Job Description

Job Title

· Deputy Centre Manager (The Junction Youth Centre, High Wycombe)

Position in the Organisation

· Reports To: Centre Manager

· Responsible For: Youth Workers and freelance staff

· Working hours: The centre is open 7 days a week 4-9pm. Working hours are 1:45-9pm on a two-week rotation (4 days one week and 6 the following). This post includes regular weekend work.

· Working With: Other members of the Action4Youth team including the High Wycombe Mentor, other programme staff, schools, key partners including other local youth organisations, Buckinghamshire Council, Thames Valley Police and many more.

Main Purpose and Scope of the Role

This role will assist with the day-to-day management of the centre and lead a small team of staff, including Youth Workers and some freelancers. The Deputy Centre Manager will be working in partnership with the Centre Manager to ensure the safe running of the centre and to deliver youth work directly. This role will liaise closely with the Centre Manager in order to make sure youth provision is effective and inclusive for all young people.

This role will be based in a multi service drop-in centre in High Wycombe for young people aged 12 – 18 years (up to 25 with SEND). The service will offer a range of sessions and activities all under one roof, seven days a week, and provides specialist support to those who are vulnerable.

The centre provides support in the following areas;

1. Crisis support; a drop-in service operating seven days a week where young people can come in and access specialist support and signposting in the below areas from trained staff.

· Homelessness

· Sexual health/unplanned pregnancy/sexual identity

· Family breakdown

· Crime

· Violence

· Bullying

· Substance misuse

· Relationship breakdown

2. A programme of mentoring to support young people on a 1:1 basis.

3. Health and wellbeing; a timetable of weekly activities focussing on positive mental and physical wellbeing.

· Nutrition and cooking - A weekly ‘cook along’ session will be available for young people to participate in where they learn the basics of cooking healthy and cheap meals.

· A timetable of fitness sessions including boxing and MMA sessions.

· A fortnightly mental wellbeing session which will focus on topics such as positive body image, social media, mental resilience, stress management, positive relationships etc.

4. A Youth Space for socialising and leisure activities;

· Café area

· Pool table, table football, table tennis, gaming consoles

· Weekly homework/ study club providing a quiet space where young people can get support on any schoolwork

· Weekly SEND Youth Group- open to young people with additional needs only who can come to socialise and participate in sessions on life skills

Duties and Key Responsibilities

• Register young people on arrival at the centre
• Keep the centre clean and tidy and be responsible for opening/ locking up the centre
• Assist with the overall smooth running of the centre and all its activity strands
• Work closely with library staff, Eden security and other key partners
• Be the lead staff member, running the Youth Centre, when the Centre Manager is not on shift
• Attend Action4Youth team meetings (sometimes outside of working hours) and be a positive link between The Junction and the other Action4Youth sites
• Communicate effectively with all core staff, freelancers and partners to ensure the centre is running safely and effectively and always be a positive role model
• Assess the needs of young people to correctly plan and deliver sessions related to areas such as health, fitness, smoking, drugs, gangs, violence, relationships and bullying
• Set up and run regular group youth work sessions in line with the key areas listed above
• Develop a positive rapport with young people based on respect and trust, ensuring the youth centre is a safe and welcoming place
• Establish boundaries and challenge inappropriate behaviour
• Mentor, coach and support individual young people
• Work in partnership with families and other key people in the young person's life, as well as with professionals from other organisations such as social care, health, police, education, youth offending teams and local authorities, in order to build a strong support network
• Manage, support and mentor staff, including youth workers and placement students
• Undertake administrative tasks relating to the centre’s efficient running, maintain effective recording systems and respond to queries
• Provide reports for funders and to SMT- including attendee numbers, case studies and other KPI’s as per funding applications.
• Promote the services of The Junction and take the lead in organising recruitment events at local schools. These may be outside the regular working hours, and you will need to claim time back in lieu.
• Attend local networking meetings to represent Action4Youth and promote the services of The Junction
• Work collaboratively with local community organisations to offer the best services to young people
• Always Act as an Ambassador for Action4Youth.

General Responsibilities

· Support events and meetings when required.

• Support the continued development of quality standards as specified by Action4Youth.
• Support in other areas of the organisation as required by the CEO

· To have regard for the vision of Action4Youth and to display a commitment to equal opportunities and to the protection and safeguarding of children, young people and vulnerable adults.

· To carry out any other Action4Youth duties as required by your Line Manager, CEO or Directors.

· Administering own workload which includes meeting targets and deadlines in line with the Action4Youth Performance Management System.

· Attending relevant CPD training events in line with Performance Management appraisal.

· Undertaking responsibility, as part of the team, for all Health and Safety work related matters.

· Working within the guidelines of Action4Youth policies and procedures.

Skills, Experience and Knowledge

• Previous work experience in the youth, education or community sector
• Be able to lead, manage and support a small team
• Excellent communication skills, including being able to positively engage with young people from a wide range of backgrounds and actively involve them in the decision making process.
• Confident user of IT, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint
• Experience of using a CRM system (desirable)
• A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (desirable)
• Practical experience of designing and delivering presentations to a varied audience (desirable)

• A qualification and/or experience in youth work

As Project Support Officer you will support the Area Manager and Regional Manager with volunteer recruitment, documentation of training, giving our volunteers a fantastic experience, guest outreach and giving extra support to our West Midlands projects as and when required to aid development and growth within the region.​​​

Each of our Projects is run by Project Leaders (volunteer position) and supported by Regional Managers through recruitment and training of volunteers. You will support the Regional Managers so that they can manage more projects, knowing that you have helped with the embedding of volunteers, along with supporting expansion plans within their areas. This support could range from developing relationships with our food suppliers, researching local organisations to support with guest outreach, and recruiting new Project Leaders for the Area.​

You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and be able to talk confidently to external people about our Projects.​You will also be a good organizer, with the ability to manage multiple tasks within multiple Projects. You will have a passion for food and cooking, and be committed to our objectives and ethics.​

This role will require some attendance at our Community Meals projects, to support with delivery as necessary, which will include some evening and weekend work. A full driving license and access to a vehicle for work purposes is essential for this exciting role.​

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Peer Support Worker to join our team in the Camden Crisis Teams. We are looking for both full and part time staff, (working hours to be agreed, however, our service runs Monday to Friday, between the hours of 9am-5pm), on a permanent contract. Reporting directly to the Connections Team Leader.

Your role will require you to provide one-to-one support for service users, setting personal goals with the service user for recovery, developing ways with the service user on how to keep well and identifying their own personal sources of support. This will involve work and travel within the Borough of Camden but will be based at in one of the Crisis Team offices either at Daleham Gardens or St Pancras Hospital. The post is a permanent contract with a starting salary between £24,500 - £31,500 pro rata depending on experience.

How will you make a difference?

You will work with the Peer Support Team and draw upon lived experience to assist service users to move forward positively.  Acting as a specialist resource to provide a unique perspective to service users. 

You will hold a small caseload to allow regular sessions to be held with the service user, maintaining confidential records, utilising VoiceAbility and NHS electronic records system.  Planning, implementation of and review of care packages, including parts of the individual care plan.

We are looking for an empathetic self-starter to become our new Legacy Manager. This is a varied role, where you will be working with the Head of Individual Giving & Legacies to plan and manage the full breadth of a small legacy programme, which has huge ambition for growth.

You will be managing our legacy marketing programme; maximising the opportunities available to encourage supporters, and potential supporters to leave a gift in their Will, so that we can help more young people in the future. You will be working with supporters to answer their questions about legacy giving, and working with the next of kin to ensure that their loved one’s legacy is cherished.

As a member of our Senior Management Team, you will be responsible for managing the Fundraising Team in Poole and directing the activities of those in other ASF locations to generate income against set targets and develop new income streams, working collaboratively with the CEO and wider ASF team.

You will need to use your gravitas and well-developed influencing skills to nurture relationships and articulate the benefits of ASF work to key high value donors to leverage more sizeable donations. You will use your well-developed networks to further build our funding portfolio. This includes developing partnerships with corporate businesses and local communities.

Working collaboratively with the Growth and Performance Manager, The Operations Teams, Finance Manager and the Trustees you will demonstrate a proven ability to develop, write and deliver high quality applications and proposals for funding.

Planning, supporting and attending ASFs regular fundraising activities, events and dinners is a key requirement for the role.

As Grants & Development Officer you will work closely with the Management Team and be responsible for the successful grants and fundraising activity for core and project-based work, as well as developing new income generation opportunities.

Grants, Fundraising and Other Income Generation:

· Undertake regular prospect research to identify potential funding streams and prioritise opportunities based around local, community, and organisational need.

· Work with the Management Team, to identify, apply for and secure funding through appropriate and successful grant and tender applications.

· Maintain and strengthen relationships with current and future sponsors and supporters, including funding organisations and partners.

· Work with the Board and Management Team to help diversify our income sources to enable the organisation to continue its growth and demonstrate sustainability.

· Scope alternative / additional sources of funding, such as corporate sponsorship and membership opportunities.

· Research and develop new income generation opportunities, such as the setting up of a profit-making business(es) that donates its profit to the charity.

• Developing a strategy for the dissemination of the "Family planning and comprehensive abortion care toolkit for the primary health care workforce" and “ICM Competencies” in collaboration with stakeholders.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Recruitment and Induction 

• Volunteer recruitment – Conduct advertising and recruitment to ensure that there are enough people applying to volunteer at CoSS; ensuring people seeking sanctuary are aware of the opportunities available and able to access them. 

• Inductions – Lead and further develop inductions for new volunteers ensuring that these sessions are well attended and are accessible to volunteers from all backgrounds. 

• Initial support - Support new volunteers to start volunteering at CoSS and facilitate an initial probation period during which more support is available to each volunteer. 

• Administration - Work with the CoSS Administrator to conduct required administration associated with inducting new volunteers and running the volunteer team. 

 Volunteer Training and Progression  

• Volunteer Training – Deliver a wide range of training for the volunteer team that covers key essential areas alongside other training needs that may arise. 

• Training for people seeking sanctuary – Provide additional support to people seeking sanctuary to access a wide range of training and development opportunities. 

• Volunteer Reviews - Conduct regular volunteer reviews and meetings to gather feedback and to celebrate the work of the team.

Volunteer Socials and Personal Support  

• Volunteer Wellbeing - Support the wellbeing of volunteers and provide spaces for them to share and work through the challenges faced. 

• Volunteer Socials - Organise volunteer socials throughout the year. 

• Code of Conduct - Ensure all volunteers adhere to the CoSS code of conduct and manage issues that arise using CoSS's established policies and procedures. 

The Sanctuary 

• Work alongside the rest of the CoSS team, to ensure the smooth-running of The Sanctuary, our unique welcome centre for people seeking sanctuary. 

Additional duties and Line Management 

• The context of our work is constantly changing.  Additional duties that reflect the changing needs of the organisation may be required including possible line management of other staff members.

Growing Hope is a charity that champions accessibility and provides free therapy for children and young people with additional needs in partnership with local churches across the UK. We aim to grow hope for children, hope for families and hope in Jesus.

Growing Hope was founded in December 2017 and has a vision to see 20 clinics set up across the UK by 2030. We have five clinics, King’s Cross, Brockley, High Wycombe, Gateshead and Redbridge. We are seeking an experienced Executive Assistant to our senior leadership team of four individuals – our CEO, Executive Director of Services, Director of Operations, and Director of Growth. We are looking for a strategic and innovative individual with strong planning and organisational skills who is committed to the Growing Hope vision and values. As the charity grows we require support for project management and development of processes across the organisation. We’re looking for an individual who looks at the bigger picture, can help us with horizon scanning and can bring new ideas and processes to our ways of working.

Job Purpose
As Growing Hope reaches towards its vision to have twenty clinics by 2030, the Senior Team require additional support in order that they can fulfil the strategic direction of their roles. The Executive Assistant will be flexible and adaptable and able to help the team with streamlining processes as the charity grows. This role will provide essential daily support to the senior team including diary management, project management and process support across the organisation.
