We have a fantastic opening for a Head of Philanthropy to join CARE International UK. The Head of Philanthropy is an exciting newly created role which is responsible for launching a philanthropic fundraising function within the existing Fundraising and Communications Team. This is an important leadership position which will work closely with the Chief Executive, the Board and influencers. You will report into the Director of Fundraising and Communication and will line manage a team of two. You’ll need to be comfortable operating at a senior, strategic level, as well as rolling up your sleeves and kick-starting the major giving programme.

You will be given a lot of freedom to shape the programme and will be a key leader supporting the development of the future fundraising strategy. To be successful in the Head of Philanthropy role you will need experience in: 

• Creating and implementing a successful and sustainable philanthropic fundraising strategy, working with trusts and foundations and major donors

Choirs Beating Time runs weekly choir year-round in 9 prisons, building positive communities and improving mental health and inclusion. Over 1000 people have sung with us in the last 10 years. Recognising the huge barriers people who have served a sentence face to re-entering the workplace, we realised a specialized service was needed. A service which collapses the space between Employers, who want to use their recruitment policies to achieve social impact, and people who are serving/ have served a prison sentence.  A service which understands those challenges and works collaboratively to remove them. Employment reduces reoffending by 50% - this is a job worth doing.

About the role

This is a new role that has been created to sit within our London office, working closely with the senior management team as well as our community team. You will get the opportunity to visit our prisons and see first hand how we work, what we do and why it is so important.

Our funding comes from several sources including from Trusts and Foundations, and prison contracts and donations. We are looking for somebody who can continue to build strong relationships with our funders but also find and develop new funding opportunities to help grow and maximise our income.

We will offer extensive training and will fully immerse the right candidate into every aspect of our charity. This role will also strongly link in with the planning and delivery of our strategy and policies.

We are recruiting for an experienced senior HR professional to take ownership of all UK HR functions within the organisation, building on the structures already in place to ensure we are a supportive and dynamic place to work.

We train specialist dogs to detect the odour of human disease, providing life-saving alert assistance dogs to people with complex health problems across the UK and collaborating with NHS Trusts and other researchers and Universities both in the UK and internationally to advance the early diagnosis of disease.

The Job

We are a charity that punches above its weight.  We receive no statutory funding and rely on the generosity of our many volunteers and supporters who raise awareness of our work and much needed funds.  The main purpose of this role will be to support the Community and Events Manager to develop local volunteer groups with the aim of increasing both awareness of the charity’s life-saving work and local fundraising. Other activities and administrative tasks across our key fundraising areas will also form part of the role.

• Support the Region 5 volunteers in conjunction with the Community Fundraising Team
• Represent and promote the charity at external events within the Region 5 geography including some evenings and weekends.
• Assist the Individual Giving Manager with the fulfilment of supporter communications including thank you letters and fulfillment of the Sponsor A Puppy Programme.
• Co-ordinate general fundraising enquiries and action accordingly offering exceptional customer service

Main Duties and Responsibilities

As our Alumni Relations Lead you will:

• Develop and maintain an ongoing dialogue with our alumni community through focus groups and research to reach a clear understanding of what they want and need from us, including the differences between Sixth Form and apprentice alumni.
• Undertake regular data collection cycles to track the current employment and needs of our current and future alumni. This will include but is not limited to using surveys  and research. Develop a systematic approach to holding data (including data protection) and CRM.

As a Youth & Mentor Facilitator, you will play a crucial role in creating safe and engaging environments for young people to learn, grow, and thrive. Your responsibilities include leading BelEve workshops, activities, and discussions that promote skill development, personal growth, and positive social interaction among young people within our community.

Reporting to the Programme Officer you will serve as a mentor and role model, offering guidance, support, and encouragement to help young people navigate challenges and reach their full potential. Additionally, you will collaborate with colleagues, community partners, and stakeholders to design and implement effective programmes that address the unique needs and interests of the youth demographic. Through your passion for youth development and commitment to empowerment, you will make a meaningful impact on the lives of the next generation.

The duties listed below all feed into a business development objective with the aim of reaching more schools & participants, attract new funders, build brand equity, grow portfolio of current offerings to reach both financial and impact goals detailed in the 5 year strategy and beyond.

Your responsibilities will include:

1. Facilitate BelEve Programmes

Lead or assist in leading various programmes, workshops, or activities designed for the young people with our community. These could include educational sessions, recreational activities, skill-building workshops, or support groups.

2. Engaging Youth Participants

Create a welcoming and inclusive environment where young people feel comfortable expressing themselves and participating actively. Encourage engagement, participation, and collaboration among youth participants.

3. Providing Guidance and Support

Offer guidance and support to youth participants, both individually and in groups. Listen to their concerns, offer advice, and provide resources or referrals as needed. Able to foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where girls feel empowered to express themselves and build positive relationships.

4. Mentoring

Keen advocate in mentoring youth participants. Build positive relationships with youth participants, providing guidance, support, and advocacy.

5. Developing BelEve Programme Content

Collaborate with other staff members to develop programme content and curriculum that aligns with the needs and interests of the youth demographic.

Adapt materials and activities to suit different age groups and learning styles.

6. Implementing BelEve Safeguarding Policy

Enforce and implement Safeguarding across all BelEve programmes to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants. Address any behavioural issues or conflicts that arise in a fair and respectful manner.

7. Building Relationships

Establish positive relationships with the young people within our community, their families, and the wider community. Foster trust and rapport to create a supportive network for young people.

8. Report & Evaluation of BelEve Programmes

Assess the impact and effectiveness of our programmes through participant feedback, observation, and evaluation metrics. Use this information to make improvements and adjustments as necessary.

9. Collaborating with Stakeholders

Work closely with other youth workers, volunteers, partner organisations, schools, and community leaders to coordinate activities and resources for youth development.

10. Maintaining Records

Maintain clear & concise session notes, keep accurate records of programme attendance, participant demographics, and any incidents or concerns that arise. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and reporting requirements.

11. Professional Development

Stay informed about best practices, trends, and developments in youth work and related fields. Seek out opportunities for professional development and training to enhance skills and knowledge.

12. Advocacy

Support and advocate for the needs and rights of young people within BelEve and the broader community. Raise awareness about issues affecting youth and work towards positive change.

As the Database & Impact Manager, you will play a crucial role in managing, customising, and optimising their case management software, Microsoft Dynamics. You will work closely with stakeholders, including Pragmatiq, the University of Birmingham, and Trust Impact, to enhance data capabilities and build data maturity across their network.

Key Responsibilities:

* Database Development & Management: Design, develop, and maintain Microsoft Dynamics for women's centres. Lead on requirements gathering and improvements to enhance functionality and user experience.

* Compliance & Best Practices: Ensure compliance with GDPR and data retention policies. Lead the annual IT audit for Microsoft Dynamics.
* National Travel: Occasional travel to women's centres and other locations across the UK (estimated two days a month).

We are seeking a dynamic individual with extensive experience in database administration and development, particularly focusing on case management systems. You should demonstrate a strong passion for justice and rights, coupled with exceptional communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

This involves:

* Proven track record in successfully delivering complex projects.
* Experience in creating and delivering training materials for diverse stakeholders.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics and Power BI is highly desirable, but we can consider experience with similar software.

Senior Programme Officer, In2STEM

In2scienceUK’s aim is to promote social mobility and diversity in science, technology, engineering and maths. We do this by leveraging the skills and passion of researchers and STEM professionals to support young people from low socio-economic backgrounds to achieve their potential and progress to careers in STEM.

The In2STEM programme is a fantastic opportunity for 16-19 year olds to gain insights directly from STEM industry and research professionals. The programme provides over a thousand students each summer with a blend of online and in-person activities, equipping participants with the skills, knowledge and confidence needed to excel in STEM. 

What we are looking for

We are excited to be recruiting a Senior Programme Officer to join our growing In2STEM Programme team. The focus of this role will be to support delivery and ensure that our young people have an exceptional experience on the programme. You will also be kept engaged through deputising for the In2STEM Programme Manager one day per week.

You will have a good understanding of the challenges today’s young people from less privileged backgrounds may face and bring a proven track record of supporting vulnerable young people and/or adults with a range of support needs, including mental health needs, learning difficulties and disabilities. You will be good at building trust and rapport with young people and have practical experience of appropriately, calmly navigating situations involving safeguarding and signposting for young people and adults.

Duties and responsibilities

The purpose of the Senior Programme Officer role is to support the successful delivery of the In2STEM Programme and ensure our young people have an excellent experience.

Your specific duties will include:

Programme Delivery

• Managing a caseload of students and volunteers from application stage to successful completion of the programme, including recruitment, placement matching, onboarding, event planning and programme delivery (in-person and online), troubleshooting throughout the programme and evaluation.

• Where appropriate, supporting the Programme Manager as the first port of call for programme staff with enquiries or needing advice relating to pastoral care for our beneficiaries.

• Developing and maintaining excellent working relationships with partners and funders to further the delivery of our work. This will include for example, working with schools, colleges, academic and professional services staff at universities.

• Creating and developing engaging resources to support the programme including video presentations, posters/flyers, case studies and website text and images.

• Monitoring student and volunteer applications to ensure targets and milestones are met.

• Maintaining up to date records via the programme database and ensuring data protection.

• Ensuring all operations are in line with Health and Safety and Safeguarding policies and procedures.

Evaluation

• Developing programme activities, using student and volunteer evaluation data and staff insights.

• Optimising systems, processes and ways of working, to ensure delivery models are scalable and achieve intended outputs and outcomes to the highest degree of quality, effectiveness, and efficiency.

• Maintaining a comprehensive overview of programme activities, among both staff and partners, and reporting on progress at regular intervals as defined internally and contractually.

• Supporting team members to create evaluation and student data reports.

• Supporting the creation and dissemination of case studies, working closely with the fundraising team to ensure funder requirements are met.

Deputy Managing

• Managing the In2STEM team when the Programme Manager is not working, including preparing and running programme update meetings from time to time.

• Supporting and assisting the Programme Manager to ensure organisational and delivery targets are achieved.

Person Specification:

Essential

• Track record of experience directly supporting vulnerable young people and/or adults with a range of support needs, including mental health needs, learning difficulties and disabilities, facilitating access to other support services as needed.

• An understanding of the social and economic barriers that prevent some young people accessing STEM careers and an ability to recognise the importance of diversity and inclusion in STEM.

• Knowledge and understanding of the STEM sector, including higher education, apprenticeships and STEM careers.

• Experience of delivering projects for young people including recruitment and caseload working.

• Experience developing and maintaining strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders at various levels.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong presentation skills and an ability to adapt to a range of audiences.

• Good understanding of safeguarding in practice when working with young people.

• Flexible and adaptable, with an ability to pick up new tasks quickly and keep a level head when faced with challenges.

• Knowledge, understanding or experience of programme or project evaluation.
