Introduction
We are looking for a dynamic and motivated individual with charisma, resource and initiative, a collaborator who can embody our one-team approach to fundraising. With a focus on grant funding, you will oversee and directly contribute to income generation, be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and enjoy getting things done. As an ambassador for RSPB NI, you will develop excellent relationships across RSPB teams and with a range of significant funders and partners.
What's the role about?
You will make a significant contribution to developing projects and be responsible for compiling high-quality funding applications to a variety of sources to secure income for our fantastic portfolio of work including nature reserves, visitor facilities, people engagement and nature recovery projects. You will have experience of line management, working with and through others to achieve results, being part of project teams, extracting the best from individuals and achieving success through partnership working.
Working knowledge of due diligence and legal compliance in the charity sector will enable you to ensure contractual obligations are communicated to project executives and budget holders, ensuring the RSPB upholds its reputation as an NGO that can deliver. Essential Qualifications
- Educated to A level, (Highers level in Scotland) or equivalent experience.
Essential skills
- Solutions-focused approach, with the ability to overcome set-backs in order to get the right outcome for the RSPB
- Proven excellent writing and presentation skills
- Budget management
- Able to interpret complex information and communicate it simply to target audiences
- Able to deliver high level of customer service to a variety of audiences
- Persuasive communicator and negotiator with the ability to influence
- Able to work under own initiative, with the confidence to ask for support and direction where needed
Essential knowledge
- Thorough working knowledge and application of relevant Chartered Institute of Fundraising, Fundraising Regulator and Charities Act regulations and guidelines
- Understanding of fundraising and donor/supporter motivations and how to build cases for support
- Able to articulate understanding of GDPR and data protection relating to funder/supporter information.
- How to use a fundraising database such as Raisers Edge, Care or Salesforce
Essential experience
- Proven experience in fundraising/ sales/project management and delivering to income targets
- Proven experience of relationship development in an outward facing role in the not for profit or private sector

To further our work in this important area, we have recently established a new Consumer Policy team. We now have an exciting opportunity for a Consumer Policy Manager, who is passionate about consumer issues and skilled in policy making, to join us and make a meaningful impact in a new role.
Coming into this role, you will raise the profile of consumer policy within the SRA - and the SRA’s profile within the consumer policy space. Internally, you will be working closely with policy and operational colleagues to make sure that the impact on the consumer is considered in our policy development and our actions as regulator. There will also be an increased focus on understanding and explaining the impact of our work on consumers, and highlighting how we ensure that our actions have considered that impact to ensure that they are in the public interest. Externally, you will be engaging and building strong relationships with consumer groups and stakeholders to capture a broad and deep understanding about consumers of legal services.
You will use policy, analytical, and strong project management skills to lead policy development on consumer issues. You will ensure that the importance of an evidence base and the values of equality, diversity and inclusion thread throughout.
A member of the SRA’s leadership team, you will promote the SRA’s culture, values, policies and ways of working to large numbers of internal colleagues.

Summary of the role
Following the successful conclusion of the Making the Exceptional Happen campaign (which raised over £71m) attention is turning to a future campaign in support of the University’s 2030 strategy which has three core themes: sustainability (greener); improving human health and wellbeing (healthier); and creating a fair and inclusive society (fairer).
Aligned to the Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (HASS), you will plan, develop and produce fundraising proposals to trusts and foundations of a consistently high quality. These bids will be tailored to the needs of a wide range of funders based both in the UK and internationally. You will influence the trust and foundation fundraising strategy and take an active role annual planning. You will have direct responsibility for securing significant new funds to support the university’s strategic objectives. You will work closely with academics and senior university leaders to create funding proposals. You will be expected to build personal relationships with key trust and foundation contacts (trustees/administrators) and to find ways to open doors to new trusts and foundations by exploring the networks of academics and supporters. The work will focus particularly on major proposals for grants of £100k or more.
With a significant track record of securing major gifts from Trusts and Foundations through your own endeavours and delivering against financial targets, you will have excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to liaise confidentially and diplomatically both externally and internally at all levels and to a range of audiences.

UCA SU represents 5,200 students, primarily across three main sights at Farnham, Epson and Canterbury. We are an independent democratic charity and membership organisation; we have student leadership at every level.
We're a democratic, membership organisation and all students at the University of Creative Arts are automatically members of the Union. Overall legal responsibility for the Students' Union rests with our Board of Trustees which is made up of three full-time Sabbatical Officers, four student trustees and three external trustees. The Sabbatical officers are elected each year by, and from, the student membership of the university. They take a year out of their studies (or immediately after graduating) to take on a fulltime paid staff role and to serve as a trustee.
We have done a huge amount of work over the last 6 months to turn the organisation around to ensure it is wholly focussed on supporting our diverse membership who study at the three campuses. We have updated our staffing structure to have our expertise equally focussed on each campus and have also changed our sabbatical officer structure to do the same.

About the role:
We are currently looking for an experienced Finance Officer to undertake operational finance activities and tasks in our small, friendly and flexible charity. The ideal candidate will perform finance tasks to support the Head of Finance through to end of year audit. You will liaise with a wide range of people by email and phone in a professional manner.

Key responsibilities of our Finance Officer will include:
- Working closely with Head of Finance to ensure receipts are recorded correctly on Sage 50 and membership accounts are validated/activated on Sage CRM as required
- Sales ledger converting sales quotes through the CRM into invoices on sage 50 and issue the invoice via email. Issue reminders for new and existing membership subscriptions, training, consultancy etc and ensure these are emailed to members
- Assisting with the credit control function, chase outstanding payments for membership renewals and new customers by phone, email
- Posting letters attached with a copy invoice to members chasing the outstanding payments – on a monthly basis
- Entering supplier invoices/expense claims, collate supporting receipts, and get appropriate authorisations for payment per policy.
- Setting up bank transfer supplier payments for dual authorisation.
- Monitoring the Finance mailbox and personal mailbox daily and action all queries, change requests in 5 days turn around.
- Monitoring and action online finance queries and redirect queries to the correct departments.
What we’re looking for in our ideal Finance Officer:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a customer service environment.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Experience of providing support via an online helpdesk and over the telephone.
- Knowledge and experience of working with databases and CRM systems.
- Experience in providing effective and efficient administrative support to an organisation.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Professional telephone manner and interpersonal skills.
