About us
Who we are
Our Forest Gate home, with many students for whom English is not their first language and where more than 40% of them are entitled to free school meals. Our students have great experiences at school and achieve excellent outcomes. Our Progress 8 score is well above the national average, attainment and attendance is better than the local and the national averages and the achievement of our disadvantaged students is in the top 3% of schools nationally. Unsurprisingly, we have seen the largest increase in applications for secondary places in Newham over the past five years. Whilst the students are always our priority, staff come a close second and, as a result, staff wellbeing and thus retention are high. We have a range of engaged and experienced trustees making an important contribution to the continued progress and development of the school.
Our culture and values
Rooted in the local community in the borough of Newham, we aim to provide an inspirational learning journey for every student. It is our firm belief that all of our students have the potential to achieve, regardless of their starting points or individual circumstances. Our school culture, built upon high expectations for all, ensures that our students flourish. This not only means students achieving strong examination results but also developing their wider skills and talents, character, sense of belonging and civic duty.
Our core values of respect, excellence and responsibility underpin everything we do, and apply to everyone in the school community, children and adults alike. Our teachers and support staff are well-qualified and committed professionals, who work tirelessly to provide great experiences and outcomes for all our students. As a result, students regularly achieve results which place us in the top cohort of schools nationally. We have also achieved nationally recognised awards for aspects of our work including attendance, professional development and wellbeing, whilst our students have won prestigious honours such as the DebateMate trophy. Unsurprisingly, we are one of the most popular schools in Newham.
Relationships between staff and students are built upon respect and understanding; behaviour is very good. We aim for our students to leave Stratford School Academy as knowledgeable, resilient, confident, articulate and well-rounded individuals, with a strong moral compass and in control of their destinies, thus empowered to make a positive contribution in a changing world.
