Main duties: 

Working within the Finance team, the Group Finance Officer’s role will include:

· Providing ongoing financial support to all overseas teams.

· Supporting in conducting internal audits of overseas offices.

The ideal candidate will be pursuing a professional accounting qualification and a minimum of 3 years’ experience in finance management, preferably with an overseas development organisation.

The role will manage the Donor Acquisition Fundraiser and In-Memory Fundraiser and be responsible for the overall delivery of our individual giving strategy.

About the role

The role supports the Futuremakers RISE Kenya Programme in its implementation, ensuring all activities are inclusive and responsive to the needs of persons with disabilities and marginalised groups. This is a full-time internship for 12 months (November 2024 - October 2025), from Monday to Friday. The role involves working within the Kenya Country Office team and the Futuremakers Programme team to support day-to-day programme implementation, coordination with partners and other NGOs, attending meetings and making follow-ups, and participating in awareness and advocacy initiatives.

Principal Accountabilities

• Ensure activities are implemented in line with the approved workplan.
• Support the mobilisation, selection, training, follow-up, and monitoring of job seekers with disabilities in capacity-building initiatives such as Accenture S2S, Yusudi, and IT Bridge Academy.
• Assist in the day-to-day engagement of the Bridge IT Academy at NITA and the virtual CCST project.
• Work with the programme team to maintain up-to-date participant and employer databases.

You will contribute to the implementation of our communications, engagement and fundraising strategies, ensuring that your work is anchored in our organisational and team strategic goals. You will also be closely involved in team planning, whether it’s inputting into our operational plan or sharing ideas for new campaigns. 

There are opportunities to get hands-on developing and delivering communications and fundraising campaigns to educate and inspire individuals, businesses, and other audiences. The aim of these campaigns is to help remove barriers to employment for refugees and bring about systemic change via our partnerships. Please note, we do not currently run political campaigns.

You will be responsible for creating and delivering day-to-day communications across our owned channels (social media, email newsletters, and some website content). You will also help colleagues create content for earned and paid communications that they’re leading on (press and media, digital marketing, engagement with influencers)

A team player, you will build strong relationships across Breaking Barriers so that you can source and develop content that:

• increases our visibility and influence
• showcases our impact
• inspires members of the public to help refugees build new lives in the UK
• engages and stewards our key audiences, including corporate partners, employees who advocate for refugees, individual donors, volunteers, and people of a refugee background.

You will support the Senior Communications Manager to maintain our strong brand, ensuring that all our content complies with our brand guidelines and is of a high standard.

With a good eye for detail, you will play a key role in our data management, including overseeing data on the storytelling section of our CRM, monitoring communications enquiries, and setting up and running reports. You will become a Salesforce Superuser (full training and support will be provided for this).

Job Summery:

The Research Assistant’s role is to support the whole research team with administrative tasks to deliver their mission more efficiently. This role does not require scientific qualifications.

You will assist with organising meetings, including our Scientific Advisory Board meetings, and associated travel, writing letters and maintaining accurate records. You will be working across the whole research team providing administrative support as required, balancing priorities and liaising with other teams within the charity. 

��Location: While contracted to our office in Fleet, Hampshire, our team supports a blend of office and home working provided you have adequate broadband and IT capability, with an average of 2-3 days in the office each week.

⏰Working hours: This role is 30 hours per week, with some out of hours working.

��Benchmarked salary: £23,675 (dependent on level)

Who we're looking for:

With an enthusiasm and passion for the work of The Brain Tumour Charity you will have experience of working in administrative capacity. You will be highly organised, with excellent communication skills (written, verbal and interpersonal), a keen eye for details and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment. 

Key accountabilities:

•  Support the organisation of external research meetings such as Scientific Advisory Board meetings and meetings with researchers, including arranging travel, accommodation and meeting space.
• Organise internal research team meetings, including taking minutes and circulating agendas.
• Assist research grants team through preparation of outcome letters and communication with researchers.
• Assist in maintenance of accurate records for the research team, including document migration and data quality control.
• Manage shared research accounts and subscriptions.
• Completion of ad hoc tasks to support the research team with delivering their goals such as organisation of team training or planning sessions. Maintain accurate electronic records to track grant applications and awarded grants.
• Respond to enquiries about The Charity’s funded research, research strategy and calls for applications from researchers, the general public and colleagues within The Charity.
• Assist in ensuring the scientific accuracy of internal and external communications around the research programme, for example in feedback letters, mail outs, newsletters, website content and press releases.
