And because of the stigma surrounding their conditions, thousands are suffering in silence. But we are here to support and champion a better future. Our vision is for improved lives for people with Crohn’s and Colitis today, and in the long term, a world free from Crohn’s and Colitis altogether.

Our community look to the charity to help them navigate their way through complex health issues and support their needs wherever they live, whatever their background and whoever they are. This is our job - whether it’s lobbying for health leaders, providing vital information, or reducing the stigma around the conditions, we’re here for them
 

TRUSTEE OPPORTUNITY

The charity are looking to appoint three Trustees and have identified the following skill areas of interest;

• HR experience - Ideally leading HR strategy, ensuring legal compliance, delivering L&D strategy, pay & reward frameworks and fostering a positive work culture
• Policy, Influencing & Public Affairs experience - ideally working in policy, influencing and/or public affairs. We would also welcome media partnerships and media campaigns experience
• Fundraising strategy and implementation experience - Ideally at Fundraising Director level or have undertaken this role prior to moving to a broader role. Ideally you will have an understanding of a broad range of income generation with experience of leading supporter engagement strategies and successfully increasing reach

The charity are looking to improve the diversity on their Board, including ethnicity, socio-economic and applicants who have connections to underserved communities. They would also welcome applicants from Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, or the north of England. Most Trustees on the Board already have first-hand lived experience of Crohn’s and Colitis so new applicants for the role will not be required to have this experience.

• Ensuring that the charity complies with its constitution, charity law and any other relevant legislation or regulations, works to fulfil its charitable objects and applies its resources exclusively in pursuance of its objects.
• Contributing actively to the Board of Trustees’ role in giving firm strategic direction to the organisation, setting overall policy, defining goals and evaluating performance.
• Safeguarding the good name and values of the charity.
• Ensuring the effective and efficient management and administration of the charity.
• Ensuring the financial stability of the charity.
• Ensuring the proper investment of the charity’s funds.
• Employing and being responsible for the organisation’s staff
• Using any specific knowledge or experience they have to help the Board of Trustees reach sound decisions.
• Promoting the charity among their own contacts.

• The ability to provide leadership to and motivate staff and volunteers, bringing people together.

About Cards for Bravery

Cards for Bravery is a small registered charity dedicated to brightening the days of hospitalised and seriously ill children. We do this through services such as the distribution of positive handmade cards, bravery packages, activity packs, and more. Our mission is to provide moments of joy and comfort to children and families facing challenging circumstances and to help improve their mental wellbeing.

We are looking to grow and diversify our trustee board to ensure we have the skills, perspectives, and experiences needed to drive our charity forward.

What Does Being a Trustee Mean?

As a trustee, you will play a vital role in overseeing the governance and strategic direction of Cards for Bravery. You will help ensure the charity fulfils its mission, operates responsibly, and delivers real impact for the children and families we support. Board members have a collective responsibility. This means that trustees always act as a group and not as individuals. If you have not been a trustee before, you can also read The Charity Commission publication ‘The Essential Trustee’ which sets out the legal duties you have as a trustee.

What We Are Looking For:

We are seeking passionate and dedicated individuals to join our board of trustees. We are open to applications from all personal and professional backgrounds. You do not need previous governance experience. Any necessary training will be provided.

We are particularly keen to hear from individuals with experience or knowledge in one or more of the following areas:

• Fundraising and/or sales

• Finance management

• Business management and strategy

• Working with children in healthcare settings

Duties and Responsibilities

As a trustee, you will have duties and responsibilities such as:

• Ensure the charity operates legally, ethically, and in line with its objectives. 

• Helping shape and oversee the charity’s strategic direction.

• Help review and approve the organisations financial statements, annual reports, policies and procedures and other relevant paperwork

• Attend regular board meetings (approximately 5-6 a year) and participate in decision-making.

• Act as an ambassador for Cards for Bravery and its mission.

As a small, volunteer-run charity, our trustees also play an active role in shaping and guiding the charity's activities and decisions by offering practical advice, supporting key projects, and ensuring smooth operations, where needed and possible.

Person Specification

We are looking for individuals who:

• Are passionate about the mission and values of Cards for Bravery.

• Can dedicate time and effort to the role, including attending bi-monthly meetings and contributing to initiatives.

• Work collaboratively with other trustees and volunteers

• Have ability to think creatively and strategically exercising good, independent judgement 

• Have strong communication skills and a willingness to engage constructively

Commitment

• Trustees are appointed for a 3-year term, with the possibility of renewal upon board approval.

• The board meets approximately 5-6 times a year, and trustees are required to attend at least 75% of these meetings annually. Additional time may be required for specific projects or initiatives. Meetings usually take place on weekdays in the evening.

Help us engage our charity's audience by creating compelling emails and newsletter content so that we can support more people affected by a complex, debilitating chronic condition as well as raise awareness of this rare disease. This is a great opportunity to assist a small but mighty charity.

Description

We are urgently looking for 2 experienced email marketing volunteers to join our communications team. Our charity delivers awareness campaigns by email and a range of support services to patients, relatives, partners and carers who have been affected by a debilitating chronic condition; Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS).

You will be a big link to our charity's clients who are vulnerable and isolated, to them learning more about events, our latest articles, fundraising events as well as ensuring they are aware of the services that we offer that be of help to them. You will also be helping us to raise awareness of this devastating chronic condition.

We regularly contact our supporters and members through general emails and infirmative newsletters will show consistency and know they can rely on us to be there for them.

We would like the volunteer to help with:

• Email content Creation: Develop an email marketing content calendar, write compelling regular email content, including calls for donations & support, that is relevant and has clear a call-to-action and high click through rates;
• Email content creation (membership): Create a regular quarterly newsletters for our membership scheme
• Create a number of automated email series - for donors, members, fundraisers and more
• Newsletter strategy: Help us plan and articulate how we can use emails and newsletters to strengthen our organisation, motivate our supporters and communicate with our sponsors;
• Design and implement campaigns and promotional activity

What are you looking for in a volunteer?

We are looking for 2 volunteers who have:

• Strong writing and editing skills
• Good communicator
• Good computer skills and a willingness to be contacted via email and/or video chat
• Experience using email marketing software - specifically Mailchimp
• Marketing skills
• Experience of working on marketing strategies
• Ability to quickly understand the needs of our team, organisation and our services users (we are not expecting you to know about the condition we support)

What impact will the opportunity have?

We are seeking to appoint a voluntary Trustee for our charity who will also take up the role of Company Secretary.

Maidstone Homeless Care is a well-established charity supporting homeless and vulnerable people in the Maidstone area . We run an active day centre, busy food bank and a small residential unit supporting homeless people. 

The role of the Secretary will support a small group of voluntary Trustees and will require effective administrative and communication skills. We have one formal evening meeting each month . The role of trustee is a voluntary role and consistent support is available from the trustee group as well as appropriate training.

Role title: 

Volunteer Classroom Assistant (Online) – English, Maths, Science  

Where: 

Online (Zoom) / Nova New Opportunities, 2 Thorpe Close, W10 5XL

When: 

Immediately, minimum commitment of 3 months. 

Support 1-2 classes a week (45 minutes per class). 

English classes are currently held on Mondays and Wednesday between 16:30 and 19:15. 

Maths and Science classes are currently held on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 16:15 and 19:45.

Purpose of role: 

Support the Nova Family Programme tutors in facilitating online home school sessions.

Role Description: 

This role will be to act as a teaching assistant to tutors delivering online English, maths and science classes (for young people at Key Stage 2 and 3). With the disruption of Covid-19, many families have been thrown into the unknown world of home schooling – made even more challenging when your own education isn’t up to scratch or English is your second language. We are delivering a free programme of online home school support to those who have been most negatively impacted by being out of school. Now that Schools have reopened, we will be continuing these sessions to ensure that learners do not fall behind as Schools focus on catching up on lost learning. The aim is to support children who may be falling behind with their studies and mitigating as far as possible the widening attainment gap. 

You will: 

• Enjoy working in a team 

• Provide tutorial support 

• Position yourself as a resource for learners 

• Work one-on-one or with breakout groups of learners who need additional help 

• Facilitate the zoom classroom as required

 The Fundraising Coordinator will plan and oversee fundraising initiatives to generate financial support for Light Up Children’s projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute creative fundraising campaigns.

• Organise community events, online fundraising drives, and corporate partnerships.

• Engage with donors and supporters to encourage long-term giving.

• Track fundraising progress and ensure compliance with charity regulations.

• Work closely with the Grants Officer and Communications team to maximise fundraising efforts.

Ideal Candidate:

• Experience in event planning, corporate sponsorships, or online fundraising (preferred but not required).

About Waterwatch UK

Waterwatch UK is currently transitioning to become a charity, strengthening its mission to hold polluters accountable and empower communities to protect and improve water quality. We work to ensure transparency, drive policy change, and support public engagement in safeguarding our waterways.

Role Purpose

As a trustee, you will provide strategic oversight, ensure good governance, and help Waterwatch UK achieve its mission. Trustees collectively guide the organisation’s direction, legal compliance, financial health, and public impact.

4. Fundraising & Grants Trustee

• Develops and oversees fundraising strategies, including grant applications and donor engagement.
• Identifies new funding opportunities and partnerships.
• Advises on diversifying income sources.

5. Marketing & Communications Trustee

• Leads public engagement strategies, including branding, digital media, and PR.
• Supports outreach efforts to raise awareness and grow Waterwatch’s supporter base.
• Advises on website, social media, and campaign strategies.

6. Legal & Compliance Trustee

• Ensures Waterwatch UK operates within charity law and regulatory requirements.
• Provides legal guidance on governance, contracts, and policies.
• Advises on risk management.

7. Community Engagement & Partnerships Trustee

• Strengthens relationships with local communities, ensuring Waterwatch UK remains community-led.

You will be responsible for developing impactful campaigns, engaging supporters, and ensuring our messaging is visually compelling. Key Responsibilities

• Campaign Strategy & Execution – Develop and manage campaigns on key issues climate action, and wildlife protection.
• Content Creation – Design eye-catching campaign materials (social media graphics, infographics, posters, etc.) using Canva.
• Social Media & Digital Outreach – Plan and schedule campaign posts, working with our digital team to maximise reach and engagement.
• Community Engagement – Mobilise supporters, activists, and partner organisations to take action.
