City of Chelmsford Mencap is a small independent charity providing support and structured classes for adults with a learning disability across mid-Essex. We have recently converted the charity's structure and are now embarking on an exciting period of strategic growth. We are seeking energetic and passionate new trustees who can contribute to our plans and help us deliver the next phase of our operating model.

Much has changed since our founders started the charity over 50 years ago. We have grown enormously, and we know that there is still much to do.

Today, we employ over 400 people across the South of England, and our future plans include a programme of engagement with organisations to share the benefits of employing autistic people as well as expansion of our autism and SEN college, Futures.
We want to show to the outside world that we are accessible and relevant to the autistic community, particularly those audiences or organisations which we may not have reached until now.

Northern Consortium is a unique educational charity, founded in 1987 by a group of Northern UK universities to support the advancement of education. Circles South East, based in Oxfordshire, is an award-winning charity which works to reduce the impact and instances of sexual harm through prevention, rehabilitation, education and safeguarding.
We have a long record of working within the field of reducing impact of sexual harm. We work with Survivors and others impacted by sexual violence to help them heal and perpetrators to help them to avoid re-offending.
We are organisational members of the BACP, and take referrals from organisations such as Victim Support, Children’s and Social Services, Rape Crisis, Probation Victim Liaison Units, GP Surgeries etc as well as from potential clients themselves.
Volunteers are at the core of what we do, and operate across all aspects of our work.
What will you be doing?
Trustees ensure their charity has a clear strategy and that all decisions put the needs of the service users first. They safeguard the charity’s assets – both physical assets, including property, and intangible ones, such as its reputation. They make sure these are used well and that the charity is run sustainably. They hold the CEO to account and provide support and encouragement to them and the team. West London Centre for Counselling is a registered charity that has been delivering high quality, free, confidential counselling to the local community in Hammersmith and Fulham for over 30 years. We are currently contracted by the NHS Talking Therapies service in Hammersmith and Fulham to deliver short-term therapeutic interventions of 12-20 weeks to people with mild to moderate mental health conditions. All clients receive an assessment before starting treatment, and we assess over 1,000 clients each year.

Is a registered charity, working both locally in Sussex and nationwide with the purpose of providing advice, counsel, support, and assistance to everyone finding it difficult to manage their financial affairs because of poverty, old age, disability or economic abuse.
MAP is a specialist debt and money advice charity. Our vision is for everyone to have the advice and support they need to manage their own money effectively. - Increase benefit income by £1,562,348 (£1,963,310)
- Secure one-off payments of benefits of at least £280,204 (£400,829)
- Secured £116,782 in Discretionary Housing Payments
- Obtain charitable grants and refunds and compensation of £503,357 (£423,019)
- Insolvency amounting to £596,373.
- Debt write-off (not insolvency) £1,011,427. This includes £868,843 for victim-survivors £178,784 using our innovative Economic Abuse Evidence Form that is currently piloted by several major banks, debt purchasing and utility companies.
- Negotiated with creditors to reduce client payments of £46,345 (£47,873) per year.
Altogether with charitable payments and other financial outcomes, our clients were better off by a total of £4,375,104 (£4,474,556) per year, an average of £1634 (£938) per client. or £3.17 (£3.50) for every £1 spent on our service.
Money Handling service
- 424 (438) people received a money-handling service, primarily in Brighton and East Sussex.
- £5,329,122 (£4,892,00) of clients’ money was handled. This comprises clients’ income received and used to fulfil their weekly and monthly budget requirements, pay bills and debts, and provide weekly cash.

Open Up Music is an organisation with a simple but powerful mission: to open up music to young disabled musicians. We work alongside those young people to tackle musical inequality - inspiring new instruments and creating new musical forms for the 21st century. We are looking to recruit trustees to help support the organisation through its next, exciting stage of development.
This academic year, we are providing accessible musical progression opportunities to over 600 of the most marginalised young musicians in the UK. We do this through our award-winning programmes, including Open Orchestras (the largest network of inclusive ensembles in the UK) and the National Open Youth Orchestra (the world’s first disabled-led national youth ensemble). Over the next 5 years, in partnership with some of the UK’s leading arts and cultural organisations, we have plans to increase the scale and geographic range of our programmes.

The Microbiology Society is a Company Limited by Guarantee and a Registered Charity. Oasis Community Housing (part of the wider Oasis Charitable Group) is a Christian homelessness charity with 40 years’ experience of delivering bespoke, effective services for vulnerably housed and people experiencing homelessness.
We exist to reignite a hope and a future for everyone facing homelessness. We believe that anyone’s life can be transformed however dark things may seem.
We run supported accommodation programmes in the North-East and London for young people, particularly young women and mums facing homelessness for a variety of reasons. We also run drop-in crisis centres providing emergency housing on a ‘housing first, no questions asked basis’, a warm shower, food, clothing and access to advice. Additionally we run a programme to help victims of domestic abuse and sexual violence to break the cycle of abusive relationships.
The last 3 years have been tumultuous and challenging for us all due to the enduring legacy of the Covid-19 pandemic. Over this period we have been stretched and tested across the range of our work. But in the testing, our passion for our mission and ability to innovate and be agile have shone through.
In spite of the challenges of the last 4 years we have seen a 41% increase in unrestricted donations over the last two years.
This is an exciting time to consider joining Oasis Community Housing.
We are now looking for two or more Trustees. The priority areas we are seeking to cover include:
Finance – with strategic financial leadership experience in order to ensure effective oversight and risk management at a governance level.
Property/Facilities Management/Planning – with experience of lease agreements, property licensing and planning regulations.
Whilst these are priority skill areas we would also be open to considering candidates from other professional backgrounds too.
Are you passionate about the power of the arts to bridge generations and create meaningful change? Do you want to play a vital role in guiding a charity at the heart of the East London community?
Magic Me is looking for new trustees to join our Board and help us continue our work creating connections between generations through creative arts. This is a voluntary role, and we welcome individuals from all walks of life, particularly those from racially minoritized backgrounds, people under 30 or over 50, and those with lived experience in East London.

- Be part of something bigger: Work alongside fellow trustees and staff to challenge ageism, promote creativity, and create lasting change through intergenerational projects.
No previous trustee experience is required, as we offer full support, training, and mentorship for first-time trustees through our ‘Board Buddy’ system.
We are looking for trustees with:
- Skills in project/programme management, fundraising or the creative arts: Whether you are a creative practitioner, artist, or have experience in managing projects or fundraising, your expertise can help us enhance our creative arts programmes and reach more communities.
- A passion for our vision: We need individuals who are committed to our values and our vision of creating a world without ageism, where everyone can enjoy their unique creativity and full potential.
As part of your responsibilities, we’ll be asking that you form a new Creative Strategy Committee to provide guidance and support for the development of our arts projects, ensuring that the voices of our participants are heard at the highest level of governance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Governance and oversight: Ensure Magic Me operates for public benefit and aligns with its charitable objectives.
- Financial stewardship: Help ensure our resources are used effectively and participate in discussions on budgets and financial statements.
- Ambassadorial role: Promote Magic Me’s work to external stakeholders, enhancing our public profile.
Time Commitment & Location:
- Time Commitment: Approximately half a day per month, including quarterly Board meetings and sub-committee participation.
- Location: Board meetings take place in person in Bethnal Green, London. Committee meetings are held online.
