential role of Treasurer/Accountant, who will manage our financial management and controls and ensure our resources are used effectively to achieve our mission.

As the Treasurer/Accountant, you will play a crucial role in our transformative mission. Your role will involve:

• Financial Steward: Manage and oversee the financial affairs of our charity, ensuring transparency and accountability.
• Budget Planner: Develop and monitor budgets, providing financial reports and insights to guide our strategic decisions.
• Resource Manager: Ensure our resources are allocated efficiently and effectively to support our initiatives.
• Compliance Officer: Ensure we comply with all financial regulations and legal requirements.
• Strategic Partner: Work closely with the board and leadership team to align our financial strategy with our mission and goals.

Are you a people person? Do you enjoy bringing people together? Are you a great organiser? Join Team Parkinson’s and be a part of the Isle of Wight Branch, a core part of the local Parkinson's community.

Parkinson's UK local groups offer friendship, support, and numerous activities for people affected by Parkinson's. From arranging yoga to bowls you will help your local team to organise activities that provide a chance for those living with Parkinson's to get together.

As a great communicator you will build connections, promote the group and bring people together as Team Parkinson’s.

You'll build existing connections and meet new people in your local area, all whilst making a difference to those living with Parkinson's in your area.

The group meets regularly, and many of our volunteers undertake parts of their roles from home - at a time that suits them.

Are you a great communicator who enjoys bringing people together? Local groups across the UK are run by volunteers and offer friendship and support to people living with Parkinson's and their families and friends. We need great organisers who can keep our members and volunteers connected to our local group’s range of activities.

What you will be doing

Help organise and promote the groups range of activities
Keep up to date about the news and developments of Parkinson's UK more widely, sharing these with the group
Encourage and inspire others to engage with activities
Attend regular committee meetings and take and circulate notes
Work with local Parkinson's UK staff to ensure the group runs within Parkinson's UK governance procedures

The skills you need

Strong administrative, organisational, communication and IT skills to help keep the group running smoothly
Good collaboration skills - support the team to be inclusive, open to a diversity of views
Positive attitude; making things happen in your local community and bringing people together to work as a team
Supportive; able to listen to the needs of people with Parkinson's, and reflect these to the group to shape the support provided
Honest; you'll know when to ask for help, or when tasks might be seen as less important, and able to share that with Parkinson's UK and your group
