Shooting Star Children’s Hospices provides specialist care and support to families who have a baby, child or young person with a life-limiting condition, or who have been bereaved. Rated ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission, we support families across Surrey, north-west London and south-west London from diagnosis to end of life and throughout bereavement with a range of nursing, practical, emotional and medical care.

About the role
A full time position has become available for an 18 month fixed term contract to cover a maternity leave position. This is an exciting opportunity to join the SPACE (Specialist Paediatric PAlliative CarE) service with a practice development opportunity. The post holder will join the team as a Band 6 and with support will gain clinical competence and leadership skills around complex symptom assessment, management and End of Life..
The post holder will provide holistic care and support to Children and Young People (CYP) with life limiting conditions and their families as a key member of the SPACE service. This care is provided in the community, hospitals and at the hospice, the post holder will be required to work in all settings but will primarily be based at the hospice.

About the role:
We are seeking a dynamic and organised Office Administrator to join our team. The role of Dose of Nature’s Development Manager is a permanent, high-level role which will continue to evolve as the work of Dose of Nature grows over the coming years. The post involves creating and implementing a fundraising strategy, supporting the Chief Executive with financial planning, and providing clear long-term direction to income generation.
The Development Manager will work directly with the Chief Executive to devise a long-term development strategy, identify and secure funding partners, and produce relevant and compelling funding proposals. Currently the main sources of funding are from trust and foundation grants and local council health care grants. Going forward the Development Manager will grow the funding stream from trusts and foundations and look to solidify the donations from locals. As the charity develops there will also be opportunities of securing funding from the corporate sector, helping to secure Dose of Nature’s future.
The role requires a focused and detail-oriented mindset, entrepreneurial flair, business development experience, excellent written communication and interpersonal skills, good time management and the ability to juggle several complicated tasks at once. As with any small charity we hope to find someone who is multi-faceted in terms of their fundraising skill set, and within this, without being a communications specialist, we anticipate that the Development Manager will have experience of charity communications (although this is not the main focus of the role). Ideally the Development Manager will be able to help with creating a communications strategy, support communication tools such as newsletters and social media, and identify any opportunities that may help Dose of Nature grow.
Dose of Nature has an annual turnover of approximately £400,000, of which 75% is currently raised from trust and foundation grants along with donations from individuals. The Development Manager will be responsible for maintaining this income and also securing significant new funding during 2024-25. With a good network of local support, the Development Manager will have the advantage of having a database of supporters to work with and there is the potential to create an individual appeal or giving scheme. Currently the Chief Executive makes all funding applications to trusts and foundations and these relationships will be passed on to the Development Manager who will be expected to nurture these and secure grants from new sources.

Grandmentors
Grandmentors is an innovative volunteering project where older volunteers (aged 50+) use their lifetime of skills and experience to support and mentor vulnerable young people leaving the care system. These young people often need a guiding hand and role model to support them to find work, continue their education or begin training – ultimately giving them the skills and self-belief to lead successful and independent lives.
Volunteers meet with a young person regularly to boost their confidence and work towards goals, which are unique to each young person
Role Purpose
To develop and deliver all aspects of our Grandmentors project across London, ensuring it achieves its aims, objectives, outcomes, and targets. The post holder will work closely with the Virtual College and Leaving Care teams within London Borough Councils and local volunteers to ensure that we improve and empower the lives of care leavers (aged 16-25) through the unique power of inter-generational mentoring.
Key Duties Responsibilities

Role purpose:
The overall purpose of the role is to work closely with the COO to support the delivery of ShelterBox’s Mission, strategy, and plan.
The role of Business Operations Manager will play a key role in coordinating the delivery of 2022 – 2027 Strategy, supporting the operations of the organisation including internal communications across the global org, and assisting with the delivery of the strategy through accountability, structure, engagement, skill sharing, and communications.
Who are we looking for?
ShelterBox is seeking an accomplished and highly competent individual to provide excellent operational support to the organisation. You must have proven experience of roles where you have had a high degree of autonomy and highly developed planning and organisational skills.
We are looking for candidates with experience in strategy, internal communications and improving operational efficiency. Ideally, you will also have knowledge or experience of working for the voluntary sector or a charity.
This is a varied and busy role and to be successful you must have strong prioritisation and time management skills, excellent verbal, and written communication skills along with the ability to develop effective and positive working relationships internally and externally.
You will be a strong team player, who can also work autonomously to clear deadlines. You must also be able to analyse and summarise large amounts of information quickly.
Strong interpersonal, relationship management and influencing skills are also important, as is the ability to work with a variety of stakeholders with different agendas
The role requires a rigorous and critical thinker, able to ask probing clear questions and drive toward solutions quickly. You must have the ability to anticipate and assess situations accurately and recommend/implement effective courses of action, with a predisposition toward simple and practical solutions, through consensus building.
Main role and responsibilities
The Business Operations Manager will:
· Support the COO with overseeing strategy delivery, ensuring the coordination of strategic projects and providing project support where needed.
· Manage the strategy accountability framework.
· Support organisational engagement and internal communications.
· Enhance operational efficiency.
Duties will include but not be limited to:
· Representing the COO where appropriate in working groups/meetings internally.
· Working with COO and strategy owners to set targets and overseeing delivery against budgets / timescales in line with the organisational strategic plan.
· Managing strategy reporting: tracking KPIs and deliverables/outputs.
· Supporting projects to meet strategic KPIs including specific support (on a short-term basis) for delivery.
· Keeping current on progress, risks, etc for 9 organisational Strategic Objectives
· Supporting the refreshing / revising of strategic objectives and KPIs as needed
· Future scanning external landscape to ensure strategy objectives still relevant and achievable.
· Managing quarterly Strategy Delivery Board with COO (Chair) and relevant accountability mechanisms for strategy reporting/collating. Presenting dashboard.
· Communicating our strategy to internal stakeholders, helping them find and feel their place in it on an ongoing basis.
· Actively instigating senior stakeholders, including the Executive Team, to communicate frequently and with clarity to the wider organisation.
· Support timely and effective dissemination of internal communication, keeping all stakeholders across the ShelterBox network updated on delivery of our mission and strategy.
· Supporting identification of key communications themes and messages from meetings you attend.
· Working with the COO to deliver projects relating to operational efficiencies.
· Provide holiday cover for key organisational duties as appropriate.

· Any other duties as required which are deemed appropriate to the level and grade of the post.

Excellent written communication, copy editing and proofing skills are essential for this post, and you will require to have previous experience in writing for a variety of different media channels. You will have the ability to convey complex medical information in accessible language and knowledge of the steps involved in producing information. You’ll have line management experience and the ability to review and give feedback on others’ work. Previous experience of working in cancer healthcare would be an advantage.

As Patient Information Manager you will have the opportunity to lead, develop and diversify the range and type of patient information we currently produce, working with a range of internal and external stakeholders. Managing the Patient Information Team, you will oversee the quality of all resources produced, ensuring compliance with recognised standards and internal brand requirements.
The Patient Information Manager will also be responsible for managing the information events team who hold digital and in person events for those affected by myeloma, working with the team to plan the programme for all events.
