We are looking for a Finance Manager, to oversee and manage SLRA’s financial operations, ensuring transparency, efficiency and compliance with accounting standards.

Role Details

Title: Head of Skilled Volunteering

About Borderlands fundraising: So far Borderlands’ grant fundraising work has been led by a freelance fundraiser working 3-4 days a month (“Grants and Trusts Fundraiser” in the organisational chart). The Fundraising Manager will work in partnership with them and divide the role and responsibilities according to experience and capacity. Currently, most of our income is from grants; our key funders include the Henry Smith Charity, Garfield Weston Foundation, John James Foundation, Bristol Impact Fund and Nisbet Trust. The Joint Public Issues Team (JPIT) is recruiting to two full time paid internship positions: one focused on Communications (to start as soon as possible) and the other on supporting local churches to build relationships with their MPs (to start in September 2025).

You would be working as part of a small ecumenical team on a diverse range of tasks and initiatives including communications, policy, campaigning and supporter engagement, contributing to the public advocacy and political engagement work of the Baptist, Methodist and United Reformed Churches.

About JPIT 

JPIT is a partnership between the Baptist Union of Great Britain, the Methodist Church and the United Reformed Church, and the Church of Scotland is an associate partner. Its purpose is to help the Churches to work together for peace and justice through listening, learning, praying, speaking and acting on public policy issues. It is a team which brings together around ten staff working across the denominations. The Internships

Additional information

About the role: 

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Philanthropy Officer to join our small, ambitious team and help secure the funding that makes our work possible.  Our Philanthropy team builds meaningful relationships with supporters—particularly charitable trusts and foundations—to secure a significant proportion of Future Frontiers’ income. 

Reporting to the Head of Philanthropy, you’ll help build a sustainable pipeline of high-value supporters. You’ll focus on researching new funding opportunities, crafting high-quality funding applications, writing tailored reports, and ensuring excellent donor stewardship.

You’ll bring exceptional writing skills, outstanding attention to detail and a proactive, people-focused approach. You may have fundraising experience, or bring a strong understanding of relationship-building from another sector. You’ll thrive on spotting opportunities, shaping persuasive cases for support and connecting with supporters.

Your responsibilities: 

Identify new funding opportunities:

You’ll lead on identifying charitable trusts, foundations and major donors with the potential to support Future Frontiers. Through proactive research and collaboration with other teams, you’ll build and qualify a strong pipeline of prospective funders, matching them with appropriate asks. A key part of the role is ensuring a steady flow of new prospects, with regular research and outreach to grow our portfolio of supporters. 

Build and manage a portfolio of supporters: 

You’ll develop a strong understanding of existing and prospective supporters, enabling you to provide thoughtful, tailored relationship management. With guidance from the Head of Philanthropy, you’ll help build and maintain relationships with a range of grant-making trusts and foundations, securing donations and delivering proactive stewardship to encourage continued support. You’ll also act as an ambassador for Future Frontiers, creating opportunities for supporters to connect with our work. 

Write applications for funding:

You’ll craft high-quality funding proposals that make a persuasive case for how each supporter’s contribution will make a difference for young people facing disadvantage. Every application will be tailored to the funder’s priorities, and your exceptional writing skills and attention to detail will ensure each one is clear, accurate and compelling. 

Report on impact:

You’ll demonstrate the difference our supporters make by delivering high-quality reports, updates and case studies that bring our impact to life. You’ll work closely with teams across the organisation to gather the right information and write clear and engaging updates that reflect each funder’s interests and requirements. You’ll manage reporting timelines and ensure our commitments are met, helping to secure future funding and strengthen relationships. 

Keep accurate and detailed records: 

You’ll make sure all fundraising activity is recorded promptly and accurately, helping us track relationships, deadlines and progress. You’ll support the team’s efficiency by keeping organised records and helping to manage key administrative processes. You’ll also ensure we meet data protection and fundraising regulations, including GDPR and the Code of Fundraising Practice. 

Contribute to wider organisational priorities: 

You’ll be a collaborative team member, supporting cross-team projects and organisation-wide initiatives as needed. From time to time, you may also be asked to take on other duties in line with your role.

Experience and knowledge:

 ● Experience communicating clearly and effectively in different formats, including long-form writing, emails, presentations and conversations with stakeholders (essential).

The Heaney Cluster an intensively supported housing scheme for the most challenging customers in the borough. The majority of the customers come with a history of entrenched rough sleeping; often coupled with enduring mental health difficulties. Come and make a difference by joining our team reaching people who find it most difficult to access advice.  Money Advice Plus work both locally in Sussex and nationwide. Our mission is to help people manage their money effectively, and our independent, confidential and flexible approach is tailored to individuals’ needs, allowing us to reach those who find it most difficult to access advice. You will be joining a large team of Money Advisers providing specialist level debt and benefit advice and casework. 

We have 2 posts available - 1 based in our Brighton and Hove office, and the second either based in our office, but fully remote working possible.  For both posts you will have lots of variety, providing telephone specialist debt and benefit advice and casework across a range of projects.  If you are based in our office you will also deliver face-to-face advice both in the office and other outreach locations including Foodbanks and with inpatients.

Ideally you will hold a qualification in Money Advice, obtained either through the Institute of Money Advisers or the Money and Pensions Service.  If you do not have a qualification, you must be prepared to work towards obtaining this, included some study in your own time. You will have excellent communication and digital skills, be comfortable delivering advice in person and by phone, and be able to plan and organise your work effectively.
