Refugee Action Kingston (RAK) is an independent charity dedicated to helping the successful integration of refugees and people seeking asylum into the local community. With over three decades of experience, we provide a holistic service which includes advice on welfare, benefits, and immigration, alongside education, counselling, and career guidance.
In 2023/24 we supported 2,036 people:
- 1,171 clients accessed advice and advocacy services, including immigration advice
- 305 accessed ESOL classes
- 250 children supported through after school and family support services
- 61 people supported through our counselling service
This is an exciting time to join RAK at the start of the new fundraising strategy for 2024-2028. RAK currently has a successful grant fundraising programme through a selection of statutory bodies, trusts and foundations, and recognises the need - and opportunity - to broaden and diversify its income generation streams. We are looking for a fundraiser to build on existing strengths within the organisation to broaden our income stream through corporate support, individual giving, major donors and social media fundraising campaigns alongside maintaining and developing our trusts and foundations funding.
Our new Director, Elli Free, has 25 years’ experience supporting people seeking asylum and substantial fundraising experience. Elli is looking forward to working collaboratively with the new Fundraising Manager to ensure RAK sustains its work in Kingston and reaches into neighbouring boroughs.

Purpose of the role
As Fundraising Manager, you will lead the fundraising functions of the charity to generate income, meet organisational targets, and ensure development opportunities are effectively maximised. Working with the Director and programme teams, you will develop and write competitive bids, growing capacity and securing income for 24/25 and beyond. We are focused on multi-year bids and opportunities that deliver the best outcomes for our client community. As a client-led organisation, we strive to meet the needs of our clients and deliver impact-focused programmes.
The Fundraising Manager will have proven experience of successful grant writing and demonstrate a track record of fundraising achievements across multiple income streams.
Main areas of accountability
Fundraising - general
- Writing and submitting bids, tenders and proposals to ensure income targets are met in line with performance objectives
- Responsibility for the development and the implementation of RAK’s fundraising strategy, in line with organisational strategy and resources
- Providing stewardship to existing donors and supporters to maximise income and ensure long-term funding relationships
- Contributing to the monitoring and evaluation of the impact of the services provided at RAK
Trusts and Foundations, Statutory Funding
- Securing regular income by producing and submitting appealing fundraising applications to trusts and foundations as well as statutory funding
- Researching, monitoring, and identifying new funding opportunities for the development of existing or new services and organisational capacity
- Reporting to funders in line with funding criteria, objectives and the specified outcomes conditional to the funding
Individual Giving
- Ensuring that donations are acknowledged in an appropriate and timely manner in line with the stewardship policy
- Managing the charity’s supporter database and online donations
- Developing an excellent supporters’ journey via digital means and channels
- Preparing appealing fundraising campaigns and cases for support to the general public
- Working with the Partnership and Digital Marketing Co-ordinator to maximise income from social media channels and other digital channels
- Keeping up to date with professional best practice and recent trends, identifying developments that impact the organisation, and sharing knowledge appropriately across teams and departments
Corporate Giving
- Leading the expansion of RAK’s corporate giving initiatives, identifying and developing opportunities for engagement, and achieving the corporate income target
- Managing the Partnership and Digital Marketing Coordinator, whose primary focus is on corporate giving

What you’ll bring to the team
In this role, you will be pivotal in shaping and executing Animal Trust's earned media plan. We aim to raise our brand profile nationally with consumers and within the veterinary industry.
As part of a small team, reporting to the Brand Manager, you will primarily deliver activity that generates on-brand coverage across all media in the veterinary industry. We also need to raise consumer awareness via the appropriate media.

About the position….
- The core tasks of a Night Care Worker include attending to the needs of the children and young adults during the night, some of which have complex health conditions, domestic duties and appropriate record keeping in accordance with legislation and regulation. Another member of staff will sleep in the unit and can be disturbed if there is an emergency.
- The Night Care Worker role is varied and, in many instances, unpredictable. All staff are therefore expected to work in a flexible way.

We’re looking for an experienced Social Media Manager who can bring together words and pictures to tell social stories and help inspire one million people to take action to protect, restore and create bigger, better, more connected wetlands.
This role will develop channel strategies and lead the content planning across our national social accounts, working with teams across WWT to seek out engaging stories and bring them to life for our online audiences. This is a really exciting opportunity to use your creative skills to create compelling content and develop our voice on social to make a real difference for nature, to speak up for wetlands and wildlife, and inspire new and existing audience with our messages.
We’re an organisation of action, running multiple conservation projects and networks in the UK and around the world, as well as our own 10 wetland visitor centres in the UK. This hands-on role requires an ability to take often complex messaging and bring it to life through impactful and dynamic social content. You’ll help us reach new audiences on different channels, champion best practice with our staff and volunteers and build our profile online.
About You
We're looking for:
- Experience in delivering successful social channel strategies designed to reach a diverse range of audiences and build understanding and brand awareness.
- A track record of leading the development and delivery of creative content plans across multiple social platforms.
- An engaging and confident writer with creative flair, able to seek out and tell stories that raise an organisation’s profile and drive action for a cause.
- A willingness to innovate, try new ideas and play with our new brand to reach new audiences across our social channels.
- Someone who enjoys building relationships with a range of levels and stakeholders and is comfortable championing social media best practice at an organisational level.
- Experience in planning, producing and evaluating social content designed to support the achievement of organisation objectives.
- An individual who is organised and able to manage competing priorities while remaining calm in a busy working environment.

Purpose of Role:
· To provide expert advice and advocacy to victims of stalking.
· To provide guidance and support by telephone, email and face-to-face to those affected by stalking.
· To provide casework support and advocacy to victims of stalking, liaising with both voluntary and statutory services to ensure positive outcomes for victims.
· To support the operational Team Leaders where required.

Purpose:

The IT Systems Coordinator will be responsible for the support and maintenance of ARC’s IT systems and infrastructure; for the support of ARC staff, volunteers and other stakeholders using the technology; for identifying potential improvements; and for the implementation of agreed changes. The role involves hybrid working and is for 35 hours per week.
You will work with clients (managing a caseload) who have mental health support needs, to assist them in progressing towards their employment goals. The role:
This is an exciting opportunity to play a crucial role in our fast-growing Fundraising Team, and leading our new business efforts by identifying, cultivating and securing new corporate partnerships at the six and seven-figure level as well as playing an active part in the wider team’s endeavours to secure and uplift our corporate partnerships.

· Proactively approach and build new relationships with corporates, securing and attending meetings.
