St John Ambulance Cymru (SJAC) is an independent Priory within the Order of St John. We are a working Order of Chivalry of the British Crown with His Majesty the King as its Sovereign Head, which is accredited to the United Nations. We are Wales’ leading first aid charity. Our new 2025-2030 Strategy has the mission of “Wales as a Community of Lifesavers”.In order to do this we have 4 strategic objectives:

1. Experience: We want to be the best volunteering offer in Wales. We want our St John people to have the best experience, training, leadership, and equipment.

2. Maximising the potential of our Children and Young People.

3. Increasing our focus on Community Education.

We work closely with NHS Wales and the Welsh Ambulance Service University Trust (WASUT), We provide on-site first aid and medical services at events across Wales from local events in your community to international sporting and cultural events. In order to do this we have around 2000 St John People, a mixture of employees and volunteers as well as around 800 Children and Young People.

The opportunity

SJAC has ambitious plans in place and a new strategy. We are seeking two trustees to join our board, one of which we require to have a fundraising background and expertise.

General – You will be a passionate individual to join our board, with experience in a relevant field for our mission.

Within the role you will be helping, supporting and guiding us on our journey, willing to be a strong advocate for the charity and having the skills and expertise to steer the charity towards achieving our strategic priorities. You will also of course live our values of Compassion, Quality, Inclusion and Integrity.

Anvil Arts creates a year-round programme encompassing the best in music, performance, cultural education, arts participation, and outreach work. Since opening in 1994, they have sold over 5,000,000 tickets and brought audiences to Basingstoke from as far afield as Argentina, Iceland, Canada, and Japan. 

They are now seeking to appoint new Trustees. Experienced and committed individuals are sought to join and expand the Board, supporting the implementation of the organisation’s ambitious plans and to make a major contribution to the future success of the organisation.

A successful candidate must be able to demonstrate the following:

• A commitment to Anvil Arts and its objectives, and a willingness to devote the necessary time and effort to the duties of a trustee.
• Previous experience as a trustee is desired although not essential.
• Finance: Post-qualification membership of a recognised professional accountancy body (e.g. ACCA or CIMA) or qualified by experience
• Fundraising: Fundraising experience, ideally with exposure to fundraising in the arts and culture sector
• Community Engagement: Experience of serving in a role focused on community engagement, participation, or outreach
• Commercial Arts: Substantial commercial experience at the executive level running either an artistic programme or the commercial aspects of a venue at a similar scale. Ideally someone with broad programme experience

We are seeking strategic and creative individuals, with good communication and interpersonal skills, tact, and diplomacy, who can serve the Board with integrity, fairness, and independent judgement. 4 Board meetings are held annually, which are a mix of in-person and virtual, plus an Away Day and opportunities to support and attend events. Trustees can serve for three years, with the option to remain on for a second term.

Our Board of Trustees play a vital role in making sure that WORTH achieves its core purpose. They oversee the overall management, administration and governance of the charity. Trustee Duties:

• Support and provide advice on WORTH's purpose, vision, goals and activities.

Good Vibrations is a national arts organisation that changes lives through music. We are looking for new people to join our Board of Trustees as two members are reaching the end of their tenure. This is a very rewarding voluntary position with an ambitious charity.

We are looking for people with experience of one (or more) of the following areas:

• Lived experience of challenging circumstances / complex needs
• The arts / music in particular
• Fundraising
• Law
• The Criminal Justice System
• Business development
• Financial management
• Strategy

In particular we are looking for a treasurer to help provide strategic financial oversight, ensuring the charity’s financial stability and compliance with regulatory requirements. As a trustee, the Treasurer will work closely with the Board, CEO, Head of Delivery, and any finance-related professional advisors to support decision-making and financial planning. 

This is a voluntary governance role for which your travel expenses would be covered. Trustees are asked to commit to attending 4 meetings (in the evenings) and 1 strategic development day a year. They are also asked for help by sharing their skills on developmental projects. We are particularly interested in people who have experienced the issues participants of our courses have experienced.

About the roles

The role of a Trustee is pivotal in ensuring we respond to any sector challenges such as post 16 funding and curriculum reviews, the new QAA Access to HE license process and policy reforms, whilst safeguarding our award-winning reputation for quality and customer service.

We also need to ensure that we remain compliant with our regulatory bodies, including the Charity Commission, Ofqual, QiW, the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA), and Companies House, while also spearheading innovative initiatives that empower learners and apprentices to attain qualifications, advance their career prospects, and transform their lives.

As a Trustee, you will collaborate closely with our executive team to further the organisation’s mission to support all learners to acquire the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in life.

Gateway does this by providing qualifications and assessment opportunities sought by employers and delivered by education and training providers.

Your wealth of skills and experience will play a crucial role in realising our strategic direction, with a heightened emphasis on product innovation, modernisation through technology and system improvements, and maintaining quality and customer focus through periods of policy and sector reforms.

This will allow us to lead national efforts in skill development and position Gateway Qualifications as a leading voice in education that works closely with providers and employers.

Since the start of our operations in 2016, The Edgard & Cooper Foundation has worked hard to reach its full potential but we need your help. We see the need to bring a new Trustee to the Board, with a background in legal or governance and animal welfare to help us continuously improve and further our impact.

Edgard & Cooper and the Foundation

The Edgard & Cooper Foundation operates as a distinct and independent entity from Edgard & Cooper, the pet food brand. While both share a deep commitment to improving the lives of dogs and cats, the Foundation is solely dedicated to philanthropic efforts, focusing on funding impactful animal welfare initiatives worldwide. Since our inception, we have provided financial support to 22 projects in 16 countries, with a total funding commitment of €3,303,869. In 2024, we donated €770,000 to partners addressing animal welfare, education, and legal protection.

Person Specification

It’s essential to us that all persons involved with The Edgard & Cooper Foundation in any capacity have a genuine passion for the welfare of all animals, and fully support our mission and values.
We are seeking a Trustee with expertise and experience in:

• Animal welfare issues faced by dogs and cats, and their possible solutions locally and globally, to enhance impact.
• Legal, compliance, and risk management to ensure strong charitable governance.
• Previous Board Trustee experience, ideally within animal welfare philanthropy or related causes.

Trustee Responsibilities

• Developing and upholding the mission and values of The Edgard & Cooper Foundation.
• Strategic input on our Theory of Change model and setting our goals and key priorities.
• Expert input on decision-making and evaluation of partners and grant-making activities.
• Ensuring legal, compliance, and risk management best practices are integrated into all Foundation activities.
• Reviewing budgets and statutory annual accounts, as well as reviewing and developing all internal processes; financial, operational and otherwise.
• Reviewing and development of external communications when required.
• Supporting the Foundation team with expertise and critical advice.
• Review of organisational structure, including advice and decision-making on new Board members and succession.
• Acting as an ambassador for The Edgard & Cooper Foundation and paying keen attention to any organisations we fund through grant-making.
