This is an opportunity to join Refuge as Independent Domestic Violence Advocate to supporting women and children who are impacted by domestic violence. You will work closely with victims of domestic abuse from the point of crisis, to provide high quality independent advocacy and support to survivors of domestic abuse at the highest risk and their children.

The job involves working within a multi-agency framework consisting of the MARAC and local partnership protocols and procedures that prioritise the safety of survivors. The post holder will empower survivors by providing them with emotional, practical and personal welfare support. The job involves ensuring that women are provided with a safe, supportive and welcoming environment and enabling them to access their rights, make decisions and increase their life options. The job involves informing survivors of the full range of civil, criminal and practical options that might increase their safety.

This role includes attendance at the office in Warwick district. Travel around Warwickshire for client appointments is essential to role, therefore use of a car essential.

OVERVIEW

Rising Sun Domestic Violence and Abuse Service (Rising Sun) is an independent charity in Kent working to prevent domestic abuse and improve the lives of survivors and their children suffering from its effects. We have an ambitious vision for a world in which women and children live free from actual or threatened domestic abuse and all forms of violence.

Our team provide a range of services to adults and children who’ve experienced domestic abuse. We understand the impact of domestic abuse on survivors and so we listen to individual needs and respond in a trauma informed way. We provide one-to-one support and also deliver therapeutically informed group programmes to help survivors to recognise healthy/unhealthy behaviours in relationships and to understand the impact of domestic abuse. Bringing survivors together validates experiences and enables them to draw strength from one another.

JOB PURPOSE

Liberty House provides housing and support for up to 5 homeless young women aged 16-24 who are single, pregnant or have a young child and have experienced domestic abuse.

The support worker will be required to take on key-working responsibilities for the residents at Liberty House, as well as delivering other support work within the house and within the wider Liberty team. This could be related to pregnancy and parenting, life skills, psychoeducational support, understanding healthy relationships and building supportive peer relationships within the home, and supporting them to live independently.

The post holder will work to provide a secure, stable and homely environment and to act as a positive role model to residents. They will build professional and supportive relationships with residents and colleagues.

The project works to empower residents, providing them with information relating to their rights and enabling them to make decisions based on their options using a trauma informed approach.

As a member of the Liberty Team (16 – 24 year olds), the successful applicant will work collaboratively with the rest of the Children and Young People’s team, as well as the wider Rising Sun team to support other programmes delivered within the organisation.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Service Delivery

• Provide holistic, trauma informed, practical and emotional support to residents of Liberty House through regular 1-2-1 sessions. Develop individual support plans, which address any practical and emotional needs the resident may have, such as accessing benefits, life skills and perform risk assessments where needed.
• Organise and deliver group sessions that focus on life skills and strengthening relationships.
• Encourage the residents in positive parenting.
• Manage relationships within the house, act as a conciliator, arbitrator and reconciler in disputes between residents.
• Ensure residents adhere to house rules.
• Assist with the day to day general running of the house and office, to ensure they are fit for purpose and safe for team members and residents.
• Conduct safety checks around the house. Ensure all faults/repairs are reported and that the Health and Safety Policy is adhered to at all times.
• Comply with organisational policies and procedures and adhere to confidentiality.
• Work effectively in partnership with other agencies.

No two days are the same, which makes the role exciting, but some day-to-day duties include:

• Assist with meal preparation and medication management.

• Support individuals with household tasks, such as cleaning and laundry.

• Monitor and report any changes in physical or mental health to appropriate staff members.

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of care provided.

• Provide personal care to individuals, including bathing, dressing, and toileting.

The Women’s Recovery Service is a dedicated 22-bed accommodation designed to provide a safe, psychologically informed space for women with complex needs. As the Team Manager, you will play a vital role in leading and supporting our frontline staff, ensuring the highest standards of trauma-informed, recovery-focused care for our residents. This role requires a strong commitment to making a meaningful impact, combining strategic oversight with empathetic, hands-on leadership to drive effective service delivery.

• Demonstrable experience and knowledge of complex issues effecting women including DV, VAWG, Mental Health, Women’s Health and Substance Misuse.

We are looking for three Support Workers to join our client's Homeless Assessment hub in central London! In this role you will be supporting clients at the assessment hub, readying them for move on and helping clients to obtain longer term accommodation. The service supports clients who have been referred by the local authority and outreach teams. The aim is to assess clients, provide support for their needs and find accommodation for them within a 28-day period. This is not always possible due to the complex nature of move on, but the service plays a pivotal role in the lives of many homeless people.

This exciting role also involves managing a strong team of staff and volunteers to meet income targets and enhance a thriving, profitable, retail social enterprise. The role supports our values and brand and provides effective leadership, training, and development to staff.  Working closely with our Learning & Development manager and Community manager delivering work experience and learning and development opportunities to the ex-homeless men and women [known as companions] who live within the nearby Emmaus community. Your role will embrace customer service, merchandising, staff supervision and everything else you’d expect in a retail environment, plus overseeing house clearance services and a fleet of five vans that play a crucial role to collect donated items and deliver customer purchases.

By fostering an environment of genuine acceptance and through the use of physical activity and group and one-to-one support sessions, SOHK enables people to find meaning and purpose to life. All of SOHK's activities are underpinned by an evidence based sport for development framework called the 5Cs.

OVERVIEW

School of Hard Knocks is embarking on an ambitious new 3-year fundraising strategy that will see us more than double our income and increase our audience reach so we can support more young people to complete their education and reach their potential. We have not yet proactively explored challenge events or community fundraising and yet we believe this could be an exciting growth area for the charity. We currently run one special event a year, but again, we see opportunity to grow our calendar of special and donor engagement events.

The purpose of this role is to build challenge and special event and community fundraising to support the delivery of our ambitious fundraising strategy. You will be an enthusiastic fundraiser, focused on building growth in our events portfolio and bringing creativity and events knowledge to the role. You will develop excellent relationships with our donors and corporate partners who engage in our events, supporting them to maximise their fundraising for the charity.

You will need to use your experience, creativity and proven event planning skills to ensure the success of our ambitious plans for achieving an effective events calendar for the charity.

This is a maternity cover contract with the potential to extend after the initial 12 months.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Events Fundraising:

• Work to achieve the Fundraising strategy by effectively initiating and delivering a calendar of challenge and special events suitable for our audiences across the UK, that will drive audience reach and income, focusing on delivering a good return on investment and achieving set objectives.
• Develop excellent donor journeys for all participants and attendees, putting in place effective and efficient processes and procedures.
• Work with the Marketing and Communications Manager to design and implement appropriate marketing strategies to maximise participation for all events including pre-, during- and post-event publicity.
• With support from the Communications team, develop timely social media content and achieve local media coverage by gathering compelling supporter stories.
• Ensure all supporter records are kept up to date with all interactions and the highest quality data is captured.
• Effectively follow all appropriate protocols and policies for the handling and receipting of donations and sponsorship monies and accurate recording of supporter information. Ensure all information is recorded in line with data protection legislation (GDPR).
• Work with the wider Fundraising and Communications Team to ensure a seamless donor experience for all and optimise cross-selling opportunities where appropriate.
• Monitor progress against set KPIs, report analysis of challenge events to the Director of Fundraising and review performance to ensure effectiveness. Provide relevant data and insight to inform next steps and plans for future growth.

Community Fundraising:

• Work with the Director of Fundraising to devise and implement an annual fundraising plan for community fundraising.
• Work with the Regional Fundraising Managers to maximise opportunities for Community fundraising in the areas we work in.
• Steward all community fundraising activities in England, ensuring our supporters have all the information and materials they need to make their events a success.
• Proactively seek new community partnership opportunities. Liaise with relevant members of staff to attend new business meetings and write compelling cases for support to win local community partnerships.

Other:

• Deliver safe fundraising events and activities ensuring the charity always operates within legal requirements and best practice. Ensure risk assessments are completed on events.
• Be willing and flexible to work outside of office hours to attend events, when necessary. Must be willing to travel around the UK on occasions to attend fundraising events and activities.
• Foster effective and productive relationships with key stakeholders including Corporate Social Responsibility Managers, Chairs & Trusties, senior volunteers and event coordinators.
• Represent the Charity’s Mission by speaking passionately about the charity to donors, and delivering presentations and talks on occasions, inspiring them to join in our mission to make a difference.
• Proactively seek out new opportunities for the charity to grow our income.
• Always work to collaborate across teams to enhance fundraising efforts and strengthen donor engagement.
• Assist in developing fundraising strategies and contribute innovative ideas.

ABOUT YOU

Knowledge & Experience:

• Fundraising Expertise: A proven track record of achieving financial targets through fundraising activities, ideally in mass participation and/or special events.
• Relationship Management: Demonstrable experience in building and nurturing strong relationships with a wide variety of individuals – ranging from community fundraisers to senior volunteers or senior-level corporate executives - to drive engagement and income. Skilled in identifying, establishing, and retaining new supporters, with a focus on effective supporter care and stewardship.
• Digital Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of CRM systems and relevant digital platforms to manage supporter data, track engagement, and enhance communication strategies. Experience using digital tools to streamline processes and optimise fundraising outcomes.
• Fundraising legalities and health and safety. Demonstrable understanding of Fundraising legalities and requirements to hosting a safe fundraising event for all. Excellent understanding of GDPR and integrity in data handling and management.

Skills:

• Communication: Excellent written and verbal skills to recruit and retain supporters, with experience in creating engaging presentations and delivering public speeches to diverse audiences.
• Teamwork and Independence: Confident and self-motivated, able to work autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team, with strong interpersonal skills.
• Strategic Thinking & Creativity: Able to translate strategic aims into plans, with strong research and problem-solving abilities. Quick to identify and act on new opportunities.
• Organisation: Strong planning and organisational skills, able to manage multiple priorities and maintain attention to detail.

TERMS OF APPOINTMENT

• This is an interim role, for 12 months from January 2025.
• The salary is £30,000 - 32,000 depending on experience.
• You will get 25 days annual leave per year plus UK National Holidays. Also, we give any normal working days between Christmas and New Year as additional holidays.
• Reasonable flexible working arrangement offered, but you must have the ability to work outside of core hours and travel across the UK when necessary.
