The role 

In this role you will support the Corporate Partnerships Manager and Head of Philanthropy and Partnerships to develop and deliver fundraising initiatives that will support existing corporate partners and securing new gifts. Your responsibilities will include the day-to-day account management of existing corporate partners, new business development and the co-ordination of our payroll giving program. This will include research, prospect development, donor cultivation & stewardship, verbal & written presentations and all associated administration.   Additionally, you will contribute to projects within the philanthropy & partnerships team such as events and webinars; and the wider fundraising team to collaborate on prospect development, funding opportunities and volunteering.

About you

You will be an excellent communicator, both orally and written, who is confident in speaking with supporters. You will manage your own pipeline of donors, so will need to take initiative, prioritise and organise your own work, with limited supervision to achieve deadlines for multiple tasks. Agile decision making and problem-solving skills are essential.

You may have fundraising experience, but this is not essential if you have sales experience. 

You will have:

- Excellent customer service skills with a background in fundraising or sales.
- Experience in new business development including identifying, researching and contacting cold prospects.
- Proficiency in verbal and written communication skills with an ability to present ideas creatively and persuasively.
- Strong administrative, planning and prioritisation skills with keen attention to detail.
- Competency with all standard Microsoft office applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience of using a supporter database or CRM

Key responsibilities

• Drive the organisation to use data in its operations, using first party and third-party data sources to facilitate more informed and reliable decision making.

Role description

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and creative project manager to join our Wales team. This role will be responsible for managing and delivering the North Wales Doorstep Sport project.

The project will implement an innovative place-based approach to increasing participation and engagement levels of young people living in low-income, underserved communities in sport and physical activity, focusing on 6 local communities across the region. 

The post holder will work in partnership with regional housing associations to develop and deliver an operational plan for the project, provisionally focusing on communities in Caernarfon, Bangor, Connah’s Quay, Llandudno, Llanrwst and Holyhead.

The role is integral to supporting and developing our placed based work in Wales and growing our ability to support a thriving network of Locally Trusted Organisations across the region. The role includes the activation and promotion of wider StreetGames support packages and interventions across North Wales that address wider issues, for example holiday hunger, community safety, mental health, youth voice and workforce development.

The ability to communicate in Welsh is desirable for this post holder, however, training and support to learn will be provided for the right candidate.

• Working closely with our science staff to develop pitches suitable to attract funding from philanthropic sources 
• Collaborate with other departments within UKCEH to address potential challenges associated with philanthropic funding (including financial constraints and contractual requirements etc.) 
• With colleagues in the Business and Partnership Development Function, produce the assets and deliver the engagements required to raise our profile to these funders 
• Oversee the ongoing management of our relationships with philanthropic funders 

We are looking for someone with a track record in fundraising, a passion for environmental issues, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders to overcome issues and drive funding success.

For the role of Philanthropy Manager, we’re looking for somebody who: 

• Has a track record of securing six-figure funding from trusts and foundations for research projects 
• Is experienced in developing and nurturing relationships with different profiles of philanthropic funders, such as charitable trusts, high-net-worth individuals or major donors 
• Has proven business and financial acumen to assess strategic opportunities
• Has strong English writing skills for developing high quality funding proposals for philanthropic audiences and reports 
• Has persuasive presentation skills, able to influence decision-making 
• Has strong communication and networking skills
• Has a keen interest in the environment and environmental issues 
• Is keen to travel and engage with philanthropic funders both in the UK and internationally 
• Shows initiative and can work in a team as well as independently
• Is proficient in using software packages including Microsoft Office and CRM systems (like HubSpot, Salesforce or equivalent)
