The role
This is an exciting time for us and a rare opportunity to join a “new” charity that has the profile, assets, and mission of an established one. Our first substantive Director of Finance will be able to see the bigger picture but be committed to excellence in the fundamentals. They will be ambitious, but that ambition will be underpinned by rigorous attention to detail. They will own and be accountable for their directorate but will possess a strong instinct to collaborate. Most of all, they will believe in the Charity’s mission and ensure that every aspect of our work supports its delivery.
As a key member of the senior leadership team, reporting to the Chief Executive, the Director of Finance will:
• Proactively contribute to the development and delivery of the Charity’s strategy through implementing long-term financial planning to underpin our objectives.
• Role model excellence in their management of the finance team to inspire them to thrive in their roles and deliver high performance standards across the financial functions of the Charity.
• Engage and inspire the wider Charity team to collectively foster a positive culture of financial responsibility and transparency, ensuring that all our activities demonstrate value for money and deliver impact for our donors, supporters, and stakeholders.
• Be committed to the good stewardship of our financial resources and take responsibility for the financial health of the Charity. Working with the Director of Operations & Resources, you will champion the responsible use of our financial and non-financial resources to deliver the biggest impact we can have for our beneficiaries.
• Act as company secretary, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements, including from the Charity Commission, Companies House, HMRC, and other relevant bodies.
Person Specification -
Knowledge and experience
We are looking for candidates with demonstrable strategic financial leadership spanning organisational planning, budgeting, risk, and reporting. You will have:
• A recognised financial qualification. Excellent knowledge of charity financial management, procurement and contracting at a senior level is ideal but not essential.
• Experience of effective budget setting and implementing controls and processes to manage and monitoring budgets.
• Advanced understanding of risk management.
• Experience of improving policies and processes in comparable organisations.
• Success in delivering increased cost effectiveness.
• Evidence of building financial impact and performance metrics and reporting.
• Understanding of the requirements of legislation, Charity Commission and professional body guidance on being a well-run and financially accountable Charity – or an ability to familiarise themselves with charitable law.
• Considerable experience of management and development of staff.

The role of Dose of Nature’s Development Manager is a permanent, high-level role which will continue to evolve as the work of Dose of Nature grows over the coming years. The post involves creating and implementing a fundraising strategy, supporting the Chief Executive with financial planning, and providing clear long-term direction to income generation.
The Development Manager will work directly with the Chief Executive to devise a long-term development strategy, identify and secure funding partners, and produce relevant and compelling funding proposals. Currently the main sources of funding are from trust and foundation grants and local council health care grants. Going forward the Development Manager will grow the funding stream from trusts and foundations and look to solidify the donations from locals. As the charity develops there will also be opportunities of securing funding from the corporate sector, helping to secure Dose of Nature’s future.
The role requires a focused and detail-oriented mindset, entrepreneurial flair, business development experience, excellent written communication and interpersonal skills, good time management and the ability to juggle several complicated tasks at once. It provides a fantastic opportunity for someone with a “can-do” attitude, someone who is passionate about supporting the aims of Dose of Nature and also who wants the freedom to make this role their own.
As with any small charity we hope to find someone who is multi-faceted in terms of their fundraising skill set, and within this, without being a communications specialist, we anticipate that the Development Manager will have experience of charity communications (although this is not the main focus of the role). Ideally the Development Manager will be able to help with creating a communications strategy, support communication tools such as newsletters and social media, and identify any opportunities that may help Dose of Nature grow.
Dose of Nature has an annual turnover of approximately £400,000, of which 75% is currently raised from trust and foundation grants along with donations from individuals. The Development Manager will be responsible for maintaining this income and also securing significant new funding during 2024-25. With a good network of local support, the Development Manager will have the advantage of having a database of supporters to work with and there is the potential to create an individual appeal or giving scheme. Currently the Chief Executive makes all funding applications to trusts and foundations and these relationships will be passed on to the Development Manager who will be expected to nurture these and secure grants from new sources.

The Role
This is a dynamic new and exciting role which will play a key part in our strategy for development and growth at Link to Change. The role involves managing our apprenticeship schemes, developing, and delivering our income generation strategy, providing business support to our Chief Executive, and collaborating with key partners and stakeholders.
Duties and Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development, delivery and evaluation of communication tactics that contribute to the impact of our work, focused on informing and influencing key audiences based upon the charity’s strategies.

Strategy, planning and reporting

- Manage budgets for fundraising activities and events;
- Report against monthly, quarterly and annual targets, identifying variances and strategies to address where needed;

Trust, Major Donor, Corporate and Regular Giver Fundraising
- Identify and secure new trust and corporate funding relationships through database analysis, desk research, networking, formal presentations, and producing concept notes or proposals;
- Retain and maximise relationships with existing trust and corporate portfolio through designing and delivering bespoke annual engagement strategies, including exclusive and personalised reports, briefings, calls and proposals;
- Promote cross-department collaboration on trust and corporate fundraising to maximise both unrestricted and restricted fundraising, leading meetings, identifying synergies, and integrating pipelines and prospecting mechanisms;
- Identify and secure new major donors and regular givers, conceptualising and running acquisition campaigns alongside the HC&G;
- Identify potential major donors and high value regular givers within Afghanaid’s donor portfolio and implement plans to develop these relationships;
- Manage and maximise relationships with existing major donors and high value regular givers through designing and delivering annual engagement strategies, including reports, calls and proposals;
- Collaborate with colleagues to produce content for engaging monthly email newsletters for high value portfolio;
- Design and manage an annual campaign to upgrade existing regular givers;
- Secure match funding from key trust, corporate and major donors to maximise the success of events and appeals;
- Mobilise Board of Trustees and Directors to support with stewardship of high value donor relationships;
- Organise the annual high value donor dinner, compiling the invitee list, managing RSVPs and organising other logistics;
- Coordinate and attend other events and external fora, representing Afghanaid, networking and pursuing opportunities;
- Manage external platforms related to high value giving including Benevity, Global Giving and Myriad US, updating where appropriate in alignment with campaigns and appeals and actively identifying ways to maximise their use and join new platforms where appropriate;
- Work with colleagues to identify and pursue opportunities for gifts-in-kind or alternative high-value partnerships.
Data and administration
- Ensure all phone calls, meetings, emails and other engagement with trusts, corporates, major donors and high value regular givers are logged on Salesforce, ensuring records are clean;
- Work with the Database and Insights Analyst to conceptualise and implement key CRM processes that promote efficiency, accuracy and maximise the use of automations;
- Work with the Database and Insights Analyst and other C&G colleagues to ensure all donations from these donation streams are recorded and reconciled accurately on the database;
- Ensure Gift Aid declarations are sought from all eligible donors and appropriately filed;
- Liaise with colleagues to ensure funding contract requirements are adhered to;
- Monitor the Supporter Care email address to ensure all donors are receiving the best possible experience;
- Undertake any other duties as and when required by the line manager and/or overview manager.

The role
A hugely exciting opportunity has become available to join the Football Foundation as our Community Engagement Lead. The postholder will work dynamically with colleagues across the Foundation as well as externally with a range of partner including funding partner organisations, the Active Partnerships, and other National Governing Bodies to continually shape and refine our approaches based on learning, research, and insight.
This role will be challenging, but the post holder has the opportunity to influence change throughout the Foundation’s processes and ensure meaningful community engagement is undertaken by our applicants.
What are we looking for?
You don’t need to follow football to apply, but it is expected that you appreciate the power of sport to change lives and have a genuine interest in using your skills and experience to help the Foundation achieve our charitable and strategic objectives.
Key to this role will be your exceptional knowledge and understanding of place-based working and the ingredients required to successfully tackle inequalities and affect change within a local area. A crucial part of this will be your knowledge of the workings of Local Authorities and the role they play within community development.
You’ll have strong communication and interpersonal skills, with experience of building and managing multiple stakeholder relationships, as well as experience of managing, leading and developing small teams.
You’ll have excellent planning and organisational skills, with experience of developing programmes to meet the requirements of multiple funders, but you’ll also have the flexibility to adapt to a diverse workload. You’ll also have strong attention to detail, with experience of producing robust reports for decision-makers and presenting to panels or committees.

What can we offer you?
The salary band for this role is £48,000 – £55,000 per annum, dependent on relevant skills and experience.
You will start on 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays (which increases after 2 years), plus additional time off to volunteer. Experience of managing finances, staff, volunteers and programmes is essential.

Learning with Parents supports all families to have positive learning interactions together and leads the sector to learn what works in tackling inequality.
In partnership with 150 primary schools, we support families across the UK to enjoy learning together at home. Families are motivated to sustain and enjoy frequent and positive interactions together.
Our parental engagement journey with schools starts by focussing on reading. Our digital reading log is an inclusive way for schools and families to record reading, replacing physical reading records.
Our full Maths and English programme builds on the positive habits fostered by our reading log. It replaces traditional Maths and English homework with fun activities which have parent-child interaction at their heart. Through behavioural insight research, innovative technology and teacher training we ensure that as many families as possible are supported effectively.
We are working to improve parental engagement across the sector, by producing evidence of parents’ impact and generating insights into how schools can best support them. Learnings are disseminated through the Parental Engagement Forum and amplified through the Fair Education Alliance.
About the Role
There are 1.4 million primary-aged children growing up in poverty in the UK, and we are currently only working with a fraction of them. We have grown rapidly over the last few years and are now looking to grow our Fundraising team to the next level.
The Fundraising and Communications Officer will work as part of the Fundraising team to deliver Learning with Parents’ fundraising strategy. Their primary focus will be strengthening our existing funding pipeline through prospects research and managing the donor database. They will also be responsible for drafting compelling applications and reports for new and existing donors. They will develop and adapt our fundraising resources and provide wider support to the team.
The Fundraising and Communications Officer will also be responsible for managing Learning with Parents external communications, including creating and posting engaging blogs and social media posts, drafting the Annual Impact Report and managing the organisation’s brand guidelines.
Lastly, the Fundraising and Communications Officer will provide logistical support for the Parental Engagement Forum.

Fundraising support

Research prospects who are a good fit for our work including corporate funders, trusts and foundations, High Net Worth Individuals and Sector Awards

Working with our Fundraising Manager, build our funder pipeline in order to support accurate forecasting for the organisation

Working with our Fundraising Manager, craft well-written project proposals and briefings to inspire and engage funders including corporate funders, individuals and Trusts and Foundations

Cultivate and steward existing and new donors, helping to secure ongoing support and identify potential uplifts

Build relationships across the Learning with Parents team to source and manage information about our work, keeping up to date with progress and impact

Manage Learning with Parents’ reporting schedule, feeding into our draft reports as required

Draft and spend out engaging and impactful quarterly funder newsletters

About you

The Finance and Operations Team underpins the Charity’s delivery of its mission and is responsible for management of the Charity’s endowment, financial sustainability and charitable impact, governance and compliance, and management of business operations such as IT, facilities etc.
