Why We Need Your Help We are granting a record number of wishes, providing families with a precious opportunity to rescue the magic of childhood as quickly as we can. But demand for wishes is far outpacing our best efforts to keep up, so it’s taking longer than ever to grant wishes to children and families who are facing some of their toughest and most relentless times together.
By volunteering, you have the power to make a wish come true for a critically ill child, allowing families to create lasting memories to treasure forever – no matter what the future holds.
What you will be doing With the demand for wishes being so high, we urgently need to generate vital support to help us to say yes to every eligible child, and that’s where you come in! Once our expert team of Wishgranters have designed a child’s magical wish, we need your time, skills, passion and energy to bring that wish to life and make it a reality!
We need Wish Makers across the UK to help us to:
- Research and reach out to local companies, telling them about the children that are waiting for their wishes right now in their region and asking them to donate their services and goods such as a limousine ride or a hotel stay so that a local child’s wish can come true.
- Rally and inspire your community to raise funds to help pay for the rising cost of wishes, meaning that more children can have their wishes granted in as short a timescale as possible, and they can be part of making that magic happen!
- Work as a team with your fellow local volunteers to organise fundraising events such as balls, school sports days, workplace fundraisers etc that will enable more children to have their magical wishes granted by raising vital funds
- Arrange and deliver special gifts in the run up to the wish to add to the excitement and anticipation for the child and their family, and support with the collection and delivery of local donations for the wish itself, which range from princess costumes to balloons!
- Identify local businesses, community groups and organisations who would be willing to support Make-A-Wish UK and help children waiting in your local region.
- Apply for local funding/Charity of the Year opportunities such as supermarket charity opportunities, local council Mayor’s charities etc that could help to grant more local wishes and be part of something special in your community
- Support our wish families on the day of the wish itself, ensuring everything goes smoothly and everyone involved has a magical experience
The skills you need It truly does take a community of people to grant a wish, and we are looking for special people who want to become part of building these communities around the children that are waiting right now for their wishes to be granted. - Confident in approaching a wide range of different people, groups and organisations to ask for donations/support; in person, by phone and through email
- Warm, friendly and comfortable interacting with others to create the best experience possible, representing our wish children and their families to make communities feel part of our local mission
- Organised and able to think on their feet if needed; able to be pro-active to identify and develop opportunities in their local community
- Confident speaking about our mission in person and/or online and able to adapt to different audience needs
- A basic level of IT skills are essential for this role, and you will also need access to either a computer or smartphone/device

Social Anxiety Alliance UK is a young and developing charity looking for an experienced Treasurer with a background in financial management and accounting who can also help us to find funding and grants to continue the charity's development. The Treasurer will play a crucial role in overseeing the financial administration of the charity and will have a good understanding of charity finance and potential funding/grant awarding bodies. The Treasurer would also need to be willing to be a Trustee and aware of the governance issues relating to such a role.
Social anxiety involves an excessive fear of social situations. Sufferers will often fear being embarrassed or worry about being negatively evaluated by others. Anticipatory anxiety and situational avoidance are common, and individuals may endure social situations with a high level of discomfort. The scope of the anxiety may be focused on specific types of social situations or generalised to almost any social encounter.
We are the first UK charity dedicated to Social Anxiety.
We are a friendly board and we hold our meetings monthly online in the evening. Getting involved will mean that you can work with us to ensure financial sustainability, maximise income through grant applications and to set the strategic direction for the charity. You will also work with the Board to ensure that the charity operates within regulatory requirements and to develop projects which will help the charity to achieve its mission and goals.

VOLUNTEER TREASURER
We are the only charity in Kingston uniquely dedicated to assist those who provide unpaid care for someone experiencing Mental Health difficulties. Founded 20 years ago, we assist individual Carers (ie Family, Friends) with advice, guidance and peer support. As well as 1:1 support, we also have a monthly group where members can meet others to share lived-experience, and a weekly newsletter.
We also act as the collective voice to represent the views and concerns of these Carers. We are recognised in this campaigning role by statutory services in the Royal Borough of Kingston and SW London who engage us as active members of relevant committees and strategy groups, and we also partner with other third-sector organisations.
We are keen to further develop our service and we invite a volunteer with financial experience to help us achieve this. Whilst KMHCF is fully funded for its present activities, we will look to the Treasurer to guide us towards funding opportunities for future expansion, and to take the lead on the application processes.
Our financial activity is very low at the moment, but you would need to maintain financial control and ensure we comply with our legal responsibilities as a Registered Charity.
You should ideally have experience of serving in a small charity, or have appropriate transferrable skills.
It would be good if you have some awareness of Mental Health yourself, but this is not essential. Most of all, you should have the enthusiasm to serve Carers who can often feel isolated and bewildered.
The Treasurer would be part of our Management Committee which meets about every two months on a mid-week evening. Otherwise, the role is home-based. However, we welcome offers from our Committee to attend other meetings to represent the Forum or to take responsibility for leading projects, as they feel able.
The role is expected to lead to a Trustee position.

Primary responsibilities of the Branch Secretary
- To act as principal communications trustee managing and maintaining the administrative affairs of the branch.
- To act as the main contact point for all branch communications with the national Society, the branch committee and the branch membership.
- Order and distribute RSPCA stationary, leaflets, posters and other fundraising and promotional material.
- Arrange branch meetings, usually 11 per year, there is no meeting in December, meetings generally last about 2 hours and are held on the 3rd Thursday of the month. ⅔ of meetings are held virtually.
- Ensure all branch committee decisions are implemented and actions completed.
- Arrange the branch AGM Including the compilation and distribution of the annual report, nominations and agenda in line with the strict timetable laid down in the branch rules.
- Arrange the timely dissemination of the contents of all correspondence and literature received by the branch, ensuring availability to all committee members, and reply to all branch correspondence where necessary.
- Liaise with the Branch Support Specialist and group chief inspector and notify them of all branch meetings.
- Monitor the secretary's email address, issue the newsletters, issue any one off appeals.
Training is available.
Some times of the year are much busier than others. For example April when the Annual Report needs to be done, May when all the calling notices for the AGM need to be sent out and in June when everything needs to be prepared ready for the AGM.
Experience/skills/knowledge/personal qualities required
Applicants will need to be able to prioritise/organise a workload, being tactful but clear, have basic computer skills, understanding confidentiality and working independently whilst keeping everyone informed and accept the ethos of the RSPCA. Training is available.

Working from home with occasional visits to team meetings in Macclesfield, Congleton and Buxton areas.

FUNDRAISING COORDINATOR
Volunteer Store Collection Co-ordinators (East or West Suffolk)
Do you have previous fundraising experience? If you do or are good at coordinating and organising events, volunteer to help us manage our fundraising activities so we can raise essential funds to improve animal welfare.
Our fabulous team of volunteers run regular store collections across Suffolk helping to raise valuable funds and spread awareness of our vital work and upcoming fundraising events.
We are looking for a Volunteer Store Collection Co-ordinator to help plan and organise these collections in both the East Suffolk area (Felixstowe to Needham Market) and West Suffolk area (Stowmarket to Bury St Edmunds!)
Activities involve
- Liaise with our Community Engagement Administrator on locations/dates required and ensure bookings confirmed with store/head office.
- Co-ordinate with Store Managers on logistics/timings for the day. Book in volunteer collectors before each date (usually around 6 required for 2 hour shifts each), with assistance from Community Engagement Administrator and send information/reminders before the day to the team.
- Prepare collection buckets with labels and seal with ties.
- Deliver buckets, table and literature to a collector who is doing the first shift. Collect the buckets, table and literature from the last collectors and deliver the buckets to a Trustee to count/bank the takings.
- Follow up communications to volunteers, branch team and store manager notifying them of collection total and sending thank you's.

To do this we need local branches and volunteers who can coordinate people, ensure the local population know about SSAFA and keep things running smoothly behind the scenes.
Our branches support local volunteers to deliver services to veterans, serving personnel and their families. Some branches are divided into smaller divisions to ensure the best local service delivery. Each branch has a team of volunteer caseworkers, support volunteers, executive roles, and fundraisers.
When would you be needed and where would you be based?
This role is about leadership, coordination, and administration. As part of your local branch, you might have access to an office, but many volunteers are based at home. The role requires an ongoing time commitment, usually about 2-3 days per month. In addition, you would need to organise and attend regular meetings throughout the year.
What would you be doing?
- Providing leadership to the Branch and ensuring that all activities comply with SSAFA regulations both directly, and through the Branch Secretary, other Branch Officers, and Divisional Officers.
- Providing support and guidance to volunteers in office holder roles, and support with recruitment of volunteers into these positions to ensure the sustainability of the branch.
- Ensuring the financial integrity of the Branch, including the appointment of Treasurers and a local fundraising programme to meet branch running costs.
- Ensuring that all data is processed and held in accordance with SSAFA’s data management policies.
- Monitoring volunteer numbers against the demand for support and working with other volunteers, regional and central office staff to attract and recruit new volunteers as required.
- Ensuring that all volunteers are recruited, inducted, supported, and managed in line with SSAFA policies, such as the Volunteering Policy, Volunteer Code of Conduct, Data Protection Policy, and Safeguarding Policy.
- Building relationships with regional and central office staff, local voluntary organisations and, if applicable, SSAFA Service committees, local military establishments, prisons etc.
- Overseeing an appropriate programme of awareness raising so that potential clients, volunteers, and supporters know how to contact the branch.
- Providing timely reports and information to SSAFA’s Central Office
- Overseeing a programme of meetings including an AGM, branch meetings, committee meetings, training etc.
- Supporting any salaried branch staff and ensuring that their line management arrangements are working appropriately.
- Resolve any complaints that are suitable for local resolution in accordance with SSAFA’s Complaints Policy and procedures, referring upwards any that are not suitable for local resolution.
The remit of this role may change over the next 12-18 months depending on the outcome of a trial currently being undertaken.

- Local orientation as well as meet and greet sessions with key Central Office and regional teams.

- Support from Regional and central staff and peer support from fellow Chairs in neighbouring branches.
- Reimbursement of out-of-pocket expenses
- Volunteers will be covered by SSAFAs Public Liability Insurance whilst carrying out the role.
What are we looking for?
- Friendly and approachable people of any age (18+) with some experience of coordinating people and admin
- Willingness and ability to lead and manage a team of volunteers.
- Respectful and non-judgemental approach with beneficiaries, their family, other agencies and SSAFA colleagues
- Willingness and ability to learn basic digital skills. Ability to send and receive emails – you will receive your own SSAFA email address which you will be required to use when exercising your role.
- Willingness to use our on-line case management system (this is covered in the training course)
- Ability to understand and keep within the boundaries of the role for which training will be given.

Criminal justice charity Belong provides hope, rehabilitation and recovery for victims and perpetrators of crime. We provide mentoring, restorative justice and psychotherapy interventions, in UK prisons and communities.
Me Time is a new service for people with criminal convictions from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds, which aims to improve wellbeing and reduce re-offending amongst participants. Me Time offers short-term emotional well-being support and medium-term community and through the gate creative psychotherapy to people who are under probation supervision in Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire. The programme is open to male, female, gender diverse, and transgender individuals of all ages, from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds. Priority will be given to referrals for people facing multiple and complex disadvantages.
This 1 day per week role provides an exciting opportunity for a reliable, organised, resilient trainee-psychotherapist to join Belong's committed, specialist team. The successful applicant will be in their first, second or third year of a Masters qualification in e.g. Art psychotherapy, dance movement psychotherapy or integrative psychotherapy. They will deliver one to one psychotherapy interventions to people accessing Me Time at HMP The Mount, Hertfordshire Probation Units, Bedfordshire Probation Units, and/or remotely.

➢ Support participants to improve their wellbeing and to identify and tackle issues related to their offending behaviour e.g. relationship problems, substance misuse issues, adverse childhood experiences and racial trauma.
➢ Maintain detailed, high quality records of psychotherapy sessions in accordance with Belong, HCPC and UKCP guidelines and standards.
➢ Build excellent working relationships and communicate effectively with other members of Belong’s team, and with members of prison and probation teams.
➢ Model and encourage the use of non – verbal, creative methods e.g. visual arts, music, movement and writing as part of psychotherapy to enable participants to process their thoughts and feelings.
➢ Integrate several approaches to psychotherapy including psychodynamic and psycho-educational models and if appropriate, a mentalization - based approach in order to meet participant's needs.
➢ Manage difficult and demanding clinical situations including exploring complex, sensitive and disturbing personal issues with participants.
➢ Apply evidence based practice in being attune to and assisting participants to process transference and counter-transference feelings, for example in relation to daily experiences, creative work produced, the therapist, and others.
➢ Write progress reports at the end of each participant's engagement with psychotherapy, for reference during participants parole hearings and sentence planning processes.
➢ Share risk and safeguarding information appropriately with other professionals.
➢ Assess participant's mental state and identify any significant risk and protective factors, collaboratively undertaking and contributing to risk assessments with other professionals.
➢ Actively participate in relevant meetings e.g. team meetings, line management meetings, clinical supervision meetings, service reviews with participants.
➢ Ensure that participant's records and any art work produced are adequately stored and, if necessary, transported in line with Belong, Prison and Probation Service, and HCPC guidelines.
➢ Carry out administrative and evaluation tasks as required for the sustainability and smooth running of the service, actively encouraging participants to participate in evaluation and service development activities.
➢ Exert physical effort in moving equipment and furniture, e.g. when setting up a room for one to one work.
➢ Maintain registration with the Health Care Professionals Council (HCPC) and adhere to and implement the professional standards and policies of Belong, the Prison and Probation Service and the HCPC.
➢ Keep abreast of new developments and research in Psychotherapy and Forensic Psychotherapy.
➢ Undertake any other duties as may be appropriate to the level and nature of the post as determined by Belong’s Management and Trustee Board. Required Qualifications
➢ Good honours degree (2.2 or above) in psychology or equivalent.
➢ Undertaking training at Masters Level in Psychotherapy. Required Experience and Knowledge
➢ At least 1 year experience of working with people with criminal convictions or facing other significant disadvantages.
➢ At least 1 year experience of working within the criminal justice sector, the prison service or a related sector.
➢ Commitment to integrating several approaches to psychotherapy including psychodynamic and psycho-educational models.
➢ Willingness to manage difficult and demanding clinical situations including exploring complex, sensitive and disturbing personal issues with individuals.
➢ Good understanding of the issues faced by people who have committed offences and the specific issues faced by people from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Backgrounds in contact with the criminal justice system.
➢ Good knowledge of peoples' emotional and mental health needs.
➢ A strong understanding of the principles of confidentiality and of instances when this should be breached.
➢ Strong awareness of appropriate boundaries to be maintained with service users and of personal safety issues.

➢ Ability to form therapeutic relationships with people who have committed offences and are serving prison sentences or sentences in the community.
➢ Ability to apply a variety of models and theories to work with individuals.
➢ Ability to work with participants psychological, non-verbal and symbolic expression and consider these as meaningful communications where appropriate.
➢ Ability to maintain appropriate boundaries with participants and to manage personal safety whilst working in prisons and probation units.
➢ Ability to be attune to and process transference feelings and work with emotional projections from people to aid individuals understanding and communication of conscious and unconscious processes.
➢ Ability to work effectively under pressure of the psychological impact of highly charged situations eg. disclosure of sexual or emotional abuse and maintain the capacity to think clearly in these conditions.
➢ Excellent interpersonal, communication and listening skills.
➢ Good organisational skills.
➢ Basic artistic skills in using a variety of art materials and media in a variety of styles.
➢ Ability to work well with members of Belong’s multi-disciplinary team, members of the Probation and Prison Service and key stakeholders.
