We have opportunities available, to work in our accommodation services across a variety of London boroughs.  Shifts are available across all London boroughs, or if you prefer a particular London borough, we can offer shifts that are more localised.

As a Locum Bank worker, you will provide effective day to day shift cover that supports the aims of our Projects and encourages the full participation of our clients. The shifts could be in our Accommodation services, Floating Support services, Refugee resettlement services or in our ex-offenders pathway. You will also take part in all aspects of the daily running of the Projects, including working with our clients in line with their agreed support plans.

You will also be comfortable working within a strengths and recovery framework (training provided) and ensuring that all aspects of your work, are delivered to the highest standards, and are fully compliant with organisational values and contractual requirements. 

In return we will provide you with an online and project specific Locum induction and core e-learning (Fire Safety, Safeguarding Adults & Children, Data Protection, Equality, Diversity & Inclusion) to equip you with the tools to successfully carry out your work practice.

Early shifts: 8am - 3:30pm/4pm and /or Late shifts: 3:30pm - 10:30pm and /or Night shifts 9.30pm/10:00pm- 7.30/8am- available.

Pay range: £13.15 - £14.49 per hour. All Locum shifts are paid at base £13.15 per hour rate unless a higher rate with additional case working responsibilities is agreed with project manager.

Summary of the Role

As a Trust and Grant Fundraiser, you will play a crucial role in securing funds from various trusts, foundations, and grant-making organisations to support the mission and projects of Roundabout, South Yorkshire’s youth homeless charity. The successful candidate will be responsible for researching potential funding sources, developing compelling grant proposals, and cultivating relationships with donors.

You will spend time researching grants to apply for and build relationships with award funding bodies. In addition, you will need to develop relationships with the different projects at Roundabout to know what they need funding and to interpret the results to feedback to funders.

The successful candidate will be instrumental in conducting comprehensive research, crafting persuasive grant proposals, and fostering meaningful relationships with donors to drive the organisation's fundraising success.

You will be joining a fast paced and fun team of five fundraisers who work across all fundraising disciplines.

Key accountabilities

• Conduct thorough and targeted research to identify potential trust, foundation, and grant opportunities aligned with Roundabout's mission and specific projects.
• Maintain an up-to-date database of relevant trusts and foundations.
• Stay connected with evolving trends in grant-making, philanthropy, and social services to maximize funding potential.
• Collaborate closely with project managers and relevant staff to gather insights and data necessary for creating compelling grant proposals and evaluations.
• Craft clear, concise, and impactful grant proposals that effectively articulate Roundabout's objectives, strategies, and the profound impact of our initiatives for young homeless people in South Yorkshire.
• Cultivate and nurture relationships with current and prospective donors, foundations, and funding bodies through regular communication and engagement.
• Establish a deep understanding of the philanthropic priorities and interests of potential funders to tailor proposals effectively.
• Collaborate with project teams to ensure accurate and timely reporting to donors, maintaining transparency and accountability.

• Oversee the administration and reporting requirements for awarded grants.

• Proven experience in trusts and grants fundraising within the charity sector. 
• Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
• Minimum GCSE Grade C in English and Maths (or equivalent)

We are looking to recruit a Support and Advocacy Practitioner to work collaboratively as part of a committed team to deliver an outstanding service and a range of personalised support that puts residents first and empowers them to achieve their goals and thrive in adult life. This is an exciting role in our Supported Accommodation team that will lead on co-producing bespoke support and move-on plans, involving key stakeholders such as Social Workers, Personal Advisors and other support providers where appropriate. You will engage residents to meet agreed outcomes and develop life skills, assisting with day-to-day support and tenancy-related matters. You will also identify and promote opportunities for employment, education and training and support residents to remove barriers to accessing these opportunities.

Crisis is the national charity for people experiencing homelessness. In 2024 we embarked on our new 10-year strategy for ending homelessness. We know it is not inevitable. We know together we can end it.

About the role 

As an Engagement and Assessment Worker, you will be the first point of contact for someone who comes to Crisis for help to prevent or end their homelessness. You will: 

• Welcome them to the service on site and at partner agencies,

• Listen carefully and non-judgementally to their story,

• Complete thorough Crisis and Mainstay assessments using a trauma informed approach,

• Agree realistic options and the support needed to assist them to prevent their homelessness or a pathway out of homelessness.

• Help them formulate a holistic plan and help them take the initial steps, where necessary. 

• Hold a caseload of members who require short term intervention to end their homelessness. 

About you 

To be successful in this role you will have: 

• Experience of working successfully with disadvantaged/or socially excluded groups and individuals, utilising a psychologically informed approach. 

• Ability to deliver excellent customer service, ensuring accessible, welcoming, and safe ‘front of house’ environment in a busy service. 

• Experience of assessing presenting needs, and an understanding of strengths-based assessments. You will have empathy and understanding of the barriers to accessing services. 

• Ability to manage successful relationships with external agencies and relevant service providers and successfully advocate on members behalf. 

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills used to ensure accurate record keeping on a variety of Case Management Systems/Databases. 

• Excellent organisation and prioritisation skills, with the ability to successfully manage a busy and diverse workload. 

• The ability to use your own initiative to contribute to the effective running of the service and to work flexibly as part of a team.

About the role:

The Gray's Inn Road supported accommodation project is a 16-bed short stay accommodation service which holds a critical position in the endeavour to address rough sleeping in the London Borough of Camden. The service, funded by the Department of Levelling Up Housing and Communities and the Greater London Authority, in partnership with One Housing Group and Camden council aligns with the strategic vision to make rough sleeping rare, brief, and non-recurrent in Camden. Although there is not a defined maximum stay, the service is designed to be a ‘short stay’ project and will aim to move people on into suitable housing options after 3-6 months.

As a resettlement worker you will provide flexible housing related support to vulnerable clients across the service. Clients within the service will often be experiencing multiple disadvantages, including substance misuse, mental and physical health issues and contact with the criminal justice system.

The resettlement worker will need to be resilient, innovative, flexible and creative, working alongside support workers to support clients in becoming move on ready. You will also need to be able to facilitate appropriate move ons from the service by identifying tailored move on support for each client dependent on their support needs, which will require knowledge of housing pathways.

The resettlement worker will be expected to develop strong relationships with housing providers, including private rented sector landlords.

About you:

• A demonstrable understanding of the Recovery Model, and the ability to engage and motivate people to move towards independence and inclusion.
• A good understanding of the housing pathway to ensure effective and suitable move on options are offered to clients. This includes an understanding of the private rented sector market and ability to broker safe and affordable Move-on options.
• A proven ability to create and deliver SMART Resettlement action plans with clients through high quality risk and needs assessments.
• A working knowledge of Housing Management as applied to a residential setting, and / or client’s move on accommodation.

We're seeking a skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Young Person’s Worker. In this role, you will play a vital role in providing support to at-risk young people who are experiencing homelessness.

Your mission: to support and empower young people to develop the lifelong tools they need to lead fulfilling lives outside the confines of traditional services. You will carry a caseload of clients who you will formulate a comprehensive support and safety plan with, which forms part of the ongoing casework, promoting independence and preparing young people for moving into independent accommodation, and employment and education.

About the Role:

As the Young Person's Worker, you will be working within a strengths and recovery framework embedded within a trauma informed approach to ensure client needs and aspirations are at the centre of the support planning process. You will be the lead worker overseeing the support and development of the young person’s needs and aspirations. You will guide and signpost the young person to the relevant statutory and non statutory services and will be key in motivating and coaching the young person to develop independent living skills.

About the role

The main objectives of this role will be to provide excellent supporter care to Shelter’s fundraisers, which will involve building relationships and giving fundraising and event support and advice and providing efficient administrative support to the department. Time management & organisation: there’s a lot to do, particularly when we have fundraising products live and during the busy winter fundraising period, so it’s important to be able to manage your time well. The team has a really positive collective attitude to helping you do this, and they will suggest different tools and methods to stay on top of your work. But your being organised from the get-go is important.

Attention to detail: in all tasks, you will need to have a good eye for detail to make sure work is completed with a high level of accuracy.

Proactive: there are many activities to get involved with at Shelter, so being proactive ensures you get as much from your role as possible. Within your role you need to take initiative in setting up meetings, asking questions and suggesting/trying new ideas. Beyond this, taking advantage of volunteering in our shops or at events, and visiting local Shelter Hubs, is a great way to understand the cause and sector.

Willingness to be busy: everyone in the team has lots to do and has a range of responsibilities across different areas. To be successful in this role, you need to be willing to be busy during the working day and enjoy the variety this brings.

Flexibility: as this role will support work across the wider Community & Events team throughout the year, it is vital that the successful candidate is adaptable and willing to get stuck into different activities when needed. There will be occasional evening and weekend work to support events, for which time off in lieu will be given.

About the team

The Supporter Experience team at Shelter exists to provide expert stewardship to build deep long-term relationships, enhancing the supporter experience to drive income now and increase lifetime values. We ensure supporters feel valued and appreciated by Shelter and understand the impact of their support. We’re part of a wider Community & Events team that sits within an Income Generation directorate.

Together, we look after a wide variety of fundraising activities to help fund our mission to ensure a safe home for all. Your team are welcoming and supportive, we work hard but try to have a lot of fun as well. Your line manager will be there to support you and encourage your personal development and you’ll have the opportunity to progress within the Community & Events team and beyond.

What you'll do:

New Horizon Youth Centre has been commissioned by the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) as part of an Alliance with Safer London, St Giles Trust and the Anna Freud Centre to deliver on their Children and Young People’s Violence and Exploitation and Reduction support service. • Collaborate with external agencies such as Adult Social Care, Health, Mental Health, and other specialist providers to enhance access to services and improve outcomes.

Workplace details

Community and Event Fundraising Support

• Build and maintain relationships with community and event fundraisers, ensuring they are supported before, during and after their events.

• Draft copy for, update and create community and event fundraising pages on the Glass Door website and promotional emails which can be sent through the Glass Door mailing platform.
• Support with identifying new prospective community supporters and assist with the development and fulfilment of targeted approaches.

• Manage the Glass Door Christmas carol concert, working with the Communications team to promote and market the event.

- Encourage fundraisers to share their fundraising stories for inclusion on social media and our website.

Other Fundraising Support

• Develop Glass Door’s schools giving programme, including designing engaging fundraising packs, writing successful charity of the year applications and delivering presentations and assemblies.
• Support on church fundraising, including delivering presentations to churches, attending fundraising events, promoting appeals and Glass Door events (e.g. Sleep Out) and liaising with church staff.
• Manage the process for soliciting, monitoring, thanking and recognising donations in kind, working with colleagues across the organisation.

Fundraising Administration

• Working with Finance and the Income Processing Assistant to ensure accurate and timely processing of donations, including scanning cheques, coding bank transfers and web donations, entering details in CRM database, banking cash, setting up Direct Debits, receiving in-kind donations and acknowledging/thanking donors via email or post.
• Create and update donor records on CRM, ensuring records are kept up to date, accurate and consistent at all times.
