We are on a mission to build a new generation of young leaders who are problem solvers through; education, leadership, and mentorship, who will, in turn, transform the phase of the community.

More than 1 million children, adolescents and youth in Kenya are out of school. We want to reverse this to zero. Education is a basic right, every child has the right to access it around the world. But, Some drop out of schools because families can’t afford a dollar to sustain their education. We aim to change this to ensure every local child in deep villages has access to the right education.

Kosi Africa provides solutions to address education, leadership, and environmental challenges faced by young people in Kenya. Through its innovative programs and initiatives, it empowers youth to transform their communities and tackle social and economic inequalities. Here’s how Kosi Africa positions itself as a solution:

Kosi Africa’s approach not only addresses immediate challenges like education costs and environmental degradation but also focuses on building long-term, sustainable solutions. Its vision for 2035 is to develop 10 social impact projects that will create 10,000 social impact leaders, ultimately igniting 1 million candles of change across Africa.

Video Editor And Story Telling

Volunteer Role Description (remote, unpaid)

Key Responsibilities Edit and produce high-quality video content for Kosi Africa’s website, social media platforms, and events.

Transform raw footage into impactful videos that align with our mission and branding guidelines.

Incorporate music, graphics, captions, and effects to enhance storytelling.

Collaborate with the Kosi Africa team to conceptualize video ideas and scripts.

Organize and maintain video files and project archives.

Ensure all videos are optimized for online platforms (e.g., YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn).

Weekly Time Commitment

4-6 hours per week

Do you want to gain professional writing skills and have your named work viewed by thousands? Do you have a passion for great literature or fine art or classical or contemporary music or history or archaeology or something else in the humanities? Do you love to learn about other cultures, their cuisine, customs and language? Do you want to join a vibrant community of writers? Then write for us!

The Cultural Me is a platform for arts and culture with a focus on discovering practical solutions for mental wellbeing, leisure and travel.

We are looking for writers to research and write micro-articles (roughly 750 words), on selected subjects, for example, a piece on Tolstoy, or Early Renaissance to Contemporary Art, or Latin American magic realism to Postcolonial Literature, or Sri Lankan culture, or Beethoven, or Film... You will also be involved in editing contributions from other writers.

If you have never written professionally before, then don't worry: all we ask for is a Bachelor’s Degree in the Arts and Humanities. We are also happy to consider you if you have alternative qualifications — provided you can demonstrate specialist subject matter knowledge in one or more areas in the arts and culture (and you love reading). The articles we produce (unlike popular media) are to the best academic standards. The ideal person, therefore, should enjoy writing articles that are well-researched yet written in an accessible format suitable for the public at large.

The Friends Of Nottinghamshire Archives is looking to recruit a new Chairperson to take over from the current Chair who is retiring in April 2025. Could this be you?

Who We Are:
The Friends of Nottinghamshire Archives (FONA) is a voluntary organisation that supports the work of Nottinghamshire Archives in preserving and making 800+ years of local history publicly accessible. It also arranges a programme of talks and events for its members, publishes its own Magazine three times a year, and has a presence on Social Media. From time to time, it organises special events and in the last four years has published two books. Membership is relatively small but growing steadily (currently about 70 members).

What’s the Role:
As Chairperson you will be supported by an active and enthusiastic Committee and will work with its members, either as a group or individually, to ensure that FONA continues to grow its membership and meet its objectives.

As the work of Nottinghamshire Archives evolves to meet the needs of the 21st century, you will encourage a flexible and open approach to what FONA does, that embraces the needs of both new and traditional interests.

Together with Committee members and other Friends, you will also represent FONA at events and develop working relationships with other local history and heritage groups.

Time Commitment: 

• ​The Committee meetings three times a year, usually at Nottinghamshire Archives plus the Annual General Meeting (end March/early April).
• Five or six talks or events during the year (attend and chair as many of these as possible). 
• A few hours a month as needed to work with committee members and others to manage the Friends activities. 
• Three or four times a year, representing FONA at local heritage events, depending on FONA’s own plans for the year.  

Ideal Skills and Experience: 

• An enthusiastic interest in the history and heritage of Nottinghamshire and Nottingham. 
• Experience of Committee work, ideally in an official role such as Secretary or Treasurer or similar. This does not have to be in an history or heritage organisation, though this would be helpful. 
• Willingness to explore new ways to grow FONA’s membership and support the work of Nottinghamshire Archives as it adopts and adapts to new ways of working.
• Good communicator. 
• Good Leadership Skills.
