About the Role

As a Safeguarding Trustee, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of the children and young people we serve. You will work closely with our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to oversee and enhance our safeguarding practices.

This is an unpaid position.

Key Responsibilities

- Review child protection and safeguarding referrals and concerns quarterly with the DSL, and present a report to the Board of Trustees.
- Provide an overview of safeguarding concerns at each Board meeting.
- Convene the Safeguarding and Child Protection Sub Group as needed.
- Annually review the Single Central Record and staff/volunteer training records.
- Support the DSL in the annual review of safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Stay informed about changes in safeguarding legislation and best practices.
- Address any unresolved safeguarding concerns within the organisation.

- Knowledge and understanding of Safeguarding and Child Protection for children, young people, and young adults.
- Willingness to undertake essential training as and when required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other trustees, staff, and volunteers.

Time Commitment

- Quarterly Trustee meetings (2 hours per quarter).
- Quarterly Safeguarding and Child Protection Sub Group meetings (1-2 hours).
- Monthly virtual meetings with the DSL.
- Additional time for ad hoc consultations and urgent situations.
- Attendance at the Annual General Meeting (AGM).
- Participation in training sessions as needed.

At The Mental Health Community we use our lived experience to build understanding and support for what it’s like to live and work alongside managing a mental health condition.

What we’re looking for

We are looking for at least 4 new trustees to join our team. Whatever your skillset, we’d love to hear from you and there are some areas where we need particular help:

· Treasurer: oversee our financial health, provide guidance on building long term financial plans to help us grow and ensure appropriate financial management.

· Marketing and Communications: strategic oversight of our marketing and communications, raising awareness of our work and reaching new audiences through digital strategies and media engagement.

· Fundraising: develop our fundraising strategy and income streams, including grant applications, corporate sponsorship and campaigns.

· Governance: guide us in operating transparently and effectively whilst maintaining high standards of governance in compliance with our governing document and charity law.

We particularly welcome applications from people with lived experience of mental ill health, young people aged 18-30, people of all socio-economic backgrounds, genders and people from Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities.

About the role

As a board of trustees we meet remotely every 6 weeks, there may be some activity in between meetings so the estimated total time commitment is 4 hours every 6 weeks.

In addition to using your specific skills to develop how we work, all trustees share responsibility for:

· Developing our activities to help us achieve our purpose and positive impact,

· Making sure we are compliant with our governing document and the requirements of the Charity Commission, and

· Being an active member of the board to help us make good decisions

About the Orpheus Centre

The Orpheus Centre is a charity and college which supports young disabled adults aged 18-25 to learn essential life skills, gain formal qualifications and prepare for future employment.

There are currently 66 students with 21 living on site in Godstone, Surrey. Students come from across the UK and all have a love of the arts.

Started by lyricist and musician Sir Richard Stilgoe, the organisation offers learning, care and development opportunities at the college and in the wider community, working with professional artists, businesses and other charities.

The overall aim is to equip the students with the skills they need to live as independently as possible and to pursue their chosen careers.

Time commitment

The time commitment is between 7 and 12 days per annum, including four Board meetings including the AGM (mainly in person), four committee meetings (mainly virtual), one or two awaydays and ad-hoc attendance.

What will you be doing?

The Board of Trustees is responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of Orpheus, developing the organisation’s aims, objectives and goals in accordance with the governing document and with legal and regulatory guidelines.

The role of the Finance Trustee includes all the above, but with a particular focus on the financial stability and wellbeing of the Orpheus Centre. As a member of that committee, you will play a full and active part in the work of the Finance and HR Committee, and in ensuring that the Board fulfils its responsibilities for the governance of the Orpheus Centre in relation to finance and HR. You will also work closely with the Chief Executive, Director of Finance & Operations and Head of HR (as well as with the Board Chair and the committee Chair) to support them in achieving the aims of the Orpheus Centre in the areas of finance and HR.

Your responsibilities will include:

• monitoring the charity’s financial management, and seeking assurance that ensuring expenditure is in line with Orpheus objects;
• liaising as necessary with the Chair of Trustees, Chair of Finance and HR Committee, Chief Executive, Head of Finance and Head of HR;
• supporting the Finance and HR Committee and Board to monitor Orpheus’ financial viability;
• monitoring the financial processes and procedures for the control of Orpheus’ assets;
• advising on the financial implications of Orpheus’ strategic plan;
• reviewing the annual accounts and, if necessary, liaising with the Orpheus Centre’s external auditors to ensure the accounts are compliant with current SORPs;
• reviewing the auditors' representation letter and monitoring and advising on any necessary remedial measures;
• ensuring that you undertake a thorough induction programme;
• monitoring progress in implementing decisions taken at committee meetings and keeping in close touch with the work of the Finance and HR Departments in general – while always respecting the boundary between the respective roles of executives and non-executives; 
• assessing and monitoring risks relevant to the finance and HR functions of the Orpheus Centre;

and

• monitoring and scrutinising performance data within the Finance and HR Departments.

The Trafford Centre Foundation is a new charitable grant-making trust undergoing formation and approval. In the coming few months, the Foundation is aiming to distribute funding received from the Trafford Centre’s owners, employees, brand partners and visitors to support communities within the North-West.

The Charity looking for two additional Trustees with one acting as the Chair of the Trustee Board. Trustees are both charity trustees and company directors who report to Pain Concerns members.

Time commitment

Trustees meet every 3 months, with room for flexibility in scheduling of contact time or communications between meetings and reviewing of documentation.

Different Planet Arts are looking for new trustees to join our team. We make innovative and accessible award-winning inclusive sensory theatre and arts events for children and young people with complex additional needs and their families to enjoy together. We believe in a world where arts experiences and events are accessible to everyone and celebrated as part of the everyday cultural landscape.

We would particularly like to hear from people with an interest and skills in the following areas

• Charity Finance
• fundraising
• Marketing and audience development
• Inclusive arts

We are seeking three new Trustees to help shape and support the world-leading and student-focussed Rambert School to ensure it remains a centre of global excellence in dance education. We are particularly interested in those with skills and experience in the following areas:

· Higher Education (HE) and Academic Governance

· Finance

· Human Resources (HR)

· Fundraising

Rambert school was founded in 1920 and is an independently registered Higher Education Provider with the Office for Students (OfS), having previously been a member school of the Conservatoire for Dance & Drama from 2005 to 2022. We believe that dance, choreography and creativity can transform the lives of young people and society more broadly.  If you share this belief and have the passion, lived experience and interpersonal skills to join our welcoming Board of Trustees, then we want to hear from you.

We are interested in hearing from both those with existing Board experience and those who have never been on a Board before and will provide the appropriate information, training and support to all new Trustees, through a thorough induction process. We warmly welcome applications from applicants from both diverse and underrepresented backgrounds, who will bring a fresh perspective and a range of expertise and experience to the Board. A more diverse Board will better represent the staff and student body of the School.

Join Our Trustee Board: Shape the Future of a Historic Charity

We are seeking passionate and dedicated individuals to join the Trustee Board of the Kettering Almshouse, a 17th-century charitable institution gifted to support those in housing need in the parish of Kettering. This historic building has recently undergone extensive restoration work by English Heritage, and we are now looking for trustees to help guide this charity into its next chapter.

As a trustee, your role will involve ensuring the charity's continued success and sustainability, overseeing the ongoing care of the historic buildings, and ensuring our residents feel supported, valued, and at home. You’ll be part of a small team responsible for protecting and enhancing a vital community asset, balancing tradition with modern needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Safeguard the legacy of this charitable institution.
• Ensure that the buildings are properly maintained and cared for.
• Support residents and make sure they feel secure and welcome in their homes.
• Guide the future direction of the Almshouse to meet evolving community needs.
