We are recruiting a General Advice Officer to support with the delivery of advice and welfare support to vulnerable guests who access the Community Wellbeing Service, a local support hub offering relief from the rising cost of living for local families. The General Advice Officer will support our guests on a range of areas including benefits, immigration, housing, money management and access to training and employment services. The postholder will provide high quality welfare advice and guidance through weekly one-to-one advice sessions, undertake case work, work with partners to facilitate referrals, and provide support to advice volunteers.
The successful candidate must have at least two years’ experience delivering effective advice or in a similar capacity, demonstrate empathy, an understanding of the issues facing vulnerable people, and have in-depth and up-to-date knowledge of welfare benefits and housing policies/legislations, with a strong focus on achieving tangible outcomes for our guests.
Advice Work
- Carry out assessments to identify urgent needs and appropriate support pathways for members at the Community Wellbeing Service.
- Support outreach or community engagement activities as needed.
- Provide holistic and person-centred advice and casework on the main enquiry areas, particularly welfare benefits, housing, employment, health and wellbeing, immigration and money management.
- Maintain Sufra’s Advice Quality Standards and meeting tangible outcomes.
- Produce detailed case records on our case management system for the purpose of continuity, statistical monitoring and report preparation
- Apply for funds from trusts and foundations to support individuals and families with essential costs such as housing deposits or white-goods and/or cancellation of debts;
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with external stakeholders for joined up working, including statutory and voluntary service providers, making referrals for guests where appropriate.
- Enable and support guests to act for themselves, wherever appropriate.
- Monitor the progression of all cases to the point of resolution.
- Conduct follow-up calls with guests where needed and track outcomes
- Support volunteers who are working on delivering Advice Services e.g triage volunteers and pathways volunteers
- Provide advice to the General Advice Service as and when required
Case Management
- Manage own caseload and work independently to support guests
- Use of Case Management System (AdvicePro) as well as Microsoft Office for communication and document production.
- Support with developing case studies and gathering guest feedback
- Collect statistical information as requested for reporting purposes.
- Feed into the development of monitoring reports for funders and other stakeholders
Other Responsibilities
- Maintain and update the charity’s record of referral and signposting agencies;
- Ensure data protection regulations are adhered to, and that sensitive data is handled in accordance with relevant legislation and organisational procedures.
- Keep informed of new and changing legislation relevant to the post, and of local issues and policies
- Be committed to the aims, procedures and policies of Sufra’s advice service in every aspect of service delivery.
- Take part in supervisions, personal development training, team meetings and appraisals
- Undertake any other reasonable duties to support the operations of the charity.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for:
The Lead Coach is primarily responsible for overseeing the training room and group sessions with young people. You will help shape the training environment and will confidently adapt and deliver materials and sessions to work within the group’s development towards work readiness.
Delivery of Spear Programme - Group and 1:1 coaching [60%]
- Preparing and coaching Spear Foundation sessions and 1-1s, ensuring that young people are engaged, retained and work-ready by the end of this initial phase of the programme
- Building relationships with young people on the programme and managing culture, and attitudes in the training room
- Adapting the Spear coaching material according to the needs of the Trainees and managing behaviour effectively; handling safeguarding
- Taking a lead on rating the work readiness of the trainees and making sure data is inputted and used correctly on salesforce
- Liaising with volunteers for key programme engagement events such as mock interviews and external panels. Leading on briefings and communications with these volunteers
Delivery of Spear Career [20%]
- Delivering weekly Spear Career sessions (including running workshops with past Trainees), maintaining records and reporting on statistics, and creatively developing ongoing relationships with Spear Trainees
Training the Graduate Coach [10%]
- Contributing towards the training and developing of the Graduate Coach by modelling excellent coaching and giving regular feedback
Trainee recruitment [10%]
- Developing relationships with Job Centres and local referral agencies to ensure that the maximum number of Spear Trainees are enrolled on each programme. This involves liaising with referral agencies, active face-to-face recruitment and monitoring recruitment statistics
Continuous professional development
- Continually engaging in professional development, including being part of Resurgo’s wider coaching programmes and possibly supporting on leading internal training such as Grad Coach Training
Active participation in and support for church team and mission
- As the Spear programme is run in partnership with a local church partner, you will establish a strong personal connection with the church to develop the engagement and backing of church members and help build a strong network of supporters for the Spear programme. As part of this you may be asked to speak at church/events and contribute to prayer meetings as per Resurgo’s Christian ethos and the mission of the church

The Role

Myeloma Patients Europe (MPE) is offering an exciting position as Communications Manager (Digital and Social Media) in a dynamic European non-profit patient advocacy organisation. This role will help deliver the MPE communications strategy, providing both strategic and operational support across the organisation, and ensuring that MPE is increasing our reach and impact to improve the lives and experiences of myeloma patients.
As Communications Manager (Digital and Social Media), you will work with the Head of Communications and other key staff across to the organisation to:
- Implement MPE communications strategy, monitor and improve MPE reach, and increase impact with key stakeholders
- Develop and disseminate strong and relevant messaging for key stakeholders
- Monitor and evaluate our performance and reach across digital and social communications channels

As Philanthropy Manager, you will be a vital part of the relationship management team, stewarding a mixed portfolio of donors, including individuals and trusts/foundations. You will cultivate and manage relationships with supporters typically giving five-figure gifts, with opportunities to secure six-figure donations. Through engaging conversations, impactful written proposals, and in-person meetings, you will inspire donors to invest in our mission and make a lasting difference for pets in need.
This role is available on a full-time, 12-month fixed term basis. We are also happy to consider candidates who may be looking for part time/4 days instead of 5 and flexible working.

Key responsibilities:

Manage a mixed portfolio of donors and prospects

Design and deliver innovative and engaging stewardship plans for prospects

Manage donor-led cultivation opportunities/events (e.g. private tours and dinners)

Work with existing advocates to identify opportunities within their networks to introduce new prospects to the work of Blue Cross

Build and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders who can add value to the cultivation process

Create engaging and impressive donor communications including funding proposals and impact reports

Adhere to a suite of clear work processes demonstrating compliance with our privacy policy, GDPR, data protection legislation and fundraising best practice

Deliver a comprehensive set of KPIs including meeting an individual income target

Maintain accurate and up to date donor records and updates using our CRM

About you
You will have exceptional interpersonal skills and quickly understand donor motivations, delivering tailored and impactful stewardship. A natural communicator, you can adapt your approach to connect with any audience, whether through compelling written proposals or face-to-face meetings.
Creative and strategic, you know how to craft inspiring fundraising materials for different audiences and settings. You’re proactive in moving prospects through the pipeline, building strong relationships, and confidently making the ask.
With a results-driven mindset, you foster productive stakeholder relationships that drive philanthropy forward. You work with professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion, and you take pride in being part of a dedicated and supportive team.
Knowledge, skills, and experience

Proven experience of mid to high-value fundraising with a track record of initiating new relationships, making the ask and developing long-term donor relationships

Experience of crafting compelling funding proposals and applications

Experience of designing stewardship journeys for mid to high value supporters resulting in increased affinity to the organisation and donation uplift

Experience of sharing philanthropic opportunities with high-net-individuals in a professional and engaging manner, with a flair for adapting to their individual aspirations

Experience of successful developing senior stakeholder relationships (both internally and externally)

Experience of successfully delivering an income target

An ability to think laterally and proactively to problem solve

Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure, excellent attention to detail, prioritise work and meet deadlines

Experience of successfully conveying a fundraising need to donors in an engaging way both in person and in high quality written stewardship

Excellent interpersonal skills with a high level of professionalism and discretion

Full driving licence in order to travel to donor meetings

The Role
Reporting to the Head Of Community and Engagement, you would manage an officer to lead the portfolio of events and community income stream to raise c300k+ a year.
You would manage a remote officer with excellent experience and oversee the delivery and expansion of the current portfolio.
The team are looking for someone creative an innovative as they are keen to identify and develop new opportunities across Community and Events Fundraising.
You would need to have a passion for providing excellent stewardship and want to develop and deliver supporter journeys to maximise participant engagement and fundraising income.
Provide excellent leadership and line management to Events and Community Fundraising Officer.
The Candidate
The team are looking for good experience of events (and ideally community) fundraising, in particular with developing overseas or large-scale mass participant events.
Experience with recruiting new volunteers and fundraisers from a range of channels, including digital platforms.
Experience of designing and delivering high impact stewardship programmes and delivering successful and engaging events.
Ideally line mnaagement experience, or strong mentoring experience.

Recently our members voted to create a new u3a Council to act as a conduit between the national body and the over 1000 independent u3as throughout the UK. The new Council will be the vehicle by which members’ views and priorities will feed into and shape the overall work of the u3a national body.
The Council Officer will support the implementation and running of the new u3a Council and play an integral role in embedding the Council into the existing structures of the Trust. They will work with the CEO and the Council Chair to ensure the Council has the support and resources it requires. The role will bring external ideas into the movement by identifying research, reports and speakers that might help inform its work. The officer will also prepare reports, agendas, minutes and be responsible for the general administration of the council and its working groups.
The role would suit someone with an interest in community engagement and participation or policy and research in these areas. The right candidate will be able to work flexibly across a range of responsibilities and develop and implement ways of working as the Council develops, whilst having the ability to work with and manage a large group of volunteer's wide range of views and opinions.
