The role
This important role sits within our Supply Chain and Logistics team, responsible for processing offers of surplus food from our food partners into our network of Regional Centres and the wider community. This role is essential in ensuring that the food we are offered reaches the thousands of charities and community groups we support across the UK.
The role is a combination of customer service provision and supply chain coordination with a strong data focus. You will analyse varied datasets to decide how food is distributed across our Network to ensure optimal and sustainable distribution. Main areas of responsibility
Food Industry Customer Service
- Deliver excellent customer service, ensuring offers are responded to and processed within agreed service level requirements

Citizens Advice Hounslow is a well-established charity operating in the London Borough of Hounslow, supporting over 15,000 clients a year. We have an exciting new opportunity in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support to provide welfare advice to support to people affected by cancer and those who care for them.
This post is funded by Macmillan Cancer Support and is aimed at assisting clients on the phone and in person from our offices and outreach venues including local hospitals.
Role purpose:
To provide welfare benefits advice, casework, and assistance in accessing other financial sources, to maximise the income of those living with cancer, their families, and carers. This may include disability benefits and other sources of financial support such as grants and help with health and travel costs.
Training
Successful post holders who are new to cancer, will be provided with Macmillan specific welfare benefits community of practice and learning opportunities once in post.
Delivery locations
A key aspect of the project is to deliver an outreach service at the West Middlesex Hospital, our offices in Hounslow and the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, with regular sessions to be covered by the team of advisers. Clients will also be seen in person for appointments at our offices, while telephone advice and video appointments can be done working remotely.
Main responsibilities
- To provide welfare benefits advice, casework, and assistance in accessing other financial sources to maximise the income of those living with cancer, their families, and carers.
- Assist clients to challenge benefits decisions.
- Liaise and negotiate with other statutory and voluntary organisations to progress the client’s case and ensure they receive all assistance available.
- Achieve good outcomes for clients by helping them access benefits, grants, discretionary payments, schemes and discounts.
- Maintain detailed electronic case records and other data for the purpose of continuity of casework, information retrieval, statistical monitoring and report preparation.
- Make internal referrals or signpost clients to other organisations as appropriate for specialist help with issues that fall outside the remit of the Macmillan service, including housing, debt, and employment.

As an Independent Living Advisor, on a day to day basis you will:
- Provide a comprehensive Independent Living Advice (ILA) service to people who are experiencing difficulties with day-to-day living, mobility, and self-care, or to those caring for someone in this situation, ensuring they have sufficient and appropriate information to make informed choices, working in a way that empowers them to take and maintain control of their own lives.

ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a Project Assistant to support INQUEST’s National Lottery Heritage Fund project, Unlocking the INQUEST archive: memorialising death and resistance. This project encourages engagement with the INQUEST archive and memorialises state-related death and resistance through creative outputs including: 12-month consultation, artist’s residency, banner making, small scale events, archival research, film screenings and a podcast series.
Organised, motivated by logistics, system-orientated, able to react efficiently to pressure, change and multitasking, the ideal candidate will possess outstanding communications skills necessary to liaising with a varied audience, including bereaved families and other key project stakeholders. They will be experienced in handling telephone calls, email correspondence, administration systems, and key IT software packages. Working closely with the project manager and project staff, they will support all components of our heritage project, including organising events and travel, liaising with key stakeholders, project social media and general administration. This role is part of the Wiltshire Service which provides individual and family support to domestic abuse victims and their children.
The Early Interventions Team act as the gateway for all domestic abuse and referrals to the Wiltshire Service. Working within an experienced and established team, the EI Triage Advisor will:
- Triage referrals, with a particular focus on domestic abuse referrals.
- Conduct risk assessments and offer immediate safety planning advice.
- Respond to safeguarding concerns.
- Signpost victims and professionals to other support agencies where appropriate.
- Offer specialist domestic abuse advice and support to professionals.
In addition, the role requires the building of effective relationships both internally within the Wiltshire Team and externally, supporting a multi-agency approach.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Working within the agreed policies, principles and codes of practice of FearFree, the post holder will:
Working with vulnerable people and risk management:
- Provide a victim focused service, with an understanding of the impact of trauma on vulnerable people.
- Demonstrate specialist knowledge and understanding of domestic abuse and how this may impact on the wider family unit.
- Provide advice, guidance and support to people who are victims of domestic abuse.
- Assess, manage and review risks to service users, colleagues and self, including the use of the dash risk assessment tool and SOAG (Severity of Abuse Grid).
- Make safeguarding referrals where appropriate: including to Children’s Social Care, Adult Social Care, Mental Health crisis teams and MARAC (multi-agency risk assessment conference).
- Work directly with individuals or groups as agreed with the Team Manager.
- Safeguard the health and welfare of service users and their families.
- Respond to emergencies and crisis situations including supporting a service user to access a place of safety if appropriate.
- Manage and support service users by telephone with low to medium support needs in line with the agreed values and aims of the service.
- Act as duty worker as part of a rota system. Duty shifts take place in the Trowbridge Office on weekdays between 9 and 5pm.
Team working
- Offer professional advice and support to multi-agency partners.
- Feedback to the Team Manager, Wiltshire Service Manager and/or other Support Workers any information related to the service users support needs or risk issues, and progress on support tasks.
- Work effectively in partnership with multiple statutory and voluntary agencies to enhance service delivery, safety and safeguarding.
- Contribute to effective team working with a flexible and pro-active approach, including cover for other team members’ holiday and sickness.
- Work closely with other agencies, to network with, make referrals to and maintain good relationships with, and be able to disseminate information appropriately.
- Communicate with other staff, as well as the Team Lead and Wiltshire Service Manager, issues related to activities and work undertaken.
Administrative duties
- Help provide a responsive support service with a high quality of customer care.
- Answer the telephone and take messages and referrals, take action on messages and referrals and provide a triage service for all referrals.
- Assist in the referral process and EI follow up, contacting other agencies and helping to arrange appointments.
- Assist in the assessment and allocation of service users.
- Update written and computerised records with accurate clear information to deadline, including maintaining details of any special needs required by service users.
- Assist with monitoring and evaluation policies and procedures and producing reports.
Additional tasks and responsibilities:
- Ensure personal safety for self, other staff and service users at all times.
- Participate in personal training and supervision opportunities and attend team meetings.
- Carry out other tasks appropriate to the post, which may be identified as the service develops and as agreed with the Team Manager and Wiltshire Service Manager.

We Are Listening is a new charity, created to provide an alternative befriending service for

Southall Community Alliance is a charity that has been working in Southall for over 30 years. We are now looking to recruit an ambitious and energetic Community Energy Adviser to support Southall’s economically disadvantaged residents and introduce home energy-saving advice to vulnerable residents.
Southall is home to many diverse communities for whom English is a second language, so the post will involve arranging activities to raise awareness of energy saving measures and improve domestic gas safety.
