Action Against Hunger UK invested in and accelerated the roll-out of the best approaches to prevent and treat severe acute malnutrition. This includes ensuring that operational research is supported by robust costing and cost-effectiveness analysis. 

We are looking for a Senior Research Advisor to work within the Nutrition Unit of Action Against Hunger UK’s Operations Department. The Senior Research Advisor will be expected to

1. Lead the implementation of a wide range of research projects (including evidence synthesis, economic evaluation, programme evaluations, clinical trials, and community studies) 
2. Support the positioning of Action Against Hunger as a key reference on the build-up of evidence in prevention and treatment of malnutrition research Project
3. Lead on evidence dissemination, knowledge management, research uptake activities as well as the development of training materials linked to research and Cost Effectiveness analysis.

You will be leading internal projects and external consultancy projects. In addition to members of the nutrition team, you will work with external partners which might include other NGOs, academic partners, UN agencies and independent consultants. Role and responsibilities

• Greet Customers in a warm, friendly and welcoming manner
• Always maintain excellent customer relations with clear communication

The Role

You will be supporting the rolling recruitment programme for new Membership Fundraisers at the charity, and ensuring the headcount and pipeline of Fundraisers is kept to agreed levels and maintained.  This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth running of the recruitment process between key stakeholders across the organisation.

The role requires a proficiency in speaking with potential candidates, talking them through the Fundraiser role, and making a strong judgement call.

About You

You will be confident when speaking to the public and understand the importance of the fundraising role, and know how to determine if applicants have what it takes to make a good fundraiser. You will have experience in managing multiple projects and budgets, as well as a track record in excellent stakeholder management.

Our Employability Coaches play a vital role in helping women with convictions build the confidence, knowledge and skills needed to become ready for work. Through virtual and in-person one-to-one sessions, you will use coaching and mentoring approaches to support women in setting career goals, developing their interview skills and CVs, and preparing to disclose their criminal record to employers.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in supporting women facing complex challenges, such as involvement in the criminal justice system, financial hardship, domestic violence, homelessness, substance dependence, or experiences of trauma and mental health issues.

Strong emotional resilience is essential to manage the demands of working with women who have experienced trauma, while consistently maintaining a non-judgmental approach and clear professional boundaries. You will need to be highly empathetic, able to build trust and rapport effortlessly with individuals from diverse backgrounds, and confident in leading group sessions to deliver engaging and impactful support.

This role requires someone who is highly organised and capable of managing a varied workload. Solid written communication skills and proficiency in IT and MS Office are essential. Experience with case management systems is advantageous, though a demonstrated ability to learn new technology quickly is also valuable.
