We are looking for ambitious and passionate Trustees to join our Team at Advicenow at a time of growth for the charity but also substantial social and economic challenges for our beneficiaries.

Advicenow has been providing legal support to individuals and communities since 2011. We provide routes to access to justice for people who are otherwise unable to secure basic rights and entitlements to their income, their home and to protect their families. We have a strong track record in leading technological innovation, and educational and research design to tackle legal needs at scale.

As a member of the board you will ultimately be responsible for the overall direction, vision and strategy of Law for Life. We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Trustee to work alongside the Chair, Board and CEO to ensure sound growth, strategic development and the ability to manage scale.

You will have the ability to innovate, to think strategically, while demonstrating sound judgement. You will help us to move on to the next stage of our three year strategic plan We are looking to appoint individuals who share our values in social justice and legal empowerment and would like to become involved.

 In particular, we would also like to hear from people who have experience in any of the following areas:

• People with experience in charity fundraising and communications & marketing, particularly community giving & philanthropy and digital & media marketing.
• People with experience in digital innovation and IT strategy in particular generative AI, data architecture, generative or Cybersecurity.
• People with experience in building high-level partnerships and fostering collaborations to support the charity’s mission.
• People with lived experience of legal, social, or financial challenges similar to those faced by Advicenow’s service users, offer a first-hand perspective on their needs and barriers to access.We are searching for people from all backgrounds and sectors but are particularly keen to enhance Board expertise from people with lived experience of discrimination, poverty or access to justice needs.

Make a Difference as a Trustee for Jerry Green Dog Rescue

Last year, Jerry Green Dog Rescue rehomed nearly 500 dogs, and provided support to many more in the community. We are proud to be the exemplar of the highest standard of dog welfare in rescue services, achieving 100% in our most recent Association of Dog and Cat Home assessment. We have a proud history and an ambitious strategy and are now looking for more trustees to support us on the next stage of our development.

We are seeking dedicated and passionate individuals to join our Board of Trustees. As a trustee, you will play a vital role in shaping the strategic direction of our charity, ensuring we continue to make a lasting impact on dog welfare.

This is an exciting time to join our organisation. In 2024, we agreed an ambitious new five-year strategy that will further strengthen our ability to support dogs in need. Who we’re looking for

• Treasurer: A qualified accountant providing expert guidance to the Board in financial matters.

• Land & Property: Expertise in land ownership, property development, or land surveying to advise on strategic decisions regarding our land assets.

• Retail: Experience in retail, ideally charity retail and expansion, to support our Head of Retail in growing our retail operations.

• Fundraising: A fundraising expert to support our Head of Fundraising and Marketing, with a particular focus on AI innovation, social platforms, and emerging technologies.

• Legal: A qualified lawyer or solicitor.

Overview 

For over 40 years Evolve Counselling has provided lowest-cost professional mental health counselling for adults in Cambridgeshire, Peterborough, Northamptonshire and beyond, through the skill and dedication of our team of 60+ BACP-registered counsellors.

The role 

We are looking for a new Chair who understands the growing demand for our services and the challenges of competing as a medium sized charitable business at this time. We shall look to our new Chair to build trust and engagement with our CEO, the Trustee Board, our volunteers, and supporters, as we capitalise on great recent work to stabilise and find new opportunities for significant growth. 

The new chairperson will ideally bring health and wellbeing experience and commercial skills, as well as a demonstrable empathy for charitable working and commitment to the Nolan Principles of public life. 

The role of the Chair is hugely rewarding and the scope under the leadership of the current CEO for Evolve to grow and innovate is significant. You will have significant senior leadership experience to drawn upon as you take ultimate responsibility for directing and inspiring the Trustees, making sure we are financially sustainable, and well run for our clients. Our ethos is to look upwards and outwards as we strive for a leading position in mental health services for all, and your commercial acumen, professional contacts, and powers of persuasion in business will be a huge support for our ambitions. 

Including quarterly board meetings, committee sessions (at present virtual), a face-to-face AGM event, plus away days, and regular meetings with our CEO and the trustees, we anticipate a flexible time commitment of around 2 - 5 days per month.

A special opportunity has arisen to be instrumental in shaping the future for Wimbledon and Putney Commons.  Do you have the drive, enthusiasm and experience to take on this important charity trustee role? 

This is a Ministerial Appointment to the Board of Conservators by the Secretary of State for the Home Office under Section 12 of the Wimbledon and Putney Commons Act 1871. 

The Wimbledon and Putney Commons Conservators (WPCC) ensure that Wimbledon Common, Putney Heath and Putney Lower Common are managed and conserved in accordance with the Wimbledon and Putney Commons Act 1871, and their legal obligations as Trustees of a registered charity. We are a non-political organisation, dedicated to the conservation and protection of the Commons.

The Commons comprise around 1,140 acres of countryside in London, designated as a Site of Metropolitan Importance for Nature Conservation with approximately 80 percent designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and a Special Area of Conservation (SAC). The open space can be enjoyed for exercise and recreation and attracts large numbers of visitors. The Commons are also home to many sporting facilities including some 48 acres of playing fields used for rugby, football and cricket, has 16 miles of horse rides, and a golf course. 

We are looking for someone with drive, enthusiasm and an appropriate balance of skills to complement the experience within the existing Board. An interest or experience of nature conservation and recreational open spaces would be beneficial. 

To ensure an appropriate balance of skills and experience within the Board, it would be particularly advantageous if applicants were able to demonstrate skills and experience of finance, income generation and fundraising. The initial appointment is for a three-year term, which may be extended by further three-year terms. It is desirable that applicants are able to demonstrate experience in being part of a multi-disciplinary Board of Trustees and will uphold the Seven Principles of Public Life (the Nolan Principals).

The role of Trustee is a volunteer role and is not accompanied by any financial remuneration, although reasonable expenses for travel may be claimed.

The role requires attendance & contribution at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and four Board meetings per year (plus any required preparation and pre-reading). Quarterly Board Meetings take place mostly online and periodically in person at a North West location.

There will also be potential additional engagement in strategy work and sub working groups throughout the year and occasional representation of the charity at various events with key stakeholders.

Our Voice are the parent carer forum for the London Borough of Enfield – a parent-led organisation whose work supports the families of children and young people aged 0 -25 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, living or attending school in our borough.

Duties

• Support and provide advice on Emerge Worldwide’s purpose, vision, mission, goals and activities. 

• Approve operational strategies and policies, and monitor and evaluate their implementation.

• Oversee Emerge Worldwide’s financial plans and budgets and monitor and evaluate progress. 

• Ensure the effective and efficient administration of the organisation.

• Ensure that key risks are being identified, monitored and controlled effectively.

• Keep abreast of changes in Emerge Worldwide’s operating environment.

• Contribute to regular reviews of Emerge Worldwide’s own governance. Attend Board meetings and adequately prepared to contribute to discussions.

• Use independent judgment, acting legally and in good faith to promote and protect Emerge Worldwide’s interests, to the exclusion of their own personal and/or any third-party interests.

• Contribute to the broader promotion of Emerge Worldwide’s objects, aims and reputation by applying your skills, expertise, knowledge and contacts.

As a small charity, there will be times when the trustees will need to be actively involved beyond Board meetings. This may involve scrutinising board papers, leading discussions, focusing on key issues, providing advice and guidance on new initiatives, presenting externally, or other issues in which the trustee has special expertise.

Terms of office

• Trustees are encouraged to attend all staff in-person meetings which run 3 times annually plus any relevant training days.

Barnsley Hospice is a registered charity and we are currently recruiting for Trustees to support the existing Board. We are the only consultant-led specialist centre in Barnsley, supporting palliative patients at life’s end and their families through a range of expert services, including clinical symptom management, counselling, complementary health & wellbeing therapy and social work.

We are looking for candidates with a proven track record of significant achievement within the business/commercial sector at a senior level. Retail, finance or legal experience would be particularly welcome.  Charity experience is not a prerequisite, but the ability to maintain the balance between care, compassion and commercialism will be a real benefit. You must be someone who recognises and fulfils their responsibilities and is able to practice good governance. It is important that you are someone who can see the bigger picture, keeping the aims and objectives of the charity in mind at all times.

Asthma + Lung UK is dedicated to a world where everyone has healthy lungs. Through our campaigns, research, and support services, we aim to transform perceptions, prioritise lung health, and improve the lives of those affected by lung conditions.
