In this, our 30th Anniversary year, Frantic Assembly is seeking people to join our Board who share our mission and values, care about the next generation of theatre makers, and who believe in the transformative effect of the arts.

We are looking to recruit three new trustees to join our Board, particularly seeking to enlist Trustees with the following specific skills and experience:

• Finance: proven experience in financial management and accounting. The chosen individual would be expected to join, and after a short introductory phase, to chair the Board's Finance, HR and Risk sub-committee. Knowledge of charity finance, accounting and regulation would be an advantage
• Education and Arts Policy: familiarity with current arts education policy and/or development of drama teaching in formal education, including in secondary and/or FE and/or HE settings.
• Digital and Marketing: experience in digital production and/or distribution or online/social media marketing.

Please note: we are looking to recruit three trustees, and so we are not expecting candidates to be able to tick all of the above boxes.

We have an opportunity for an individual, ideally, with governance experience who has an interest in safeguarding or would like to learn about and oversee safeguarding.  The role is voluntary and unpaid. We are seeking to appoint a Trustee who has a desire to join our committed and supportive Trust Board to make a real contribution to the shaping and future of Chesham Grammar School.  Our vision and values are firmly located at the centre of everything we do. 

No previous experience in an educational environment is necessary although other previous experience aligned to the requirements of this role will be desirable.

The HMSA is a small and dynamic charity that helps those living with hypermobility syndromes (and carers and families) to be independent and live well. We also provide education for professionals in social care, health, teaching and local authority employees. We have big plans to expand our offer to our members and professionals, as well as raise the profile of the charity and hypermobility syndromes.  We are seeking to appoint up to 2 new trustees.  Recognising that most people with these conditions present and are supported in primary care, we are particularly keen to recruit someone with a background in Primary Care to help us develop our plans. We are also interested to hear from anyone with experience of strengthening social media channels and comms, especially within a small charity setting.

 The Trustee role involves:

•  Preparing for and attending quarterly board meetings – 2 hours in the evening or a half day on a Saturday (half online/half in person if possible). The in person meetings are likely to be in central London.
• Providing support/guidance to the other Trustees, the CEO as well as staff/volunteer team. This may include small group working in between Board meetings.
• You may also be asked to participate in sub-committees as required.
• Developing and supporting our Clinical Advisory Group and/or Comms work
• Promoting the HMSA to primary care and other health and social care professionals or other relevant external audiences.

The Art Ministry are looking for people to join our Board of Trustees

What we do

We are a well established and respected creative charity who believes that anyone can enjoy good mental health and wellbeing by engaging in creative activities.

We provide regular art and craft sessions for children and adults with a wide variety of needs.

We extend our reach by providing sessions for partners, including local schools, Southend in Sight, Sanctuary Housing and South Essex Homes.

We engage with the wider community by providing art and craft activities at local events, by offering volunteering and employment opportunities, and holding exhibitions.

Who we need

We need people with experience of finance, HR, fundraising, event management, digital engagement, PR, partnerships, and/or delivering creative services.

We need creative thinkers who can work collaboratively to provide the leadership that The Art Ministry needs to achieve its strategic objective of helping even more members of the local community improve their mental health and wellbeing by engaging in creative activities.

You will need to commit to at least 4 hours a month, including at least 4 trustee meetings a year.

Becoming a trustee for Home-Start Southwark (HSS) is an exciting and fulfilling role. About the Alec Dickson Trust

Alec Dickson together with his wife Moira, founded Voluntary Service overseas (VSO) and later Community Service Volunteer (CSV) as they passionately believed that anyone – whatever their background – could make a positive contribution to the world around them. Alec pioneered the involvement of young volunteers with backgrounds in offending, drug misuse and homelessness, built up a programme of community service work in schools, and campaigned vigorously for a nationwide community service. It was with this spirit of adventure and belief in young people that the Alec Dickson Trust was established after Alec’s death in 1994. Since then, the Trust has continued his legacy by awarding grants to young people with innovative community projects promoting volunteering up to the value of £500. 

Joining the Alec Dickson Trust

We are looking to recruit 2-4 trustees with a diverse set of skills and experiences. 

We welcome applications from disadvantaged/underrepresented groups and backgrounds outside of the charity sector. We are particularly interested to hear from first-time trustees and applicants with skills in fundraising and communications. 

There will be some flexibility in the exact nature of each trustee role, but we currently expect vacancies in the following areas: Fundraising and Communications – please let us know in your application if you want to apply for a specific role.

The Fundraising role will include developing and implementing the fundraising strategy, focusing on engaging and securing donations from public and private charitable bodies. The communications role will include developing and agreeing a social media strategy, creating content to promote the trust and extend our outreach and modernising our website.

Person Specification

Essential:

• A clear passion for volunteering to help make a difference to young people and communities across the UK.

• A willingness to review and challenge funding applications to ensure money is spent effectively.

• Preparedness to contribute to discussions and make difficult decisions

• A willingness to participate in committees in order to continually improve the Trust and grant-management process.

• Applicants can be from any background, with any qualifications or work experience, though we particularly welcome applications from individuals who have not previously been trustees.

Desirable:

• Experience in fundraising and/ or communications.

• Effective communication and team working skills.

• Problem solving and adaptability.

Commitment

• Trustees attend approximately eight board meetings per year, typically held via Google meet.

• They are also expected to contribute two hours per week to support the Trust’s work.

• Trustees are expected to make a minimum commitment of 2 years in post.

Leicester Print Workshop, an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation, offers high quality printmaking facilities and development opportunities for artists in the East Midlands and beyond. Debt Justice is looking for new Trustees to join our board and help strengthen our work to challenge poverty and inequality caused by unjust debt. In solidarity with global allies, we actively challenge the way that debt is used to sustain colonialism and exploitation in the global economy.  At the same time, we use a community organising approach to build the collective power of people with lived experience of debt in local communities across the UK. Our local groups bring people on the frontlines of economic injustice together to lead campaigns and win systemic change to tackle the household debt crisis.

Trustees can be based anywhere with a requirement to travel to London for one board meeting a year, the other two main board meetings are hybrid and online.

As a Trustee you will play a key role in helping us fulfil our mission. This includes: 

• Opportunities to make strategic decisions and develop new skills
• The chance to support an economic justice organisation campaigning in solidarity with people affected by debt in local communities and in the global south
• Induction and training to help you in your role as Trustee, including a nominated trustee-buddy to provide peer-support.

The Gender and Development Network (GADN) brings together expert NGOs, as well as consultants, academics and individuals committed to working on women’s and girls’ rights, gender equality, racial justice and international development. Our goal is to ensure that international development policy and practice promotes gender equality and women's and girls’ rights. Our role is to support our members by sharing information and expertise, to undertake and disseminate research, and to provide expert advice and comment on UK government policies and projects.

Your Role as a Trustee

As a Trustee, you will:

• Attend bi-monthly Board and sub-committee meetings.
• Act as an ambassador for YBF, helping to raise our profile and support fundraising initiatives.
• Provide guidance and advice in your area of expertise.

This is a voluntary role requiring a time commitment of up to 8 hours per month, including attendance at six Board meetings per year, typically held in the evening. Trustees serve a three-year term, renewable for a maximum of six years.

Our trustees attend five board level meetings on-site each year (four during the evening and a strategy day) and five or six evening committee meetings, held virtually. They undertake an induction and a training programme and, if they have a link role, they come into school about three times each year. They must take on a fair share of panel work, although there has been no need for these for some time. We do expect our trustees to engage with us on-site beyond these formal arrangements, for example, by attending a reasonable number of school events.We can accommodate people who have different expertise but, on this occasion, our team would benefit from knowledge of finance, risk, estates and the secondary curriculum, student progress and attainment.

The board of trustees are jointly and severally responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the Farm, it’s financial health, probity of its activities, developing the organisation’s aims, objectives and goals in accordance with the governing document and legal and regulatory guidelines.
All trustees should be aware of, and understand, their individual and collective responsibilities, and should not be overly reliant on one or more individual trustees in any particular aspect of the governance of the charity. For example, all trustees should be able to read the financial accounts.

THE ROLE

Main Responsibilities

· To ensure that the charity, and its representatives, function within all legal and regulatory requirements applicable, and in line with the organisation’s governing document, continually striving for best practice in governance.

· To maintain the fiduciary duty invested in the position, undertaking such duties in a way that adds to public confidence and trust in the charity.

· To take appropriate professional advice in all matters where there may be a material risk to the charity, or where the trustees may be in breach of their duties.

· To determine the overall direction and development of the charity through good governance and clear strategic planning.

· To avoid any personal conflict of interest.

· To manage and use the resources of the charity so as to optimise its potential.

· To ensure that robust systems are in place for internal financial control and the protection of the charity’s funds and assets.

· To undergo a thorough induction upon appointment and ongoing training to remain alert to, and aware of, their duties and responsibilities, and of the environment in which they operate.

· To achieve the purpose of the charity and to pursue the charitable objects, and provide public benefit.

Main Duties

• Ensuring the charity complies with legislative and regulatory requirements, and acts within the confines of its governing document and in furtherance to the charitable objects.
• Acting in the best interest of the charity, beneficiaries and future beneficiaries at all times.
• Promoting and developing the charity in order for it to grow and maintain its public benefit and recognising the situation when it may be more appropriate to wind the charity up where there is no longer a need for the charity to provide the services it does or because the charitable objects are no longer relevant to contemporary social situations.
• Maintaining sound financial management and control of the charity’s resources.
• Ensuring a fully effective and appropriate system for the recruitment, appointment and monitoring of the work and activities of the General Manager and, where applicable, other members of the senior management team.
• Ensuring the effective and efficient administration of the charity and its resources, striving for best practice in good governance.
• Acting as a counter-signatory on charity cheques (including any electronic transactions) and any applications for funds.
• To maintain absolute confidentiality about all aspects of the trustees’ business, bearing in mind the over-riding legal obligations placed upon trustees.

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION

• An understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship.
• Good independent judgment
• Strong communication
• Friendly and approachable
• Knowledge of and interest in animals and community farms is desirable.  
• Candidates who are local are desirable, but it is essential that you are able to travel to the farm for meetings, events and the odd day of volunteering.

Deen City Farm and Riding School is an urban farm with an educational focus in the heart of the London Borough of Merton. With over 60,000 visitors a year, our five-acre site includes a farmyard, gardens, riding school, shop, café and small playground. As well as welcoming visitors who want to meet the animals and enjoy the setting, we also work with local schools and community groups to fulfil our charitable aim of improving the lives of everyone in the community. Volunteering is at the heart of the project and we also provide a work experience programme.

At My Sisters’ House Women’s Centre (MSH), we create real, lasting change for the women and communities we serve every day.

Becoming a trustee is a rewarding but important commitment. The MSH Board meets quarterly in the evening, with meetings lasting up to two hours. Trustees are expected to review Board papers in advance and come prepared for discussion and decision-making. In addition, each trustee is asked to join one of our MSH Committees, which meet every six weeks, usually during the day, for a maximum of two hours.
