Job summary

The Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (RSTMH) is a Society of over 1,700 members from 100 countries, who work in, or are interested in tropical medicine and global health.

RSTMH organises and participates in events as a crucial way of showcasing, discussing, and debating key areas of tropical medicine and global health research and practice. Our range of events are wide. We deliver conferences and webinars, social events, research meetings for early career professionals, and high-profile debates and discussions. They happen across the UK and around the world, both online and in person. Our events add to the impact of our work in tropical medicine and global health, but also raise funds to allow us to continue our work as a charity.

The Meetings and Events Manager would lead on the delivery of the RSTMH meeting and events strategy. The role requires a self-starter who is excited by the prospect of working on such a broad range of meetings and events. The candidate needs to have excellent communication and relationship building skills, and to be organised, flexible with a great attention to detail. They should be comfortable liaising with venues for meetings space, developing budgets for events, managing logistical aspects of the events programme and setting up new events online and in person.

Main responsibilities

• Overall responsibility for the meetings and events programme meeting its financial and other goals and KPIs under the existing strategy
• Overall responsibility for the delivery of the events with a focus on expanding global reach, supporting careers, and improving the financial position
• Manage events from conception to completion - delivering events to the highest standard to meet their objectives of success – quality and cost effectiveness
• Attend the Meetings and Events Committee, optimising meetings including helping set the agendas, leading discussions, writing minutes, liaising with the Chair
• Assist to identify, appoint, and manage Scientific Chairs, Committees, and Sub Committees to secure event speakers, secure attendees and sponsors.
• Overall management of the income being delivered from ticket sales, sponsorship and other income streams linked to meetings and events, with support from line manager and CEO
• Responsible for the income and expenditure budgets and monthly reforecasts for our meetings and events, and ensuring accurate financial record keeping
• Support and train colleagues to run meetings and events online.
• Work with the team to develop all event materials – physical and digital
• Work with CEO and Senior Manager to identify sponsors, develop proposals and negotiate income
• Produce comprehensive event briefings for speakers, team, and Board
• Support and attend events, sometimes out of office hours, in and out of the UK
• Evaluate and report on the success of each event and consider areas of improvement
• Ensure up to date event information is publicised on the website and on other RSTMH channels
• Work with the team at RSTMH to develop and implement a marketing plan for events
• Manage all event enquiries, from external and internal stakeholders
• Liaise with and manage relationships with event stakeholders internally and externally, including suppliers, members, committees, Board, speakers, sponsors, exhibitors
• Work with the Membership Manager to maximise the engagement of event attendees in RSTMH’s work, and conversion of events attendees to be members
• Develop processes to ensure we capture all data from events, through our CRM
• Ensure efficient processes exist for ticket sales, paying expenses and invoices and all other aspects of RSTMH meetings and events.

A new Director of Fundraising is sought to provide inspiring leadership to the fundraising function of Weston Hospicecare, implementing a fundraising strategy that will build voluntary income from its current level of £2 million per annum to provide long-term and sustainable income sources for the Hospice. Job Purpose

To manage the site of Ada’s London Victoria campus, 1 Sutherland Street, so that it is operating safely and efficiently. This involves liaising with contractors and suppliers to plan, coordinate and implement the inspection, maintenance and repair of the internal and external fabric of the building and any machinery or plant within the building. To be responsible for the Health and Safety compliance of the site and oversee the security of the premises to provide a safe and secure environment for all learners, staff and visitors.

Main duties and responsibilities

Facilities management

• Manage the opening and closing of the College for normal hours of operation
• For out of hours College events or venue hire, arrange for the opening and closing of the building and necessary services (heating, cleaning, equipment etc). Liaise with the wider premises team for cover arrangements for these out of hours events.
• Be the principal registered Key Holder, attend call outs and take appropriate action, put in place arrangements for dealing with emergencies which occur outside normal working hours.
• Work with the Head of Premises, and wider premises team, to put in place cost effective facilities management and cleaning contracts for the building and manage those contracts on an ongoing basis.
• Coordinate and implement routine inspections, repairs, redecoration/refurbishments of the College building, equipment and external environment, including annual, monthly, weekly and daily inspections.
• Investigate and report site issues promptly, providing possible solutions, obtaining quotes and initiating repair / maintenance
• Manage and supervise any building contractors undertaking work on the College’s premises. Ensure that any issues with contractors are promptly followed up.
• Work with the appropriate contractors to operate and maintain the building’s systems (e.g. heating and ventilation systems) to an effective standard
• Carry out minor repairs and practical jobs where this is within your expertise
• Plan and manage all room preparation requests for College events such as assemblies, meetings, industry projects/speakers and events and ensure that they are actioned in a timely manner.
• Establish and implement a key identification and management system for access to all College areas.
• Maintain inventories of College equipment (excluding IT equipment) including plant equipment

Security and Health and Safety

• Support the annual health and safety audit and ensure that routine health and safety checks are carried out and results recorded including:
  • portable electrical equipment
  • water risk assessment
  • fire risk assessment
  • fire call points and fire fighting devices
  • intruder alarms
  • emergency lighting
  • CCTV systems and warning alarms
• Ensure that health and safety regulations are complied with, including all necessary H&S signage, regularly reviewing the College’s procedures and ensuring that they are compliant.
• Implement Health & Safety Policy at all times, review and assess at regular intervals or as the situation or legislation changes.
• Responsible for site security from the start to the end of the College day including daily inspection of the site, monitoring CCTV activity and retrieving data when required.
• Ensure that appropriate areas are gritted or salted during adverse weather conditions and provide safe access to the College in the event of snow, ice or flooding.
• Be the College representative for the Police Liaison Officer

Other general duties

• Working closely with the Facilities Manager in our Manchester campus and wider Premises colleagues, ensure processes and procedures remain aligned across both sites.
• Remain contactable whilst on duty
• Monitor energy use, water consumption and waste and suggest improvements to support our sustainability agenda.
• Ensure that prior to going on leave, a full handover of keys and duties is given to the nominated cover person and handover upon return from leave.
• To maintain manual and computerised logs of work undertaken, records and information as necessary.

We are looking for the right person to lead the evolution of CALP’s fundraising. The role combines strategic leadership, internal and external coordination, and lots of hands-on development of funding applications, reports and much more. It's a pivotal role, helping to ensure the financial sustainability of CALP.

The role holder will manage and cultivate strong relationships with donors and members of the network, including the funding teams in our host organisations through whom funding flows. They will lead in identifying new funding opportunities and sustaining effective relationships with existing donors. This includes the development of consistently high-quality proposals and reports, whilst also ensuring compliance with contractual requirements. The role involves work across the whole CALP team, serving as an expert for CALP on strategic fundraising and donor relations.

Working as part of a globally dispersed team, this position is UK based and open to applicants with existing right to work in the UK. The role can be home based anywhere in the UK or work from an office in Oxford.

The Role:

The Donor Relations Manager leads and develops CALP’s fundraising strategy and activities to enable CALP to finance its overall strategy. The role holder manages and cultivates healthy relationships with donors and network members, and shares compliance responsibilities depending on contractual requirements.

This role has strong inter-relations within realms of strategy, programmes, operations, planning and monitoring, and serves as an expert for the CALP team on strategic fundraising and donor relations.

Key Accountabilities

• Share whole team leadership as a manager
• Strategically lead CALP’s fundraising vision, approach, strategy and plans; build partnerships and broker relations with current and new donors as part of CALP’s longer-term fundraising ambitions.
• Develop the long-term funding vision and strategy, and develop and lead its implementation to ensure funding of CALP’s plans now and in the future
• Research and prospect for new donors and funding streams.
• Engage at the strategic level in proposal development and reporting; plus carry out operational work in terms of reviewing and editing proposals and reports
• Represent and manage CALP’s relationships (from a funding perspective) with donors
• Work with CALP grant managers and the Operations Team to ensure understanding of compliance as per grant agreements; communicate with donors to clarify any compliance queries
• Manage the funding relationships with host agencies
• Coordinate overall funding across grants
• Provide quality assurance of funding proposals and reports and ensure compliance with donor agreements
• Provide management support for and foster personal development of the Donor Relations Officer
• Accountable for CALP’s reputation with donors from a funding perspective

Essential Technical Skills, Experience & Knowledge

• Degree or equivalent qualification in an appropriate technical field, or equivalent level of professional experience.
• Significant, proven experience of generating substantial funding including proven ability to develop funding strategies, plan effectively and deliver complex funding applications and donor reports.
• High level experience and knowledge of key humanitarian and development donors such as: ECHO, BHA/USAID, GFFO, FCDO and European government donors.
• Knowledge and experience of working with consortium-based funding.
• Proven strategic design and management skills including good programme development ability and proven knowledge of M&E at project and programme levels.
• Significant experience with budgeting, financial reporting, including managing and reporting on complex programme budgets.
• Ability to develop and manage complex relationships.
• Proven experience of funding management systems/databases.
• Very strong conceptual and analytical skills, including excellent facilitation, negotiation, and influencing skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English - report writing, and presentation skills, including the ability to present complex issues clearly and concisely and to motivate and persuade at high levels.
• Diplomacy, good interpersonal skills and ability to remain calm under pressure while not losing sight of strategic priorities.
• Proven initiative, flexibility and ability to prioritise and work to tight deadlines across multiple time zones.

Job Purpose: 

This is an exciting opportunity to work on the continuous development and delivery of a specialist service working in partnership with Central Northwest London NHS Foundation Trust, providing enhanced support to women with mental and physical health needs preparing to leave prison and resettle back in to the community. This project takes a trauma-informed, person-centred approach to support and works together with partner agencies to provide a bridge from prison to the community.

This post provides operational management of this project across the three women’s prisons in Surrey – HMP Bronzefield, HMP Send and HMP Downview and a community service delivery area of London and the South-East of England, ensuring quality standards are consistently met, staff are effectively managed, partnerships are maintained and contract KPI’s are delivered.
