About the role:

The Peer Support and Community team at Kinship is dedicated to enhancing the lives of kinship carers across England and Wales by delivering the first national peer support service. This role is community-based and focuses on engaging kinship carers, bringing them together to form Peer Support Groups, and supporting them to achieve independence at which point they will receive ongoing support from our national Hub. Who we are looking for:

We are seeking an individual located in Greater London, and willing to travel across the South East of England who possesses the drive, passion, and skills to:

· Establish new Peer Support Groups across a diverse range of communities

· Supervise a small team of Peer Support Development Officers

· Demonstrate the energy and enthusiasm required to inspire yourself and your team to achieve key targets and objectives

· Work collaboratively within the Peer Support and Community Team, as well as throughout the broader organisation, to ensure the delivery of safe and effective support services for the kinship community.

· Maintain current Peer Support Groups, taking the lead from the national Hub.

· Maintain accurate records that are used to populate reports, identify learning and share key insights across Kinship that allow the organisation to continuously improve our services and products.

In the role of Senior Peer Support Officer, you will be instrumental in ensuring the delivery of a high-quality, consistent, and sustainable peer support service that has a significant impact on the lives of kinship carers.

You should have experience in developing and maintaining meaningful relationships with various community-based stakeholders such as local authorities, health services, schools, charities, and kinship carers. You will need to understand the key success factors involved in establishing and developing new in-person groups in areas of high need, as well as how to support existing groups in their journey towards sustainability.

As a practical thinker, you will work creatively to identify stakeholders and assets in areas of high need. You will build local connections and bring together kinship carers across the region, empowering them to build resilient and robust peer support communities.

You will be confident in building relationships that generate referrals from external stakeholders and in contacting kinship carers directly to secure engagement with local coffee mornings, community, and training events that will help kick start a thriving peer support group.

As you establish new groups, you will provide training to help them lead their groups effectively, and develop their group culture, resilience, and skills to function independently while offering reassurance and support to empower them.

You will be an inspirational and energetic team leader with experience in providing day-to-day line management and operational support for a small team.

We are ideally looking for candidates based in or around Greater London and willing to work initially across the London Boroughs and into the South East of England. This role may involve work to establish groups on the periphery of this area that currently have no dedicated development staff.

A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes are essential, as this role may require travel across London and its periphery to reach areas in need of dedicated support.

Key responsibilities: 

Service delivery:

• In person (face-to-face) strategic outreach into local and regional communities including setting up and attending local engagement events.
• Work creatively to set up and develop new sustainable in peer support groups, attending up to six sessions in person (if needed) before transition to self-sufficiency.  Existing groups that are at risk, closed or need support will need replacing or rejuvenating to maintain DfE service level agreements across the team, in addition to new groups. 
• Recruit and retain support group leaders to develop their peer support groups.
• Deliver training to support group leaders (group roles and responsibilities, safeguarding, setting up, running and promoting a group).

The Vacancy

The Methodist Church is at an exciting point in the development of its ministry with young adults (18-30). We are seeking to appoint someone with enthusiasm and passion for seeing young adults connect with God and explore their calling as a follower of Christ.

This role is integral to the delivery of the Young Adult Ministry Development Plan, and will focus on the following priorities:

• The management, development and advocacy of a new Young Adult Mission Placement Scheme, which aims to provide opportunities for young adults to be employed (or volunteer) in mission-focused placements in local churches and circuits where they can explore their vocation.

• Advocating for, supporting and enabling creative and relevant young adult ministry to be started and embedded in circuits and districts by journeying with local circuits/districts, providing advice and mentoring as appropriate to pilot creative projects for young adults to engage with and grow in discipleship and vocation.

An enhanced DBS disclosure will be required for this role, the cost of which will be incurred by the Methodist Church.

About the role

The Programmes Administrator will be in charge of the smooth running of 1MM Mentoring Programmes in Greater Manchester and other regions, including the supporting of mentors & mentees through their journey. By ensuring a fast and effective onboarding process, timely communication, and ongoing support for our participants the Programmes Administrator will assist Regional Managers and/or the Head of Delivery with maximising the positive impact of 1MM’s mentoring programmes. Our projects focus on education, child protection, and livelihood support to address the social, economic, and structural issues underpinning today’s education crisis. We partner with local organizations and communities to deliver our locally rooted programs. We use evidence to drive learning and the refinement and scale-up of programs to create maximum impact for most children at the lowest cost. We pride ourselves on being willing to go to the world’s most challenging places where others won’t, including remote, hard-to-reach areas and fragile, disaster-affected states across sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. Since 2008 we have helped over 1 million children go to school and learn and supported over 50,000 families to set up businesses to afford the cost of educating their children. 

Part 1: Role Purpose: 

The purpose of this role is to lead improvements in the financial management of Street Child’s partner, Street Child of Liberia (SCoL), a national education and child protection organisation with nationwide presence and annual budget of up to $1m. The role holder will also manage Street Child’s financial reporting and compliance requirements in delivering programmes in Liberia. 

The role will report to Street Child’s West Africa Regional Finance Manager, with oversight of Street Child of Liberia’s finance team, and a close working relationship with SCoL SMT, Street Child’s Freetown based Head of Sierra Leone / Liberia Programmes and Monrovia based Programmes Officer.

The role provides financial oversight of programmes in Liberia, facilitating accurate and timely donor reporting, strong budget management and excellent record keeping. Key aspects of this role include: improve financial management and reporting systems; ensure a strong control environment and maintain strong record keeping; empower programmes and leadership teams to have strong financial management and grant management capabilities. The role also serves as a link between Street Child of Liberia and Street Child UK, delivering monthly requisitions, annual budget information and other information as required, with scope to extend support across Street Child’s regional programmes portfolio as required. 

Part 2: Key Responsibilities: 

1) Ensure robust financial management and reporting systems to facilitate accurate donor reporting, strong budget management and transparency for budgeting (40%) 

• Ensure that all staff are using the QuickBooks finance system in place at Street Child of Liberia to provide accurate and timely recording of transactions – providing training, review, support and direct input as needed. 

• Ensure that all month end processes are carried out in a timely manner including month end closure processes, bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and generating reports 

• Providing reliable donor reports, Budget vs Actual reports to the Director and Programmes staff to facilitate good planning and anticipation of any changes needed to programmes delivery. 

• Ensure that donor expenditure is recorded accurately and finance reports are of high quality with full supporting transaction listings reconciled to the finance system and delivered to deadlines in accordance donor requirements. Report on all costs incurred both at Street Child of Liberia and Street Child HQ. 

• Preparation of all donor reports, working with Partner Finance team and programmes staff as needed to ensure that they are delivered on time and with appropriate sign off. 

• Support donor due diligence and donor audits by provision of information required. 

• Provide input as necessary for all donor budget proposals, ensuring that costs requested are complete and reasonable seek approval for all donor proposal budgets before they are submitted to donors 

• Facilitate the year end audit, over-setting the end to end of the annual audit process. 

2) Strengthening the control environment and record keeping (30%) 

• Review and assess the effectiveness of internal controls and recommend changes and improvements as required , and review any improvements in internal controls recommended by auditors or donors. 

• Work with colleagues to devise a delivery plan to ensure that improvements are met, and support the delivery of that plan. 

• Strong financial procedures are in place to accompany all payments and improvements are made to the payments system including in particular justifying the use of cash and advances. 

• Ensure appropriate bank & cash management procedures are in place and operating effectively, including bank reconciliations for all accounts, cash counts and cash transfers to field sites. 

• Ensure robust procurement processes are in place and being followed, working with the procurement team to make any changes needed and ensure that all staff are clear on the required procurement process. 

• Developing Financial management tools, including policies and procedures as required. 

• Ensure that monthly requisitions (the process for requesting monthly transfers from HQ) are robust, evidence based and submitted on time each month. 

• upcoming up with an annual budget, approved in accordance with SC budget timetable, working with the Senior West Africa Finance Manager to develop consistent templates to use in each template. 

• Regularly advise and provide support on other issues as the need arises. 

3) Participate in finance related meetings and initiatives for all SCoL programmes, providing budget and financial guidance, including provision of training to colleagues (10%) 

• To ensure the smooth-running of the programme with respect to its financial obligations. 

• Compliance with the organisational procedures; quality of budget monitoring; quality of the budgets drawn up; quality of financial reports for donors; anticipation of financial problems. 

• Provide BVAs every month by the 10th of M+1 of all contracts. 

• Plan and lead the BVA analysis meetings every month before the 15th. 

• Ensure coherency between the programme budget and the donors' budgets.

You will support the coordination team in delivering a series of events throughout the year, including our longest-running programme, the Bar Mock Trial Competition, which involves 22 events over six consecutive weeks in November.
