Head of Fundraising - Circa £50,000 per annum

The Head of Fundraising is a new role as we look to expand our fundraising and stakeholder engagement activities. You will have the chance to build on your fundraising experience and expand your network in Westminster.

We are ideally looking for an established and confident relationship builder who will thrive making new contacts in Westminster whilst fundraising amongst a political landscape.

You will have a strong fundraising background (ideally in philanthropy, corporate partnerships or proposal writing); able to build rapport easily.

Responsibilities include;

• Supporting the Executive Director of Marketing in the delivery of fundraising goals/targets with particular responsibility for managing relationships with regular supporters, donor club members, and major donors.
• Grow Best for Britain’s donor base through instructing the email & digital team, securing one-to-one meetings, and creating and organising fundraising events
• Improving the organisation’s user journey to maximise conversion of subscribers into donors.

Main tasks include;

• Contributing to reaching, or exceeding, the overall organisation income target
• Achieving a personal six-figure new business target
• Evaluating the political, parliamentary and legislative landscape for opportunities to make contact with existing supporters and prospects
• Prospect research into organisations, HNW individuals, and occasionally grant-making organisations, to prepare for pitches.
• Converting prospects into mid and high level donors
• Production of high quality fundraising pitches and proposals • Keeping the organisation’s database of donors and prospects up to date, in compliance with data protection regulations and internal policies.
• Managing guest lists for existing prospecting events, and creation of new events and conferences that support Best for Britain’s fundraising targets, and the organisation’s wider goals.

Internal Communications Officer

About the Role

We are looking to appoint an Internal Communications Officer who will play a critical role in developing and shaping the organisation’s internal communications for the staff of the Connexional Team.

The post holder will work closely with Senior Managers to ensure that the Team’s values, mission and updates are effectively communicated to all Team members working across several sites and from home, to foster a cohesive and motivated work environment.

The successful applicant will strive to create an environment where communication fosters a sense of community, aligned with the Church’s mission and values to create an engaged and informed Connexional Team.

In this crucial role, the Internal Communications Officer will be responsible for establishing and managing channels for staff feedback to leadership, producing engaging content for various channels, and organising and delivering internal events.

The successful applicant will also provide support and training for staff on communication tools and practices, encourage staff to be ambassadors of the Church, and plan and approve regular communications to be sent out to employees including staff newsletters and newsletters from Team members.

About You

The post holder will have at least three years’ experience of working with an internal communications context within an organisation and will have the ability to develop and implement comprehensive internal communications strategies that align with the organisation’s values.

You will be able to articulate messages clearly and effectively, both in writing and verbally, that are tailored to various internal audiences.  Exceptional writing, editing and proof-reading skills for a range of communication channels are a must for this role.

You will also have strong organisational skills with the ability to lead projects, work collaboratively and be proficient in digital communication tools and platforms.

The successful applicant will have strong interpersonal and listening skills with experience in building relationships with key internal stakeholders.

You will also have the ability to develop a deep understanding of the Methodist Church’s mission, values, and objectives to ensure alignment in all communications.

THE IMPACT YOU WILL HAVE

As an Events and Community Coordinator you will coordinate the delivery of events and community activity that engages people to raise vital funds for Missing People.

You will

• Deliver a range of fundraising products and activities for people with and without experience of the cause to raise agreed income targets;
• Contribute to the achievement of agreed team targets for supporter volume, average value, conversion rates;
• Create marketing briefs and work with the Marketing team to ensure events are marketed and delivered in line with plans;
• Coordinate the creation of inspiring and practical content and materials to support fundraising, including working with third parties to commission or source copy, video or images;
• Work directly with supporters to help them develop their own fundraising ideas – this will sometimes involve working with people with lived experience of the cause.
• Plan and deliver a portfolio of fundraising events and activities, coordinating event promotion, developing and delivering high quality supporter journeys, and planning and delivering an excellent on-the-day experience for supporters.

ABOUT YOU

You will need to have experience of:

• Providing an excellent level customer service;
• Communicating with customers verbally or in writing such as newsletters or emails;
• Engaging individuals and groups, inspiring them to take an action;
• Event management;
• Coordinating the creation of content and materials – e.g. sourcing copy, video, photography;
• Achieving and growing fundraising income or sales targets;

You must also have:

• Relationship building skills;
• Able to plan events, ensure they are delivered on time, after action review, monitor, improve etc.
• Able to work as part of a team and build professional, productive relationships across the organisation;
• Able to inspire people to take on an activity or challenge on behalf of the cause;
• High emotional intelligence to work sensitively with people with experience of the cause, often to do something positive ‘in hope’ of a missing loved one.

About the post 

This exciting role would mean joining Refugee Action at a crucial point in the charity’s 40-year history, full of opportunity and potential. You will use your creative skills to support the creation of innovative digital content to engage and mobilise existing supporters and add to Refugee Action’s rapidly growing audience. Working between the fundraising and campaigns team, this role will support the Digital Communications Manager to deliver our ambitious digital strategy, focusing on the development of engaging digital content, the management of one of our key supporter databases, and will lead on the engagement and retention work which supports Refugee Action’s fundraising and campaigning.

We are currently looking for a Communications and Engagement Business Manager to join the Foundation on a 12 month fixed term contract.

The Communications and Engagement Business Manager is there to provide project and business management support to enable the Communications and Engagement leadership team to focus on progressing the work of the business area and leading the wider team. Key Resposibilities

• Build an in-depth knowledge of the Communication and Engagement’s leadership priorities in order to help support the business area’s work.

Following their sons’ diagnosis of Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), Emily Reuben and Alex Johnson founded Duchenne UK in 2012. We are an ambitious, dynamic and impactful charity. 

DMD is a devastating progressive condition diagnosed in early childhood which causes all the muscles in the body to gradually weaken. There are currently only very limited treatment options for DMD, so Emily and Alex set up Duchenne UK to change this. 

Since 2012, we have raised more than £27 million to end the devastating impact of DMD.  We fund ground-breaking scientific research to find effective treatments. We’ve developed the infrastructure of DMD clinical trial delivery in the UK. We engage industry and regulators to accelerate access to treatments. And we’re here to support every family affected and ensure that they receive the best possible care. We aim not only to improve quality of live but stop the disease in its tracks. We’re doing it faster too, because this generation of patients can’t wait.

The successful candidate will be an experienced fundraiser with strong interpersonal and communications skills with the ability to build relationships with a wide variety of individuals. Excellent organisational skills are a must along with being ambitious, driven and passionate about representing Duchenne UK and supporting our mission.

The Fundraising Manager will report to the Director of Fundraising and line manage the Fundraising Assistant. They will work closely the rest of the organisation, including the Communications, Finance and Research Teams as well as having the opportunity to work alongside the CEO and Managing Director.

Job Description

This role plays a key part in advancing the fundraising of Duchenne UK to enable more investment into research, advancing treatments and supporting the DMD community.  A core part of this will be building relationships with key supporters, including our incredible Family and Friends Funds, corporate supporters and community of fundraisers.

You will be central to the development and delivery of key events and campaigns throughout the year to achieve ambitious fundraising targets. You will have budget management responsibilities and provide insight into activities to drive improvements and further success in future years.

The role will contribute to overall fundraising growth; ensuring the guiding engagement and fundraising principles are delivered, and that all fundraising delivers an exceptional and remarkable donor experience to which Duchenne UK prides itself.

Fundraising and business development

• Community
  • Key relationship manager for Duchenne UK Family and Friends Funds, engaging them through fundraising, supporting third party events and providing regular project and charity updates
  • Develop and implement the Family Fund and Community Fundraising stewardship strategy
• Events, Challenge and Campaigns
  • Manage and grow the challenge events portfolio
  • Project manage community events and Duchenne UK campaigns
  • Oversee the whole event process from developing a business case and objectives, to budget, project management and event follow up with relevant agencies and suppliers to deliver events within budget
  • Play a vital role in the delivery of Duchenne UK’s signature event, the Duchenne Dash. Our 24hr London to Paris bike ride raising c.£800k annually.

  • Manage Corporate partnerships, with support from the Fundraising Director
• Stewardship and income development
  • Develop and deepen existing donor relationships, ensuring that the organisation maintains effective communications and good relations with our donors at every level and that they are updated on our work and impact
  • Oversee management of regular giving, including working with the Communications team to promote this type of giving. Provide stewardship to Regular Givers, with support from the Fundraising Assistant.
  • Lead the identification and development of new income sources with the support of the Fundraising team to increase donations, improve the profile of Duchenne UK and enhance our reputation within the donor community; including corporate partnerships, fundraising campaigns, third party activity, challenge events, regular giving and legacy
  • Represent the organisation at meetings with donors and external events
• Monitoring and evaluation
  • Support the development and implementation of the new Sales Force database (launching July 2024)
  • Monthly monitoring and evaluation of fundraising activity
  • Review fundraising and engagement for each Duchenne UK event and campaign with the support of the Fundraising Team.
  • Ensure that accurate and up-to-date information is maintained.

Position:  Kingston BuddyUp Coordinator

Location: From our office in Teddington, Richmond Upon Thames, London

Salary: pro rata of £25,500-£28,000 depending on experience, incl OLW

Hours: Part time, 21 hours per week, some flexibility on days/hours as the service can involve some evening work.

Richmond AID has successfully delivered the BuddyUp project in Richmond and Kingston for more than 10 years. We have established referral routes into the project and good links for attracting volunteers. This role is to work supporting young people in the borough of Kingston and you will work closely with our Richmond BuddyUp Coordinator.

BuddyUp Coordinator is a fun and exciting role at Richmond AID which requires someone who is motivated, creative and can work from their own initiative. The Buddy Up Coordinator will match disabled young people aged 14 to 17 to a volunteer buddy who will support them to access services and leisure opportunities. This post will be based in our offices in Teddington and will predominantly cover the borough of Richmond though at times you may also provide support in the borough of Kingston.

Your role is to recruit and train the volunteers, and then match them with a young person, providing ongoing support to young people and volunteers. You will work closely with our Kingston Buddy Coordinator running joint monthly group activities. So far trips have included bowling, cinema, crazy golf, shopping, days out in London, laser tag, boat trips, etc.

About you

You will be organised, and ideally have experience of running a project and experience of working with disabled people and/or young people. Training can be provided. You will have excellent communication and IT skills, administrative skills and be fully competent on Microsoft applications. You will have the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Arts Emergency has been supporting young people through our mentoring programme since 2011. During this time, we've seen a huge community of mentors from across the UK's  creative industries come together to support nearly 2,000 underrepresented young people to pursue higher education, creativity and careers.

As the London Mentoring Officer, you will work as part of a small team to recruit, match and support mentoring pairs across London. This is a busy, fun, and rewarding role where you'll get to work independently while being supported by the Mentoring team, and the wider Arts Emergency team around the country.

The ideal candidate will be passionate and driven to make a positive impact on the world. They will have the self-discipline to work independently and the confidence to communicate proactively with the wider team.

The role can be home or office-based, or hybrid but regular travel across London is essential as part of programme delivery.

• Recruit and maintain a network of volunteer mentors, in collaboration with the wider Mentoring and Arts Emergency team
• Organise mentor training events and carry out necessary safeguarding measures, including enhanced checks with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) for volunteers
• Manage existing relationships and develop new ones with schools, colleges, and other referral partners
• Manage application and onboarding processes effectively
• Ensure the best possible mentor matches for young people and provide high-quality support throughout their mentoring relationship

Main Purpose of the Job

The Digital Enabler will work with the District Leadership Team and the Communications Officer to build the digital communications capacity of the District at every level, to facilitate effective participation by all members in the life of the church in the North West District, and to make use of new opportunities for mission and community-building in the digital sphere.

Key Responsibilities

1.Ensure that the District leadership is able to fulfil its responsibilities by ensuring there are reliable digital platforms for online, live-streamed and recorded meetings and events, for electronic dissemination of information (via web, social media and mailings), and audio and video recording and sharing..

2.Enable all members of churches in the District to have the opportunity for participation in District forums and events, and to receive information from their District and Circuits.

3.Co-operate with District and Circuit leaders, ministers and pioneers in the development of new forms of mission and church communities using a range of digital resources.

Key Tasks

Training and Support

1.Create a digital strategy for the District, identifying the essential resources and support needed to enable full participation at every level, and the opportunities for missional work in the online world.

2.Support the administration and governance of the District by facilitating online synods, committees and consultations.

3.Build a network of “digital champions” within Circuits and provide advice and support for local training and capacity building.

4.Devise and deliver online training courses for Circuits and churches.

5.Develop a “Digital Community of Practice” across the District, and linking where appropriate across the Connexion, which will envisage and create new ways of being and growing church in the digital age.

6.Work with safeguarding officers to raise awareness of digital safeguarding issues, and create usable information and guidelines for Circuits and churches.

Facilities and Resources

1.Work with the Communications Officer in building and maintaining the District’s online presence, including the website and social media.

2.Develop a range of digital tools and resources for the use of the District and its Circuits, and assist in their implementation. (These could include servicing local website and social media initiatives, plan-making and emailing applications.)

3.Collect and disseminate information on digital specialists in the District who can serve Circuits and churches. (This could include graphic designers, web and database programmers, audio-visual and streaming experts and others.)

Events and Online Communities

1.Provide technical support for online and live-streamed District events, including advertising, registration and ticketing, online and streaming facilities.

2.Work with the Mission Area Leads, Circuits and pioneers in implementing digital services, online communities and missional initiatives.

Personal Training and Growth

1.Maintain an awareness of changes in digital applications and resources, and consider how they can be used in the District.

2.Identify opportunities to expand knowledge and understanding, including by appropriate courses.

3.Reflect theologically on issues around faith in the digital world, and the opportunities for sharing the gospel by these means.
