Role Requirements

As an Audio Editor, you will:

Edit and enhance raw audio recordings for clarity and quality.

Mix and master audio tracks to produce professional results.

Remove background noise, balance audio levels, and add sound effects as needed.

Collaborate with the podcast team to align audio with the intended narrative.

Ensure timely delivery of polished audio for podcast episodes and other projects.

Skills We Value

Proficiency in audio editing software (e.g., Audacity, Adobe Audition, Pro Tools).

Attention to detail and strong listening skills.

Experience with sound design or music editing is a plus.

Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.

Many of our service users don’t use English as their first language and rely on high quality translation to understand information. Therefore, we are looking for volunteers who can accurately translate English text into any of the languages below:

Bengali, Arabic, Amharic, Albanian, Vietnamese, Tigrinya, Punjabi and Urdu. - But if you do speak and write in another language do get in touch. 

Volunteers need to:

•Be at least 18 years old

•Hold a translating or interpreting qualification or to hold a degree (in any subject) and be fluent in speaking and writing in English, and one or more of the languages above

•Have excellent command of English and other language(s)

•Have grammatical accuracy

•Have excellent proof-reading skills including IT skills

•Have use of own computer

•Be willing to have a basic DBS check

•Have the willingness to learn about human trafficking issues

•Have the ability to maintain confidentiality

Volunteer role: Deputy Chair of the Stationing Committee

The Stationing Committee has oversight of the processes relating to the stationing of ministers within the Methodist Church. The Committee is seeking to nominate to the Methodist Conference, a Deputy Chair. This is open to all lay members of the Methodist Church. If you are skilled at chairing meetings, able to represent the Stationing Committee on a number of bodies, committed to helping the Church station its ministers through wise, fair and transparent processes – then please do offer for this role.

This appointment is subject to a change in Standing Orders regarding the membership of the Stationing Committee, which will be presented to the Methodist Conference in June 2025. The role would begin after the Conference but it is hoped the person would attend meetings of the Stationing Committee in the meantime as an observer.

Methodist Modern Art Collection Management Committee – curatorial/registrarial volunteer vacancies

Experienced and creative art curators or registrars are invited to express interest in volunteering as members of the Management Committee for the  Methodist Church’s Modern Art Collection. We are seeking expertise to help us to care for and exhibit these works, to advise Borrowers and support exhibitions ‘on the ground’, while always ensuring the Collection is being used as an effective tool for mission.

This unique and world class, touring collection comprises of more than 55 artworks by renowned artists such as Sutherland, Frink and Hambling. Works from the Collection are loaned for exhibition several times each year, usually to churches rather than professional galleries, as well as being shown annually in the highly interactive setting of the Church’s assembly for children and young people.

We are seeking one or more committed volunteers to join the Methodist Modern Art Collection Management Committee and or be co-opted to one of its working groups. The Committee normally meets three times a year online, plus an in-person ‘away day’, with electronic communication and online working groups convened in between. We pay all reasonable expenses for volunteers to attend in-person committee meetings, and to visit potential exhibition venues, meet exhibition organisers in person, or to support the installation/de-install of exhibitions.

BuDS’ visionary aim is to abolish disability by building a world which is Fair4All, free of the barriers which disable people.We are on an exciting journey to become a national charity, expanding our reach and impact across England. By 2025-26, this transformation will be complete, marked by a name change to ‘BuDS Disability Service’ and a shift to Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) status.

The role of Co-Secretary will be pivotal for the charity as it moves forward. We have decided to recruit Co-Secretaries because we recognise that the role will be easier to manage if divided between two individuals. The Co-Secretaries will be Trustees of BuDS and will need to embody our values and ethos. 

What Does the Role Entail?

The role of Co-Secretary is expected to involve a time commitment of around 2.5-3 hours per week, a combined total of 5-6 hours between the two post-holders. BuDS works remotely and flexibly using Microsoft Teams, so much of the work can be done at your own pace at times which suit you best. Meetings are kept to a minimum as all the Trustees are busy people.

Working closely with the Co-Chairs and Co-Treasurers, and split between the two CoSecretaries, the four key responsibilities will be:

1.The running of the Trustee Board & its meetings

2.Arranging the Annual General Meeting and curating the Annual Report

3.Liaison with the Charity Commission

4.Supporting the move to a Charitable Incorporated Organisation

What Experience & Skills Are Needed?

These are the skills and experience we think are needed for this role, divided between the two Co-Secretaries. We are keen to develop people’s knowledge and skills through training and mentoring.

Essential:

Experience and knowledge of supporting meetings and decision-making

Can use Microsoft Office 365 applications for remote working

A flexible, positive, problem-solving and organised approach to tasks

Commitment to the social model of disability

Lived experience as a disabled person Lives in England

Desirable:

Understanding of charity governance and the role of charity secretary.

Description

RNIB's Sight Loss Counselling Team is an established team of telephone counsellors. Accredited by the BACP, we offer free and confidential counselling and emotional support to people affected by sight loss. Volunteers will either be qualified counsellors/psychotherapists; having completed a BACP accredited training or equivalent OR be students in the final stages of counselling or psychotherapy.

As well as an interest in all thing tech, are you happy to listen to others talking about it? We are keen to hear from you if you’d like to facilitate our Technology Group and enable blind and partially sighted people to discuss their interest and experience of technology.

You will contribute to the group to ensure that all participants feel comfortable and that the group runs smoothly

This group will run monthly by telephone or video call.

Our Talk and Support team is setting up a knitting group for people who love the craft and want to share their experience, skills and passion for creating. Are you interested in facilitating this group? Then please get in touch - it would be great to hear from you.

You will contribute to the group to ensure that all participants feel comfortable and that the group runs smoothly.

This group will run monthly using the phone or video call

Are you happy to listen to others talking about their experience of building or carpentry? We are looking for someone like you to facilitate our monthly special interest group for blind and partially sighted people who are interested in these topics and who would like to share their experience with others.

You will contribute to the group to ensure that all participants feel comfortable and that the group runs smoothly.
This group will run monthly either over the telephone or as a video call.

Shannon Trust fulfils an unmet need around adult learning, supporting people who’ve fallen through the cracks in formal education.

We know a lot of people have had negative learning experiences in the past, so our programme is designed to be different, with no exams and no classrooms. Our unique, evidence-based Turning Pages reading manuals and Count Me In numeracy manuals are used by thousands of learners in prisons and the community to improve reading and numeracy skills. 

Prison volunteers live near to their local prison so that they can visit about once a month during the working week to nurture the growth of the Shannon Trust in their prison. They help unlock the power of reading by offering advice, guidance, training and support to prison staff and prisoner mentors who help other prisoners to improve their skills 1 to 1.

We are looking for volunteers who are able to give a regular, reliable commitment for ideally two years and able to deliver engaging training to groups of people in prisons. Volunteers do not need to be teachers or qualified traininers, full training will be given. Due to the nature of the role, prison security vetting will be required.

We provide training for the role via e-learning and 4 training sessions which are a mix of live, online and group training.
