As part of its strategy, The Trust has ambitious plans to grow its access to the workplace programmes at both pre and post 18 age groups, in new and innovative ways. We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Programmes Senior Officer to join our team and support the expansion of the Sutton Trust programmes.
The successful candidate will deliver the existing Careers Plus programme and will be responsible for s setting up two new industry strands in Tech and Consulting. They will also be responsible for the employer engagement of its Pathways to Engineering programme. They will join a small team and will play an important role in contributing to the on-going success of our programme work and industry engagement strategy.
The Senior Officer will work closely with the Programmes and Development teams to develop and deliver impactful programmes across a range of sectors. This is an extremely exciting time to be at the Trust and the role will require individuals to be creative and to think strategically about our approach.
This role will fit into a team of nine, led by the Head of Employability, and will be line managed by the Senior Employer Engagement Manager.
Main duties
- Plan and implement delivery for the three Careers Plus programmes, including skills sessions, work experience and mentoring across a range of sectors (Tech, Consulting and Law)
- Liaise with external delivery organisations to ensure the sessions and content of the programme meets its intended aims
- Recruit and manage a cohort of Careers Plus students (three strands, 30-60 students per strand), leading on communication to drive engagement and attendance across programme activities
- Evaluate the programme activities and delivery model to enable future programme development
- Supporting the effective delivery of high-quality in-person and virtual work experience and employer engagement as part of the Trust’s Pathways to Engineering and Access Apprenticeships in Engineering programmes.
- Liaising with a range of stakeholders such as employers, universities, and Sutton Trust colleagues to match students with relevant employer engagement activities.
- Following up with students in the case of any unexpected absence or non-attendance at work experience placements.
- Working with employer partners to promote volunteering opportunities at Engineering Pathways and Apprenticeship events in person and online.
- Working closely with the Senior Employer Engagement Manager and the Development team to manage and steward a range of placement providers and funders.
- Working with the Development team, manage the evaluation and reporting of programme activities including reporting/presenting to funders

Person Specification
We welcome applications from individuals who have experience in:
- Leading projects, including planning, administration and delivery;
- Delivering young person facing interventions, ideally with experience of digital delivery
- Facilitation of sessions with young people in person or online
- Building and maintaining relationships diverse stakeholder groups young people, universities and employers
- Monitoring and evaluation, reporting, and administration
- Using data to design and deliver programmes
- Using a CRM (ideally Salesforce)
- Working within or an understanding of the not for profit sector
We are also looking for an individual who:
- Is sympathetic to the aims of the Trust and its mission to address educational disadvantage
- Has knowledge and experience of the higher education and/or education and/or careers sectors
- Has strong analytical and problem solving skills, and uses their initiative to identify issues and propose improvements to programmes or processes
- Has excellent attention to detail
- Has first-class interpersonal skills - a natural ambassador able to represent the Sutton Trust in a range of settings
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Personable, flexible and discreet; able to fit in to a small team

Terms of Appointment
- Contract: Full-time, 1-year fixed term contract
- Salary: £34,000-£36,000
- Office location: The Sutton Trust, 9th Floor, Millbank Tower, 21-24 Millbank, London, SW1P 4QP. Our home working policy gives staff the option to work from home for up to 60% of the time, with approval from their line manager.
- Hours: The standard working hours are 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday and may also be required to attend events / meetings outside of their normal working hours during weekday evenings and occasionally at weekends

Job purpose: The postholder will support our aim to be the leading advocate for and supporter of Political Studies in the UK. Working with the CEO, the rest of the PSA Team and trustees you will lead the association’s membership services, communications, outreach programmes, and events including:

· Schools & Student programmes

The PSA is the home of Political Studies and in doing so the PSA’s staff and trustees work to bring our community together and advocate its importance to achieve our mission. This role plays a vital role in achieving this.
You will build and sustain a team of motivated and skilled staff and contractors and support them to continuously develop, innovate and enjoy their work. You will reflect the values of sustainability, diversity, advocacy and excellence in everything that you and your team do.
The post-holder will also contribute to the association’s income and membership targets, work within assigned budgets and creatively with partners as well as monitoring and reporting performance to trustees.
Operational priorities in the first year in being in post will include:
· Embedding a new website and CRM
· Implementing a new PSA 2025+ Strategic Plan including reviews of our membership offer and specialist groups

Team Structure & Context: The post will line manage a team of membership, communications and events personnel including the services of several external expert suppliers. Main responsibilities:
Governance, Strategy and Leadership:
- Work with the PSA’s trustees and PSA team to shape and deliver the PSA’s strategy and annual business plans and support our aim to be the leading advocate and scholarly community for Political Studies in the UK
- Ensure key performance indicators relating to your work area are monitored, reported and used to continuously improve our operations.
- Work with trustees and lead by example to embed the values of sustainability, diversity, advocacy and excellence throughout the organisation
- Lead, support, and motivate staff so they are engaged and committed to delivering the organisation’s culture, values and objectives while meeting their individual potential and enjoying their work
- You will be able to approve expenditure in accordance with the PSA’s Scheme of Delegation and finance policies and procedures
- On occasion, co-ordinate the PSA’s response to government and other consultations and represent the association while engaging stakeholders.
Membership Services and Communications:
Lead and support your Membership, Events, Communications & Programmes line-reports to develop and deliver the following:
- Devising the PSA’s membership, marketing and communications strategies with the wider PSA Team and trustees so that the association maintains and enhances its profile, size, and impact
- Manage team members and contractors to ensure the development and delivery of these strategies including the organisation’s membership services, codes of conduct, professional standards and package of member benefits
- Work with your team and trustees in shaping our membership offer which supports our members as they progress through their studies and careers. This includes the development and delivery of new membership categories including the PSA Fellowship
- Work with your team members to continuously improve the PSA’s member communications and content ensuring that all web and other digital and printed content and data is timely and good quality. You will ensure an ongoing programme of content and calls for action including promotion of Political Insight magazine and journals, the PSA Blog, e-newsletters, and social media as well as the efficient and effective deployment of the CRM so we can give our members, donors and stakeholders the best experience possible
- Work with your team to ensure the membership recruitment, renewal and services run smoothly and achieve the continued growth in the association and that expectations are met
- Run the annual academic prizes programme as a part of our PSA member benefits package and in partnership with others including the American Political Science Association and the Academy of Social Sciences
- Support the CEO and Head of Operations and Finance with implementing the PSA’s grant and other support programmes as part of our member benefits package
- Support the PSA’s Chair and CEO on wider engagement with the higher education and learned society sectors including supporting heads of department gatherings and communications.
Programme Management:
Deliver the PSA’s Schools programme:
- Support PSA trustees in creating a programme in line with the PSA’s strategy
- Lead team members, suppliers, and partners to deliver this programme to as wide a range of teachers and pupils as possible
- Promote the teaching and study of Politics particularly post-16 and at undergraduate level
- Develop and deliver an offering for teachers and students (particularly post-16 resources and events) involving input from academics in line with PSA Strategy
- Support the PSA’s trustees on engagement and advocacy concerning post-16 curriculum and assessment.
Supporting Students, early career academics and those focussed on higher education teaching and learning:
- Support your team members in managing member networks including the PSA’s Teaching and Learning Network (TLN) and Early Career Network (ECN), its volunteer convenors (committee members) and programme of communications, resources and events and imbed these as a clear part of our membership offering
- Support your team members in undertaking the election and training of incoming committee members and ensure the development of appropriate procedures and annual actions plans so that they adhere to the byelaws of the association and agreed budgets
- Support the PSA’s trustees with engagement and advocacy concerning Higher Education teaching and learning and the content of Politics courses
- Work with team members to organise and develop the annual PSA undergraduate Conference, and develop a wider programme of work with opportunities to undergraduate students to engage with the PSA
- With support from the team, ensure the effective operation of the PSA’s family of specialist groups in particular the management and growth of their own membership and communications as well as supporting their events and, in liaison with the Finance Manager, their own income and expenditure
- Work with team members, trustees and association members on the provision of developmental activities including mentoring and training programmes.
Delivering the PSA’s Annual Conference, annual lecture, and other events:
- Devise in consultation with colleagues and trustees, a conference and events strategy for the organisation aimed to bring our community together, further our strategy and maximise revenues. This should include events supporting all membership types, specialist groups and our networks.
- Manage the team responsible for delivery and ensure productive relationships between staff and suppliers as well as academic and commercial partners
- Develop and manage project budgets including the Annual Conference from inception to completion in consultation with team members and the Operations and Finance Team, reporting to the Chief Executive and Trustees.
- Oversee existing systems to monitor progress and expenditure through the regular scrutiny and review of budgets and project plans, from proposal though implementation and delivery
- Support team members in the delivery of PSA’s annual conference and the wider events programme, ensuring that all of these are of the highest quality and linked to the PSA’s wider strategic priorities ensuring all these events are risk-assessed, insured, delivered cost-effectively, on time and to a high professional standard
- Exploit opportunities to increase membership, profile, reach, and income including sponsorship and advertising as well as opportunities to increase inclusion through technology. This will include you and your team building relationships with potential sponsors, advertisers and exhibitors to maximise the opportunities available at PSA events and in our publications including selling sponsorship/stand/exhibition space to potential exhibitors/partners
- Conduct post-event evaluation to ensure continuous improvement and assess impact
- Ensure a pipeline of future annual conferences and other events through effective engagement with trustees and university Politics departments and other stakeholders.

Are you passionate about supporting people-centred and locally-driven approaches to learning and research? Are you experienced in community-based research, data collection and knowledge management?
We are looking for a Senior Learning and Research Analyst to join our International Programmes and Research Team. Supported by our Learning and Impact Manager and working alongside our Senior Monitoring and Evaluation Analyst and team of researchers, you will be responsible for consolidating and managing a central database and knowledge system that will underpin Peace Direct’s learning loop with specific emphasis on locally-led peacebuilding initiatives in Afghanistan, eastern DRC, Mali and Sudan.
This work is integral to our decolonised ways of working and will form an important part of our multi-year ‘Local First: Transforming the Peacebuilding System’ programme funded by the Dutch MfA.
This is a role for someone with a passion for peacebuilding and local leadership and a strong commitment to shifting power in the international system. You will have excellent analytical skills with experience of developing research, information or MEL systems in the international development sector.
Working in partnership with peacebuilders in francophone countries means the ability to work in French (proficiency level B2 or above) is a must and as such will be tested in interview. Added to this is the requirement for experience of processing qualitative and quantitative data using various approaches, including working with local knowledge systems, which will be highly valuable in this role.

Stronger Communities aims to remove barriers to accessing healthcare, increase community engagement and co-production, and reduce health inequalities in the borough of Harrow. Based in Harrow, we are a not-for-profit co-operative owned by our workers. We have in-depth knowledge of the local area and of who’s doing what. This role is funded by the VCSE Capacity Building & Infrastructure Fund 2024/2025 through the South East London Integrated Care System (SEL ICS) and aims to enhance the effectiveness of smaller, often informal groups delivering services that are both ‘by and for’ their service users that are crucial in addressing local health and wellbeing needs for the ‘under-served’ but face significant challenges in visibility and support.
The Grassroots Development Officer will be responsible for providing a wide range of organisational development support services and activities to assist grassroots VCSE organisations to develop, thrive and remain sustainable. This role is particularly interested in working with groups who deliver services to young people, the elderly, minority ethnic (global majority) and migrant groups, those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), and residents in the north of the borough (areas with high deprivation and a higher proportion of small groups).
You will be led by the VCSE sector within Bexley to ensure services are accessible, connected, consistent and to a high standard. This is a part-time position offering flexible hours (21 hours per week) to attract the best candidate. Reporting directly to the Board of Trustees, you will provide strategic and operational leadership to our dedicated team. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Deliver our Strategic plan: Collaborate with the Board and staff to implement our compelling strategic vision for the project, ensuring alignment with our vision, mission and operational objectives.
- Financial Sustainability: Spearhead fundraising initiatives, secure diverse funding streams, and manage budgets effectively to ensure the charity’s long-term financial health. This will include a strong focus on grants, bid writing and cultivating relationships with funding partners.
- Operational Excellence: Oversee the effective delivery of all programmes and projects, ensuring high-quality standards and compliance with relevant statutory requirements, policies and procedures.
- Team Leadership: Foster a positive and supportive work environment that empowers staff, promotes professional development, and encourages creativity and innovation.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including local authorities, community partners, parents, families, funders, and the public, effectively communicating the charity’s impact.
About You:
The ideal candidate will possess a unique blend of leadership skills, experience, and a genuine commitment to our mission. Essential criteria include:
- Proven Leadership: Minimum 2 years of experience in a senior leadership role, ideally within the charity sector, demonstrating successful organisational management, strategic planning, board and team leadership.
- Financial Acumen: Extensive experience in financial planning, budgeting, bid writing and securing funding for charitable organisations, with a proven track record in results and diversifying income streams.
- Collaborative Approach: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to build strong relationships, inspire teams, and work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Passion for Impact: A deep understanding of the challenges facing vulnerable young people and families, coupled with a genuine desire to make a tangible difference in their lives.
Relevant Qualification: A degree-level qualification (or equivalent) in a business/management related subject or a relevant professional qualification
To engage vulnerable and isolated young people and their families helping them build their confidence, identify new skills and build resilience

Purpose of the Job
The Dad Matters coordinators deliver a range of universal and targeted interventions aimed at male parents in the First 1001 Days. They support dads and other male carers with attachment and bonding, mental health and access to service. They also work with professionals and perinatal services to ensure dads and male carers are engaged, supported and heard within clinical pathways.
The post holder will:
- Build on the Home-Start Haringey, Hackney and Waltham Forest foundation of peer support by engaging and supporting dads in one to one and group situations.
- Ensure that parent – infant relationships are a thread through every relationship and conversation with dads.
- Raise awareness of the risks of poor mental health for fathers and their families during the perinatal period
- Raise awareness of the impact on fathers of caring for a partner affected by perinatal mental health issues
- Develop the Dad Matters volunteer role
- Develop close links with other health and voluntary agencies
- Facilitate regular consultation with fathers through outreach and focus groups
Main Responsibilities
Support to Dads
The post holder will provide individual and group support to dads during the perinatal period. This will involve the following:
- Meeting dads at ante-natal clinics
- Facilitating or co-facilitating ante-natal Dad Chats in person and online
- Supporting the developments of support offered to dads with children on NICU and those with partners in receipt of care from Perinatal Mental Health teams, Adult Mental Health, IAPT and Parent Infant Mental Health teams
- Signposting and supporting access to other services as appropriate
- Undertake designated responsibilities to safeguard and promote children’s welfare
- Ensure equality of opportunity, fairness and diversity in all aspects of work
- Facilitate regular consultation with fathers in order to ensure that all resources are targeted appropriately
Promotion & Awareness Raising:
- Maintain up-to-date information for dads and make this available through the Dad Matters website and a range of social media
- Engage dads through social media, self-referral and email.
- Ensure the integrity of the Dad Matters Brand when engaging dads and professionals.
Recruiting & Managing Volunteers – this will involve:
- Promoting, developing and delivering volunteer recruitment campaigns
- Recruiting, selecting and preparing suitable volunteers
- Arranging and co-ordinating volunteer activity in person and online
- Providing support and supervision for volunteers engaged in working with dads
- To provide further training for Home-Start Haringey, Hackney and Waltham Forest home visiting volunteers as appropriate
Monitoring & Evaluation:
- Support the evaluation of the impact of Dad Matters
- Ensure accurate and relevant record keeping and data collection
Working in Partnership
- Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with key health partners, including those from Parent Infant Mental Health teams, Midwifery, IAPT, Perinatal Teams, Adult Mental Health, Health Visiting and other VCSE groups
- Networking appropriately within the community
- Delivering/co-delivering training to multi-agency colleagues as appropriate
The post holder may be required to undertake any other duties that fall within the nature of the role and responsibilities of the post as detailed above.
