About the role - Your main duties will include: 

• To work with the Head of EDI to deliver the organisations EDI objectives.

• To engage and participate in external EDI related network groups to develop our knowledge and understanding
• To support individuals, managers and the HR team with the internal reasonable adjustment process.

The Role: As the Refuge Support Worker, you will play a vital role in delivering tailored emotional and practical support to women and children living in our refuge. We are looking for a new member of our Bereavement Services team, to grow our capacity and help us reach even more people bereaved by epilepsy. Our bereavement services are provided for free, completely confidentially, to anyone who needs us. Often via telephone or email support, though we also have a thriving and complex Casework Service, helping bereaved navigate the inquest or investigation into their loved one’s death.

This new position will provide first-hand support to the existing team of 3, learning from their experiences and expertise about how we support people bereaved by epilepsy, and how this way of working influences the work we do across the charity.

You’ll be learning the ropes from day 1, getting stuck in with any tasks needed to help support the Bereavement Services team – this could range from admin tasks, answering initial enquiries from bereaved supporters (via phone or email), and will eventually lead to you taking initial calls with bereaved supporters, sharing with them the different ways the charity can support them, and helping us understand how best we can help them. There is a real potential for this role to grow and develop with the right candidate.

This is a Hybrid / Remote role. The SUDEP Action offices are based in Wantage, Oxfordshire. All staff are expected to visit the office every 6 weeks for a team meeting as a minimum.

Fundraising at BCYP

BCYP has historically been very successful in raising funds from non-statutory sources, particularly trusts and foundations, and is grateful to hold a number of established relationships with grant- makers. We work hard to ensure that we submit excellent, data-driven applications and evaluations. Until now, applications have largely been submitted by our Fundraising Manager- Trusts & Foundations, with occasional support from a freelance bid-writer. We now want to recruit a new member of the team, to help us to grow our income stream in this area and help us to steward these key relationships.

In this exciting newly created role, you will be responsible for helping to grow our income from grant- makers to design and promote funding opportunities, and to steward relationships with supporters through the giving cycle. Job Purpose:

The Bookkeeping/admin role include Managing and coordinating monthly reporting, budgeting and reforecast processes. Answering the telephone, ordering stationary. Providing back office services such as accounts payable, collection of time sheets and payroll. Monitoring cash flow, petty cash handling, paying invoices, communicating with local government finance team, HR and funding application /budgets and monitoring.

Experience of working in a medium size charity and can be work as part of a team friendly cooperative.

Key Responsibilities:

Bookkeepers are responsible for several duties related to managing financial records these responsibilities may include:

· Processing payments, invoices, income and receipts and entering data into accounting software (QuickBooks online) or databases then filing hard copies

· Preparing financial statements showing organisation income and expenditure

· Paying vendor invoices and tracking bank account balances

· Completing VAT returns (if related)

· Verifying the accuracy of business accounts and alerting the management of errors

· Recording any inconsistencies to help the Accountants reconcile inaccuracies

1. Promote the work of Crich Tramway Village to a range of organisations and individuals, developing partnership opportunities.
2. In conjunction with the Marketing team, ensure the wide promotion of volunteering at the Museum through a diverse range of media.
3. Liaise with all Museum departments to ascertain the need and requirements for volunteer team members.
4. Induct new volunteers to the Museum and ensure that they receive the appropriate training and introduction to their host departments.
5. Develop a system for welfare support to ensure that volunteers settle effectively into their roles and gain fulfilment from their work. Assist with any issues and difficulties encountered.
6. Ensure that effective risk assessment and safeguarding procedures are in place appropriate to all volunteers.
7. Develop a reward and recognition programme for volunteers.
8. Evaluate the contribution of volunteers recruited through the Project and the outcomes and benefits for each individual’.
9. Liaise with the Database team to ensure that all volunteers are recorded on the system, including emergency contact and other relevant information.
10. Adhere to and support all Museum policies and procedures.

• £11.89 per hour plus benefits
• 7 hours per week, worked over 2 days
• One of the days to be a Thursday (for overlap with other staff)

About the charity: Cavernomas look like raspberries and are found in the brain and spinal cord.  They're formed of abnormal blood vessels with thin leaky walls, which can bleed at any age without warning.  1 in 625 people are thought to have a cavernoma, and whilst most people won't experience symptoms 1 in 2,700 do.  Symptoms can include haemorrhages, seizures and other neurological problems.  Treatment involves 'wait and see', neurosurgery or stereotactic radiosurgery; with no medications currently available.

Cavernoma Alliance UK (CAUK) is a member-led organisation, run by and for those impacted by cavernoma with more information available on our website. We work from a model of empowerment, recognising the value of our members’ lived experience to provide mutual support, improve standards of care and drive research into finding a cure.

Since the charity was founded in 2005 it has grown from a volunteer-led organisation based in Dorchester to a UK wide registered charity that now has 2 part-time permanent staff, looking to increase to 4 Part-time staff (all home-based), 50+ volunteers, and 4,000+ members. Our support services include a helpline, buddying, counselling, online support groups, meet-ups, webinars, lectures, newsletter, leaflets, website and social media. 

About the roles: The Member Support Assistant is responsible for assisting our Volunteer Manager with administration relating to the support of the charity’s 4,000 members and volunteers.  This includes offering a professional service to members of CAUK, typically via phone, email, online, chat, or on occasion in person. The role involves supporting the membership and volunteering processes, ensuring all admin is accurate and up to date.  Over time the post-holder will be expected to build a good working knowledge of members and volunteers.  They will also be expected to develop strong communication skills, including active listening, alongside the ability to multitask, manage time and prioritise.

The Events and Office Assistant is responsible for assisting the Charity Manager with the administration of events alongside some general office activities for the charity.  This includes assisting with the organisation of the virtual Annual Conference, virtual Monthly Information Webinars, in-person Annual Snowdon Climb for Cavernoma, online Cavernoma Awareness Month activities, in-person Autumn Lecture, virtual Secret Santa, attendance by volunteers at external conferences, and any other events organised by CAUK.  As and when time permits in between events the post-holder will also assist with some general office activities, including posting t-shirts/fundraising packs to fundraisers and arranging Zoom meetings.

The Hepatitis C Trust has developed projects nationally whereby peers use their lived experience of injecting drug use and hepatitis C, to provide education and training to service users and staff in drug and alcohol, hostel and homeless services, increasing hepatitis C awareness, access to testing and referral to treatment, for people living with hepatitis C.

We are looking for a passionate and skilled peer lead who has excellent communication and organisational skills. We require a good standard of education and welcome creativity and innovation in all our work.   

Working under the guidance of the Peer Programme Manager, this post will continue the development of the project, recruiting and coordinating peers across Cardiff and The Vale of Glamorgan. Working in partnership with hepatitis C clinical teams, drug and alcohol services and homeless service providers, the post will coordinate delivery of awareness raising workshops, hepatitis C testing with a focus on local prisons and community criminal justice settings, ensure that service users are referred and supported through hepatitis C treatment and care.
