About Pain Concern
Pain Concern is a charity providing information and support to people with pain and those who care for them, whether family, friends or healthcare professionals. All pain is unpleasant, but for the 7.8 million people in the UK living with long-term pain it is a part of everyday life. Although there is usually no cure, people who receive the appropriate treatment, information and support can manage their condition effectively with life-changing results
Role Purpose
Pain Concern is looking for volunteers to help moderate the charity’s online community on the Health Unlocked platform. Our forum provides peer support and a learning environment for people living with chronic pain and those who care for them. Forum moderators follow Health Unlocked guidance, creating a great culture and setting the tone for the forum.
As a volunteer moderator you will help to ensure that our online community is maintained as a safe, supportive and fun environment. You will gather information on what issues are important to forum users. You will help to monitor and moderate user-generated content. By joining us you will join a fast-growing and respected service.
Previous experience or training is not necessary. We are looking for a willingness to learn and a commitment to help. Knowledge of chronic pain while useful, is not essential. Due to the nature of the role, successful applicants will be required to undertake a PVG check and complete a 1hr Safeguarding online course.

We are recruiting volunteers to support our Refuge Referral Line team, which supports women and children experiencing domestic abuse to find a safe, secure, and suitable refuge space across London.
You will join a team of trained staff and volunteers to support women to make a referral, and ensure they have the knowledge and are informed of the best options to reach safety. You will be supporting women and children to rebuild their lives free from fear!
What you will be doing
- Taking calls to assess the risks and needs of the women fleeing from domestic abuse whilst under supervision/guidance of the Referral Line Worker and the Service Manager
- To use a range of skills and tools to make phone conversations with women effective and empowering
- To provide women with knowledge of how to access refuge space and other types of support with the aid of a trained staff team
- General admin support: typing, taking notes, filing, scanning documents, keeping accurate records on our digitalised client management syste
- To develop positive relationships with staff members and women whilst promoting self-care

We are currently looking to offer volunteering placements with our Mental Health Recovery Pathway (MHRP) – a mental health provision based across three sites in Islington responding to the mental health needs of Islington residents.
You will be assisting service users who experience mental distress in group settings.
We ask for a commitment of at least 1 day a week 10:15am – 4:00pm for a full year (+ about 2-3 months for DBS check and induction), though there are plenty of opportunities to volunteer more than one day a week.

The Role

Key Responsibilities
- Leading the Board’s duty to ensure proper accounting records are kept, financial resources are controlled, annual accounts are filed in a timely manner and that TASO is meeting its regulatory requirements as a charity.
- Reviewing TASO’s financial performance and overseeing planning/budgeting processes with participation of the Board and constructively challenge where required.
- Advising on the financial implications of the charity’s strategic plans, maintaining the charity’s risk register, and overseeing the charity’s financial risk-management process.
- Provide guidance and oversight in the development and approval of key financial policies, including reserves, cost management, and financial controls. Ensure these policies align with best practices and the organisation's strategic goals.
- To contribute to the effective leadership and governance of the organisation.
- Liaising regularly with CEO and COO making sure the Board is aware of any key financial and risk issues.
Essential criteria
- Committed to be part of the Board for a minimum of 3 years.
- Established Financial Professional with experience of operating at a senior level.
- Financially literate with the ability to analyse and understand basic financial statements to focus on the correct areas of organisational performance.
- Good understanding of charity governance and how this applies to the role of a Board member.
- Adept with spreadsheets and financial modelling.
- Able to scrutinise operational budgets and ensure that financial assumptions are aligned with organisational and strategic aims.

- Responsible for preparing and distributing the bi-annual Print Newsletter
- Responsible for keeping the Centre’s website update to date
- Coordinate with the Designer volunteers on the design of various posters, brochures, social media posts and newsletter as required
- Create the fortnightly digital newsletter
- Liaise with marketing partners in the communities to promote various events and activities.
What you need to have?
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of IT systems including MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Experience with email marketing software
- Experience of working in a similar role and environment
- Strong organisational skills & ability to multi-task
- Be an enthusiastic, flexible and adaptable team player
- Previous marketing experience will be ideal

Who we are?
London Gypsies and Travellers is an organisation which challenges social exclusion and discrimination, working for change in partnership with Gypsies and Travellers. We work with families across London Boroughs, living on council caravan sites, roadside encampments, those living in bricks and mortar housing, and those experiencing homelessness. Key responsibilities of a trustee will include:
- Setting the overall strategic vision for the charity.
- To ensure the financial stability and effective administration of the organisation
- Share knowledge and skills to help the Trustee Board reach sound decisions.
- To ensure that the organisation pursues its charitable aims and uses its resources appropriately.
- To ensure that the organisation complies with its governing document, charity law, and any other relevant legislation.
- To safeguard the values of LGT.

- Understanding and acceptance of the legal duties and responsibilities of trustees.

New Trustees are fully supported through their induction into the organisation and will be expected to attend the 6 board meetings per year (In- person at our office in Islington). Additional involvement in sub-committees is welcomed. Trustees will be offered reimbursement for any expenses.
In particular, we are interested to hear from anyone with finance skills and previous experience in the role of treasurer.
