The Food Chain exists to ensure people living with HIV in London can access the nutrition they need to get well, stay well and lead healthy, independent lives. We deliver meals, groceries and formula milk, run cookery and nutrition classes, and hold twice-weekly communal meals for some of the most vulnerable and isolated people living with HIV in London.
We are the only HIV Nutrition specialist charity in the UK: we exist at the intersection between HIV, food poverty and social isolation. Everyone accessing our services is referred by a health or social care professional who has identified that they are experiencing crisis. Each person receives a personalised Dietetic Assessment from one of our HIV Specialist Dietitians, designed specifically to meet their needs. By offering a tailored package of support, at the appropriate time, we help people to lead healthy, independent lives.
The Director of Income Generation & Partnerships, along with the Director of Services & Development, lead the organisation's small staff team to deliver vital services to an average of 500 people every year. The Director of Income Generation is a vital link in The Food Chain, ensuring income is secured to enable the delivery and sustainability of all our services and activities, and setting the organisation’s strategic direction for the achievement of our charitable purpose.
Since we were formed on Christmas Day 1988, The Food Chain has delivered food services to people living with HIV every week since. We were founded by volunteers, and are proud that volunteers are still key to the deliver of our charitable services. The Food Chain family is vast - it’s not at all uncommon for us to be out fundraising and someone run up to us with a shout of “Food Chain! I volunteered for you in 1994!”
Position: Director of Income Generation & Partnerships
Responsible to: Board of Trustees
Location: Flexible and remote working is offered to all staff. We have an office in Caledonian Road, London, and we deliver some services in Stepney Green. We envisage this role being hybrid.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (full-time), core hours of 9.00am–5.30pm but flexible working hours will be considered.
Salary: £42,436 per annum

Strategic Management

Contribute to the development of The Food Chain’s strategic and operational plans and ensure income is secured for their effective delivery in line with all relevant legislation, best practice and The Food Chain’s values

Financial management

Lead on the day-to-day management of all financial operations, including forecasting and the annual planning and budgeting process, working closely with the SMT and Trustees

Ensure that The Food Chain makes the most of financial opportunities and works with challenges effectively as they arise in order to meet priorities and fulfil our charitable purpose

Monitor cash flow forecasts and the budget against actuals and bring any major variations in budget expenditure for discussion to SMT and the Operations Working Group in a timely manner

In liaison with our external provider, prepare monthly I & E reports, and quarterly management accounts for the SMT and Board of Trustees

Write, review and update finance policies and procedures as and when required

The Baobab Centre is a non-residential therapeutic community that supports young asylum seekers and refugees who have experienced human rights abuses and have sought asylum in the UK as unaccompanied minors. Our two focus areas are rehabilitation and justice.
This is a unique oppertunity for a passionate and experienced fundraiser to progress further in their career, with the freedom to creatively enhance and develop the fundraising strategy of an impactful community-based charity.
As Senior Fundraising Lead you will be Baobab’s key fundraiser and a self-starter with experience of working in a small or medium sized charity. You will lead on the development of fundraising at Baobab, exploring new avenues for funding, as well as nurturing and growing existing fundraising relationships. You will be responsible for strategising and carrying out a successful program of fundraising from small, medium and large charitable trusts and foundations to an agreed annual fundraising target. You will also assist in delivering Baobab’s individual major donor programme, helping to set up and deliver communications and events related to this income stream. Are you a skilled and knowledgeable fundraiser who can help us secure the funding we need to ensure that children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) receive the education they are legally entitled to?
We’re looking for an experienced and ambitious fundraiser who is keen to develop their skill set across the fundraising mix and looking for an opportunity with strategic input. Tenebrae is one of the world’s leading vocal ensembles, renowned for its core values of passion and precision. Since the choir began in 2001, we have aimed to move and inspire audiences all over the world through dramatic programming and immersive experiences.
The choir performs around 60 concerts each year across the UK, Europe, the US and further afield, including at some of the world’s most prestigious concert venues and festivals. Alongside its busy concert and recording schedule, the ensemble delivers a rapidly growing Learning & Connection programme, working with hundreds of children, young people and amateur singers across schools and other community settings. In the past 5 years Tenebrae’s programme of activities has grown considerably, but in order to maintain this we now need to grow all areas of our fundraising. For the right candidate, this role offers the opportunity to make a transformational difference to Tenebrae’s artistic scope and financial sustainability as we approach our 25th anniversary in the 2026-27 season.
The Development Manager will be responsible for:
- Working with the CEO to refresh and implement our 3-year fundraising strategy;

Location
After an initial period of office-based training, we are happy to consider flexible and remote working in order to facilitate other commitments such as caring responsibilities, although ideally you will be based in our office in Hammersmith for at least 2 days per week.
Hours
We are advertising this as a full-time position at 35 hours per week plus a one-hour lunch break each day. However, for the right candidate we would be happy to discuss the possibility of working part-time (4 days per week) or compressed hours. Our standard office hours are 09:30 - 17:30, Monday to Friday. On occasion you may be required to attend weekend or evening events, for which you will be entitled to time off in lieu (TOIL).

Overview of the Role
The Grants Officer will work the one other Grants Officershare the workload of managing the grant-giving of donors and funders to achieve their giving aims, and help support local charitable groups meet the needs of the communities they serve. We currently manage around 50 grant-giving funds, most named and directed by different families, individuals, companies, and public sector bodies e.g. the NHS. We have well-established grant giving processes. We plan to keep increasing our impact on and support of local communities.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks
1) Grant Giving Processes
- Help manage our Making Local Life Better Fund, which combines a number of donor funds who wish to give responsively, and which is open to groups to apply for any (charitable) support, at least three times a year.
- Help manage intermittent standalone funds of over £50k, within agreed timescales, for donors and funders who wish to make a specific impact.
c. Most donor funds work in one or other of these two ways, but there are some who work differently to make their grants, and you will help manage these
This work includes some or all of the following:
i. Direct contact with some donors and/or funders
ii. writing fund criteria based on donor/funder aims in ways that applicants can easily understand
iii. promoting funds on the website, networks, funding fairs, etc
iv. offering basic support where groups need help with applying
v. reading and assessing grant applications thoroughly, against the criteria of the fund, for governance and legal requirements, viability impact etc, asking questions if necessary
vi. writing brief accurate summaries of applications that donors and funders understand, and that can also be used in reports.
vii. setting up and supporting decision-making panels in person or online
viii. ensuring grant offers/agreements/payments are made
ix. arranging interim visits to groups if needed
x. in some cases, setting up and managing formal monitoring
xi. creating reports as required for Board and other audiences
xii. some line management in terms of briefing and supporting freelance or administrative staff who help our grant giving
2) Strategic and Stakeholder Work; Local Intelligence
a. Maintain and develop our knowledge of and reach to local charitable groups, via visits, workshops, briefings and other methods
b. Ongoing streamlining of systems, balancing safeguarding (of money and people) and maximising impact
c. Develop our Advisory Group, and pool of assessors and panellists
d. Develop/maintain relationships with external stakeholders e.g. councils, external working groups, infrastructure groups, other funders, 360 Giving, the Community Foundation network
e. Start to contribute to our local needs analysis, and impact measurement, for understanding of how our grants create change for the better
3) Administration and Teamwork
1. Manage our grant giving and your own administrative needs by maximising our CRM system (a version of Salesforce), and Microsoft Office tools
2. Work with the constraints and opportunities of a small charity
3. Help maintain the Community Foundation’s good reputation, offering equitable access and timely communications
Skills and Background Needed
1) Considerable experience of grant-giving (particularly between £1000 and £10,00000) in the local charitable and voluntary sector, or related sector
2) Strong organisational and administration skills: you will use Microsoft Office applications and our bespoke Salesforce database daily
3) Excellent “people” skills; you need to be very organised, but this is not a purely an administrative role; communication and teamwork are needed to work with all staff in the small team, as well as with donors, funders, trustees, and other stakeholders
4) A strong understanding of inclusion, equity and diversity, and the ability to work effectively with people from a range of backgrounds, proactively seeking to include eligible groups from all areas in the city and county
5) Skills in writing and summarising information
6) Ability to manage workloads constructively
7) Ability to research relevant information and keep up with key developments
8) Ability to learn internal and external policies and processes, in line with GDPR, Charity Law, and our own rigorous Quality Accreditation process

The role
We are seeking a dynamic Director of Income Generation to join our senior leadership team. This new and pivotal role will be responsible for developing and implementing robust income generation strategies to diversify and grow our funding and trading streams.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in fundraising or sales, building strategic partnerships, and driving innovation in income generation. As a key player in our organisation, you will lead a dedicated team and work collaboratively to ensure the sustainability and expansion of our vital programmes.
Key responsibilities
Income Generation Strategy:

Develop and execute a comprehensive income generation strategy that aligns with the charity’s mission and goals;

Identify and explore new income streams, including fundraising, partnerships, and product development.
Fundraising:

Oversee all fundraising activities, including trusts and foundations and individual giving;

Cultivate and maintain relationships with major donors, funders, and sponsors;

Develop compelling fundraising campaigns, events and initiatives to attract new supporters;
-
Oversee bids and pitches;
-
Act as an ambassador for the charity, championing its interests locally and nationally with stakeholders and potential supporters.
Business Development and Partnerships:

Identify, establish, and nurture strategic partnerships with businesses, foundations, and other organisations;

Develop new business and partnership engagement communications - a suite of tools and collateral;

Negotiate partnership agreements and manage ongoing relationships to maximise mutual benefits;

Product Development:

Marketing and Communications:

Oversee the creation of compelling campaigns and content, and the charity’s digital presence including website, SEO and social media.
Leadership and Team Management:

Lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing income generation team including four direct reports (Senior Fundraising Manager, Head of New Business Partnerships, Head of Partnership Experience, Head of School Partnerships);

Set clear objectives, provide regular feedback, and support professional development;

Collaborate with the wider Leadership Team on Future Frontiers’ strategy and plan for growth;

Financial Management:

Prepare and manage the income generation budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources;

Monitor and report on income generation performance, providing regular updates to the CEO and Board of Trustees;

Oversee production of annual report and fundraising matters for the annual accounts and audit;

Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and best practices in fundraising management.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
