Would you like to join our board and help us protect and grow the Kingston Women’s Centre? The Clinical Trustee role ensures the Clinical practice of KWC staff and volunteers are kept in line with BACP ethical standards and KWC’s Policies and Procedures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Strategic 

·  To assist and advise in the formation of the KWC’s strategy with particular regard to ensuring KWC has the clinical expertise to deliver the strategy. 

2. Clinical 

·To offer advice and support to the Clinical Manager in the development of KWC’s clinical services.

·To support the Clinical Manager in the development of innovative and developmental concepts for volunteers, staff and service users where appropriate.

· To assist the Clinical Manager, staff, and Board members in networking within the clinical sector.

· Where needed to support the Clinical Manager in the recruitment of Supervisors.

· To make recommendations to the Board of appropriate clinical changes to KWC’s Policies and Procedures and controls.

· To ensure the Board receives appropriate information on the activities that affect the clinical running of KWC. 

3. Governance

· To ensure the Board is aware of its clinical duties and responsibilities and the need to comply with legislation and BACP code of ethics. 

· To ensure all clinical policies, procedures and any appointment of external clinical advisors are reviewed on a regular basis.

· To monitor and report to the Board and offer solutions to any clinical concerns.

5. Key Qualities/Experience 

· Experience in a Senior Clinical role; ideally currently working in counselling, psychotherapy and or supervising counsellors and psychotherapists.

· Experience in developing Clinical Services and of working within the community.

· Good communication/interpersonal and decision- making skills.

· Ability to work collaboratively and constructively as a member of the Board.

· Willingness to devote the necessary time and effort to the role of Trustee.

· An understanding and acceptance of legal duties, responsibilities, and liabilities of trusteeship.

· Good independent judgment, strategic perspective, and vision.

We are currently seeking two new trustees to join our board. The Board of Trustees is responsible for the governance of the charity, setting and overseeing its strategy. They ensure the organisation is run effectively and that its activities and outcomes are properly accounted for. We welcome applications from both members and non-members of the organisation.

Main responsibilities 

1. Developing and reviewing strategic aims consider the Region as a whole, including its trading operations, and its members:

• reflect our vision, strategy, major policies and values always.

• contribute specific skills, experience and contacts in support of our activities.

2. Ensuring policies and practices are in keeping with aims:

• abide by the principles laid down in the person specification (and code of conduct).

• attend meetings of the Trustee Board (there are normally 4 per year as well as the AGM) and the reporting committees if required (frequency varies).

 3. Exercise effective control and ensure best practice:

• attend training and development opportunities as appropriate.

• work effectively as a team member of the Trustee Board in exercising its responsibilities and functions.

• take an active role in a reporting committee and/or subcommittee or working groups, contributing specialist skills, experience and knowledge as required.

• protect the assets and integrity of the charity, regarding best practice.

• maintain good relations with our staff.

• fulfil such other duties and assignments as may be required from time to time by the Trustee Board.

• engage with members of the Region at other levels in the organisation.

Secretary/Trustee

Who we are:

We are a long-standing (33 years) local charity, based in Ashford, providing friendly advice, companionship and volunteering opportunities for anyone in our part of Kent who is socially isolated, lonely, or would welcome support with their mental health and wellbeing. We arrange 3 free drop-in sessions per week at Ashford Parish Rooms, at which our service users participate in a wide range of activities including crafts, singing and art therapy. We also offer food and beverages from our pop-up healthy eating café and dedicated door-to-door transport where required.

Due to an upcoming retirement we are now seeking a Treasurer to join our Board of Trustees. 

About the Role:

The Secretary will be responsible for the smooth and efficient running of meetings of the Trustee Board, providing assistance and support to the Chair. They will also be involved in monitoring compliance to the legal and regulatory requirements affecting the charity and its activities, and ensuring that the Trustees’ decisions are acted upon and that all decisions made by the Trustees are in accordance with the governing document, reflect the objects of the charity, and continue to provide public benefit. They will liaise with the Chair and the charity team to ensure that events such as the AGM and Trustee Board meeting are scheduled and administered, with accurate minutes taken and circulated and agreed action points implemented.

It is expected that all Trustees will be able to attend our Trustee meetings in Ashford, which are held at least once a quarter, as well as the AGM and ideally a small number of other functions eg fundraising events.

Skills & Experience:

Essential:

Good time management and keeping to deadlines

Good level of IT skills (email, Microsoft Word)

Ability to take minutes of meetings

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Willingness to commit sufficient time to the Secretary role

Eligible to be a Trustee

Desirable:

Previous experience of working with/for a charity, or being a charity trustee or involved with the adult social care/health sector, would be an advantage but is by no means essential.

The London Basketball Association (LBA) provides sustainable and regular participation in the sport of basketball whilst aiding and encouraging a variety of career paths for young people living in London’s most deprived and isolated communities. 

What is LBA looking for?

The London Basketball Association is pleased to announce that an opportunity has arisen for a Board of Trustees Chairperson to join our intensely committed organisation.

The Board of Trustees Chairperson is a pivotal role within the organisation, tasked with holding the Board and Executive Team to account, to ensure the Charity hits its mission and longer term strategic visions. This is achieved by providing inclusive leadership to the Board of Trustees, ensuring that each trustee fulfils their duties and responsibilities for the effective governance of the charity. The Chair will also support, and, where appropriate, challenge the CEO and ensure that the Board functions as a unit to achieve agreed objectives.

Time Commitments: The Board of Trustees meet 6 times per year [bi-monthly]. Meeting may be held either in person and virtually. In addition to attending and chairing board meetings, this role is required for 3 hours, bi-weekly, to support the CEO, other board members and in order to fulfil the below responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership

• Provide leadership to the LBA and its Board, ensuring maximum impact for its beneficiaries.

• Ensuring Trustees fulfil their duties and responsibilities and holding each Trustee to account where necessary.

• Ensure that the Board fulfils its duties to ensure sound financial health of the charity, with systems in place to ensure financial accountability.

• Regularly review, collectively, ‘major’ risks and associated opportunities, and ensure systems are in place to take advantage of opportunities, and manage and mitigate the risks.

• Ensure the Board operates within its charitable objectives, and provides a clear strategic direction.

• Act as an ambassador for the cause and the charity and where necessary act as a spokesperson for the organisation.

Governance

• Appraise the performance of the Trustees and the Board on an annual basis.

• Ensure that the Board of Trustees is regularly refreshed and incorporates the right balance of skills, knowledge and experience needed to govern and lead the charity effectively.

• Develop the knowledge and capability of the Board of Trustees.

• Ensure that the governance arrangements are working in the most effective way.

• Encourage positive change and where appropriate, address and resolve any conflicts within the Board.

• Work within any and all agreed LBA policies.

Effectiveness

• Chair meetings of the Board of Trustees effectively and efficiently, bringing impartiality and objectivity to the decision making process.

• Ensure that Trustees are fully engaged and that decisions are taken in the best, long-term interests of the LBA and that the Board takes collective ownership.

• Work closely with the CEO to give direction to Board policy-making and to ensure that meetings are well planned, meaningful and reflect the responsibilities of trustees.

• Facilitate change and address any potential external conflicts of interest.

• Establish and build a strong, effective and a constructive working relationship with the CEO, ensuring they are held to account for achieving agreed strategic objectives.

• Liaise with the CEO to maintain an overview of the Charity’s affairs, providing support as necessary.

• Conduct an annual appraisal and remuneration review for the CEO in consultation with other Trustees.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Knowledge

• Broad knowledge and understanding of the voluntary sector, in particular within the Sports sector, and current issues affecting it.

• Strong understanding of funding, fundraising strategies and grant management.

• Financial management expertise and a broad understanding of charity finance issues.

• Good understanding of charity governance issues.

Skills

• A strong and visible passion for basketball (or other sports) and commitment to the LBA, its strategic objectives and, ultimately, its cause.

• Exhibit strong interpersonal and relationship building abilities and be comfortable in an ambassadorial role.

• Strong tact and diplomacy skills, accompanied with the ability to listen and engage effectively.

• Ability to commit time to conduct the role well, including travel and attending events out of office hours.

Experience

• Experience of charity governance and working with or as part of a Board of Trustees

Expected Time Commitments

Trustees are asked to attend four trustee (Council) meetings per year, one of which includes the AGM.   Further support to the Trust and attendance to other committee meetings are encouraged, but it is recognised that these would be dependent on the individual’s personal circumstances and other commitments. 

Hybrid working - Meetings ideally take place ‘in person’ at the Bendrigg site (LA8 0NR) (minimum of two per year), however, online access can usually be made available if required.

Over the past four decades, the London Marathon Foundation (LMF) has awarded over £100 million to more than 1,500 projects which inspire activity across the UK. It’s crucial to our work to have young people’s ideas and expertise in the organisation. We need the broadest range of perspective on our Board, and we want to be guided by a range of people who can contribute to the continued development of our work across all communities, and that includes young people. We are looking to recruit at least one person aged 18 to 25 to bring their voice to the table, to help us find the best ways forward for the future of opera, for the future of the company and most importantly, for future audiences and artists from all backgrounds.

We also want to support young people in their professional and personal development, and we will work with Young Trustees to ensure this is an opportunity for them to build their knowledge and experience. Young Trustees will receive mentoring from existing Trustees and training will be provided for any areas they feel less confident in.

In addition to the recruitment of a young trustee and Board Lead for Butetown, we are also looking to recruit Trustees in a general capacity and welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, ages, skills and experience.

BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF GOAL YC – TRUSTEES INCLUDING CHAIR OF TRUSTEES 

We are currently recruiting volunteer trustees who are passionate about supporting young people. 

Gospel Oak Action Link Youth Club (GOALYC) is a Camden based Charity providing at no cost to our users, a rich variety of sports, music, education and other activities to mostly disadvantaged young people in the Gospel Oak area. We offer training and employment opportunities for older teenage members, helping to boost their skills, self-confidence and aspirations, regardless of background or learning abilities. 

Our Trustees will guide the charity's direction, upkeep, and policies, making key decisions that create a positive difference to our youth. This involves: 

• Overall strategy decisions. 

• Organise fundraising. 

• Liaising with our partner organisation, QCCA. 

• Reviewing grant applications and reports to funders. 

• Board Meetings three to four times a year. 

Appointment is subject to a DBS criminal records check, references and board approval. 

Commitment: Part-time/voluntary (at least 5 hours a month)

SEED Madagascar is looking for two new Trustees to work on its Board of Trustees and with the Managing Director and his team.  One role is to be the Vice Chair to support our Chair across her role, and the second role is to bring fundraising expertise to support SEED in its vital work in Madagascar.

SEED is growing and rising to the challenges that the country and its people are facing, and these Trustees will play an important role in SEED’s development.

SEED delivers impactful projects with communities in the southeast of Madagascar in the fields of community health, sustainable livelihoods, conservation and school infrastructure.  More recently SEED has responded to the famine affecting many families in the areas it works with emergency food distribution. 

The new Trustees will bring experience of working at a senior level in the not-for-profit sector. The Vice Chair will bring governance experience, and the fundraising trustee will have experience of fundraising in organsiations of a similar size. We are looking for a passion for, and understanding of, international development, along with strong people skills and a good grasp of strategic planning.

CPRE Hertforshire is a well-regarded environmental charity, dedicated to protecting, promoting and enhancing the Hertfordshire countryside.

You will help make a real difference with regard to the issues facing the local countryside. Your ideas and energy will help advocate for positive solutions, promote campaigns, and increase the charity's voice and reach to new audiences.

As Chair you’ll provide leadership to the Board of Trustees, an excellent team with a broad range of experience, and you’ll guide the future strategy, direction and development of the charity.

You will need to live in Hertfordshire and share our passion for the local countryside.
